  • This one might be a bit triggering for some of you but I know if you've have braids done or visited a traditional black hair salon you can relate the the discussion in this video.
    *Disclaimer this is not to say all hair stylists are like this as there are many who actually work to care for the health of your hair. However, this video reflects on my personal experiences when getting braids/cornrows and weaves.

    What's your opinion? Do they care or do they just care about the style?

  • @sapphirehaircare

    I believe there are some styles that just don't care about anyone here.They're just concerned about how they style and getting the money.
    I had a stylist every time I went.She would always cut pieces of my hair off and I would ask her.Why will you have split it as?I don't have split ins like that deary.
    So I got up and walked out.I know it was wrong, but she's not gonna cut my hair.She had already cut 3 inches off and she continued to cut them off every 2 weeks.Every time I went to get a hair wash.

      🤦🏽‍♀️That's the worst if you actually go for a cut and they cut too much

    Most of these braiders are just that...braiders and not licenced stylists who have been to school. So they're not going to care about the health of your hair in most cases. They feel like they're giving you the style you want and that's it. I usually prep my own hair before going to anybody like this. Thankfully I work for a salon where the braider is actually a certified stylist so she knows how to handle the hair properly.

      Yes very true. There’s only so much prep you can do as detangling, trimming etc is down to them and their techniques

    Yeeaah, it really frustrates me when all the hairstylist seems to care about is accomplishing the style 🙄, I even kindly let whoever is doing my hair know that my hair breaks off easily, to please be sure to be gentle and start from the bottom when combing it out (I'm always sure to wash and blowdry my hair myself before getting a style), and they're still reckless as hell with the comb, brush and all, 9/10 even if they're a licensed stylist 🤦🏾‍♀️. I end up having much more hair coming out along with breakage than I normally do when I do my own hair 😒

      🫠i know i do as much as i can but being that i dont use a rat tail comb to detangle it still leaves room for error

  • @emeraldthe
    @emeraldthe 3 месяца назад +2

    that is how they comb hair for detangling

    • @kekekurly
      @kekekurly  3 месяца назад

      No need to comb all down to the bottom then rip it out though

    This is the reason (a few of the reasons to be more accurate) that I watch videos and learn how to do my own hair. I can both prep and style my hair the way I want and not be angry with anyone that I paid a grip of money to. I haven’t been to a stylist since around 2012.

      Yes generally i do styles for the most part but i enjoy having my hair done and most importantly reducing the time spent on styling, if it was me vs a stylist (or two) doing it. Also i wont trim my hair at all as im not a professional

    Lol I’m surprised you got braids after all the mayhem you’ve been experiencing with your hair lately. I agree with you though, which is why I haven’t gone back to get my hair braided. One and done, will do it myself if I really want to

      Yeah tbh i forgot how they handle your hair.

    If you're going to complain. Don't get your hair braided. It's plenty of other styles and hair dressers . The nerves of this girl. 😢

      Unfortunately, protective styles are limited to braids and twisting techniques.. I do not visit the same hairdresser each time, but seems to be a commonality amongst them that they care more about the outcome, then your hair. Hence me sharing my experience.

      I hear you! I had this experience very recently in Brixton. I have fine bleached 3b hair and was told I’d need two double packs of XPressions hair. She used four packs! My hair was so heavy and looked ridiculous, I had to redo my hair myself.
