I think something that most people forget is you only notice peekers advantage when you are on the receiving end, you have probably used peekers advantage unknowingly more times then you have been killed by it
As frustrating as the peeker advantage is, I think it's a good thing for balancing the angles we like to hold. Some defensive angles will be better than many, so you see most people holding those angles, but attackers knowing that will use peeker advantage to prefire those angles with more efficiency, forcing the defenders to be creative and try to find off angles and new ones. I think it's rewarding to kill an enemy from an angle he didn't expect you to hold. It's like the cs go mirage window dilemma : powerful position, but you're expected there by enemies. Will you dare to hold it ? Also peeking an awp without utility in any angle remains dangerous for the peeker, so you still need to be sharp to succeed. And to be honest sometimes perspective is significantly responsible for you to see your enemy after he sees you, if you're standing closer to an obstacle than him for example.
I play valorant on 150-170 ping on 60fps so I really feel the peakers advantage. I literally have never held an angle since I started playing. In fact even when I hide in a conner and someone looks at me turns away and looks back I still can’t kill them
Playing neon is literally like playing warzone in valorant. I had a lot of time in wz and a 3.5kd, so I was pretty comfortable with getting kills while sliding, and neon made me feel right at home heheheheh
I always thought it was more of a psychological and geographic/geometry problem but not the system itself. Peekers always have the advantage if they have low ping and latency but most importantly that the holder holding the angle for too long will likely lower their guard down. So when someone does the Xantares peek to me, I'll probably said "damn, this guy's good" or "man I doze off!" or "this guy is cheating" lol
Peekers advantage will always be a thing even if they get the peeks synched perfectly. When I peek and prefire a spot, I shoot before I see an enemy, so my reaction time doing that will always be faster than the reaction time of someone waiting for me to appear.
In relation to the title, cheating is becoming a bigger and bigger problem in Valorant. Would like to see a deep dive into the cheating community, especially in Valorant because it's grown like crazy in the last year.
Same .. I have played from diamond to radiant for over 2 years and I’ve only met a cheater once in immortal .. and that game stopped after 1 round when the vanguard kicked in
I think I met a cheater once although I'm not super sure, there was a sage who walled the entry to the site we are going into everytime. (This happened On every start of the round while we were attacking and it's on ascent) at first I didn't really think much about it but when I asked my team to start switching sites randomly, the sage still walls our entry to the site everytime. We went to A, the site is walled, we went mid the site is walled, we went B the site is walled. Like I wasn't really super bothered by it because the sage didn't really have aimbot or any stronger cheats, but it's just kinda annoying that the sage is there everytime we want to push a site. It's on unrated too.
because cheating is hard to detect in valorant, most of the time you just shrug it off and no, vanguard is also not that good at detecting cheat. when the gunplay is so piss easy anyone and everyone can one tap, why calling out cheaters? The guy might be cheating or may even be blatantly cheating, but what if he just have a cypher downloading your position on his team?
Yeah this is kinda why I stopped playing tact shooters so much and moved towards towards shooters where I can move and shoot at the same time. Got tired of getting insta deleted by people I barely see and have time to react to.
Just adding movement acceleration would change a lot of things. that means you should not be able to stop instantly after stop strafing, you should learn how to counter strafe and that will make a huge skill ceiling between noobs and good players. well, at this point this is the only thing that came in my mind to fix picker advantage so the noobs cannot get kills easily.
I wish they would increase the movement speed honestly. Coming from cs go valorint feels so slow and the hit stun is stupid. The lag compensation makes the hit reg feel broken too.
I heavily disagree , peakers advantage is balanced as being a defender you can essentially hide anywhere making opponents needing to clear everywhere . Defenders can also counter peak is another plus
Peeker's advantage doesn't exclusively have to do with a raw millisecond difference. It also includes "target acquisition". The peeker's shot gets delayed just as much as their peek, so the raw ms advantage is minimal. (I'm NOT saying it's non existent). How quickly someone holding an angle is able to "process" that someone peeked matters just as much. Holding an angle can be a really monotonous activity which in turn increases your reaction time, which can make a big difference. Someone who lags and stutters around the corner can also contribute to this to unfortunately.
Valorant had very big peakers advantage problem in beta and early days. I don't think it is as bad now as it was. There was times in BETA where you get killed without even seeing an enemy. And I believe it had something to do with their anti-cheat.
Peeker should have at least a little advantage, because while running around corners you are already at a disadvantage to the person holding the angle, because crosshair placement is 99% of someone's aim in Valorant, unlike Csgo where you have higher movement speed and more precise counter strafing. Valorant's gunplay just sucks with or without the ping.
I see... So basically, if you have a potato PC running at 60 hz at 30-60 fps, its better to be aggressive and avoid holding angles... No wonder i kept dying by playing Cypher rather than when im playing Yoru
I also love how you say unless you are at a lan but that doesn't exist on pc what is actually happening is they are playing on a close server so the opponents have virtually identical pings due to them being the same distance from the server on the same network. LAN does actually exist on console where everyone is using the same hardware that isn't running at widely random frame rates render rates and network speeds. This also attributes to all the bugs and problems on pc due to devs needing to optimize for literally every configuration of hardware possible. How can they balance the net code for processes running at 500 fps and 60 fps on the same server at the same time. Even more so when the person running a 360 hz monitor at 300fps with a 10gbps ethernet port against someone running 60 fps on a 144 hz monitor with a 2.5gbps port. The speeds are infinitely drastic making it absolutely impossible to "meet in the middle" and create the same experiences for every player.
God, for the life of me I just don't get how people say Valorant is easier than CSGO. CSGO is absolutely a much easier game (coming from a SMFC). The movement is better so you can actually counter strafe, the recoil is patterned so you can easily learn to control it, there's not abilities to worry about, etc. I can't even get past D1 in Val bc it feels like I'm playing in molasses.
I’m playing Valorant, with laptop and wifi in SEA server (Singapore/Mumbai) from Germany. The ping fluctuates between 170-190, but it’s only unplayable whenever there’s a sharp ping spike since it’s wifi, so most of the time the lag can be handled. CSGO on the other hand, is unfortunately unplayable with this ping.
Wrong, 99.5% of ppl are hardcapped at 150ms reaction times for visual stimuli, much quicker for audio as theres less post processing in the brain, rare few exceptions that can get down to 125ms or lower for visual stimuli. Peekers advantage seems to happen in less than 100ms from the person holding the angle, however the peeker hasn't nessicaraly clicked any faster than the standard, fast, 150ms reaction times. There was just a discrepancy between the information displayed on the holders screen vs the peekers. Therefore the advantage.
elige is right, peekers advantage is annoying but without it the game would be so defense sided it would be impossible to attack without using a ton of util just for 1 person
Santiago servers are very insane regarding the peakers advantage. Your chilean friend might have 7 - 10 ms but you have 70, and there's nothing you can do because there's no other server you can play with a decent latency that isn't below 90 - 150 ms. riot, do argentina servers. please. we're enough people to justify it. :/
Peekers advantage is the reason why I quit fps games online in any tactical game. Maybe I'll go back when they make games better; but current setups/engines just aren't good enough yet. People can say it's a good thing all they want; but by definition any advantage makes it not fair.
I’ve been thinking about this and itll probably be like playing airsoft. You can’t really peek angles unless you want to get blasted. You’d probably have to flash every corner just like real life.
@deeman010gdj yeah I love airsoft. Or have way bigger maps. Usually bigger maps outside maximum draw distance solves the problem of people holding a corner. It becomes a problem when you can snipe from 1 side to the other.
Elon Musk needs to come up with a wave that can travel at a speed infinitely faster than light, that will help in fixing the peeker's advantage significantly with equal amount of registers and minimum latency.
"We are going to remove peeker's advantage" ~ RIOT Rule # 1: You must NEVER make promises that you CANNOT keep! If you do, you MUST apologize immediately once you have broken your promise.

There's 1 guy with 0 ping (lowest in the server) and a guy with 160 ping (highest in the server). Not to mention all of the wall hacks, bots, aim lock, aim bot and teleport hacks that are undetectable now as well. The game needs to be shut down in 2023.
What about ping based matchmaking so that 0-20 ms, 20-40 ms, 40-60ms, 60-80 ms and 80-infinity that would set an end to high pings peekin low to mid ping player and havin an crazy peekers advantage
Riot promised low ping only for everyone. Then they realised thats too many servers and now everyone can pick their servers and u fight high pingers non stop.
idk if this is worth making a video on. but the OG crosshair that most pros use in valorant right now. idk why but i first saw it on Cned and then yay made it popular. its 1420 white.
lmao "we sent our team to war against peekers advantange" that's literally how network works to think that riot are just too smart compared to other devs is laughable
Been playing CS titles and other competitive FPS games for well over 15 years. Trying to pretend that games like Valorant or CS:GO aren't infested with people using soft aimbot and wallhack/radarhack just proves you're completely clueless and should refrain yourself from commenting on a subject you know nothing about. Cheat makers have been making millions for years and keep making more and more to the point where they can pay people to spam forums about how "no one is cheating" and similar stuff to protect their business. Yes peeker's advantage exists, it doesn't justify the fact that people always know what you're doing, where you go, etc... But let's keep pretending that no one cheats, who gives a shit at this point.
both. there are cheeky cheaters in this game but use really minor cheats which give them major advantage. radar hack is a thing in valorant 100%. once i heard from my teammates "he's there you can see his dot on minimap" and there was nothing on my minimap (he was spectating me). also hitboxes are broken, i saved a clip where i hit a dude 4 times, the bullet went through a guys body 4 times and the game counted 80 dmg in 2
this isn't correct. it implies the higher the peeker's ping the more advantage they have, but it's the holder's ping that affects how much advantage the peeker has. valorant has a dev blog about it.
what does this mean for hawaii players tho? we have no dedicated servers with cali being the closest with average of 70-90 ping a match no matter the online multiplayer game. oregon is even worse sadly at 80-100+ which is the second best option we get. (regardless how good your internet and pc actually are)
You gotta put in the hours, that’s all it really is lol. From Oahu, my friends that play games in general usually average out at 70-90. Leaving me with 100ms because the game hates me or some shit haha (Your area matters too). However, there are those games where you can get low 60s, but it’s extremely rare pretty much. If you wanna see bullshit more clearly, I suggest getting a wired connection if you don’t have one. You will see nerf bullets flying & enemy players skipping everywhere haha. Just put in the hours.

this isn't correct. it implies the higher the peeker's ping the more advantage they have, but it's the holder's ping that affects how much advantage the peeker has. valorant has a dev blog about it.
what does this mean for hawaii players tho? we have no dedicated servers with cali being the closest with average of 70-90 ping a match no matter the online multiplayer game. oregon is even worse sadly at 80-100+ which is the second best option we get.
Just put in the hours.
u can actaully counter peekers advantage, just play off angles. thats what i do.
Counter peeking? or or do you mean counter strafing?
ah yes. can we get servers in every capital in austria? thank you
Can we like lock the lowest ping to around 30ms? Is it anyway possible?
tarkov players be popping veins watching this
if you were truly wondering what game has the worst peekers advantage, it is by far escape from tarkov
8:32 what ping? that's my avg games
