I know Ninja “complains” a lot but I agree with him here. Fortnite’s hit registration has always been weird when it comes to a bullet hitting a player. I’ve seen countless clips of people dying to bullets that landed nowhere near them especially with snipers. What epic probably did for this ballistics mode is literally just move the camera in front of their third person character to give the illusion of first person, but didn’t change much else. Meaning they most likely didn’t change many other mechanics from the base game. Which therefore exposes the weird hit registration it has always had because it stayed due to them not touching it when making this mode.

explanation: if you're physically closer to the server hosting the fortnite game, it will register your hits faster; even if it's 0.01 seconds faster vs 0.03 seconds faster. Whoever is closer to the server gets better hits read. If a player shoots someone at 0 ping, and the other person is at 20 ping and they dodge at the same time, priority goes to the bullets of the player at 0 ping; even if the player at 20 pings "dodges" the shots. The bullet hits will be counted over the dodging actions. This is why pros will temporarily go to texas or wherever the FNCS finals server is located. There is a MASSIVE difference between 0 ping and 20 ping when it comes down to micro actions in the pro scene for fortnite

He's not wrong im from Nigeria and EU servers are the only good ones to play on, i get around 140 to 190 on an average day, but im still good at the game and I've been playing it since 2018 but yeah i don't think epic is going to make servers for countries that are not going to put money in their pockets unfortunately

valorant with 50 ping difference between player would never be as bad as this. it's fortnite code that's fked, you can search thousands of videos and tiktoks complaining about the same problem on regular battle royal let alone this mode. they always get excused by the replay "delay" crap until players started recording live gameplay and it still happen

He's 100% correct. Ballistic cannot be a high level competitive game with the horrible de-sync it has right now. Imagine you're in a $100k tourney, and getting consistently eliminated while behind a wall. High level pro gamers will not put up with that, they'll just find another game to main.
South Africa 180 ping and we still get shot in normal battle royale the same way. I wish we had African servers. Ninja is the man for this to get done!
The worst part of this is that ballistic doesn’t really have anything if it wants to compete with over tactical shooter. If they fix current bug/glitches, weapon balance & introduce something that other competitors don’t have in their game they could have a shot with this mode (example: round-based perk unlocks, More credit store options etc.
Same shit happened with rocket racing: nobody wanted to play a racing game that doesn’t really have anything different to games with a better player base less bugs/issues

Usually i make fun of him for crying over small things but he's so right about not having 0 ping everywhere in 2024 (almost 2025), the lowest ping i get is in Valorant and that is around 40 and other than that i get like 40-50 ping in fortnite and in other games i average like 100+ ping and it's really sad that these gaming companies make billions but can't have good servers or just servers in most of the countries.
I dont really see his point tho, if you have higher ping you are at a disadvantage that happens in every shooter, its not epics fault you have 50 ping if you are not close to the servers, they are not gonna have dedicated servers in every city of every developed country. The sever tick-rate that is another issue in itself…

@ yeah im not saying that ballistic is perfect either, 50 ping should be more playable than it is in the clip, but his main concern (on the video at least) is that most players dont have 0 ping, which is not gonna have a solution for the time being because it is simply not feasible. That aside for lower ping like 15/20 my feeling so far is very close to how Valorant feels on the same ping in terms of bullet registry for the games I’ve played so far.
@@Dieblas its probably not a global thing, but ive killed people while reloading, it seems like a netcode error. it also definitely doesnt feel as snappy/clean as mainstream tac shooters and thats fine i guess, its just a mode on early access, but this type games are build different to avoid at least a little peekers advantage and fortnite has a 30 tickrate, and valorant has 120 tickrate... obviously not the same since this is servers we are talking is much more complex, but you could see it as 30fps vs 120fps because while not visible, the imput reading is that huge of a gap with main shooters, AND THEN you add up server delayed ticks on top of the already shitty 30tickrate. all that said, PLUS servers running like shit atm on fortnite explains what happened on the clip.
I have a stable 12 ping playing Val/League on riot games servers, and around 30 in fortnite, so their servers really are worse to start And then the game has poor netcode and hit registration, they might not be able to put a server next to everyone, but the game side should work at least specially because they add ranked to every mode and always cater to pros, I'm tired of dying behind cover because the last shots are still hitting me
Yep I said that too, fortnite has always had a ping issue, and if you're behind cover and fighting you might just get behind cover and then die after you're in cover. Wanna know 1 of the reason Xdefiant died? because it had this issue too.
As a person who has played over 2000 hours of valorant and reached ascendant 3, I completely vouch for riot saying there is literally no d-sync existing in valorant. The only time I've ever faced a d sync is when you Jett dash and get killed even though you dash. I left valorant in March 2024, not looking for beef just saying valorant is well optimised.(25-30 ping player)

Of course, this is a blatant case, but it happens. Ninja judges from his own bell tower, but let me give counterarguments, as I am an expert in this matter. First - why we do not have ping 0. The network signal goes over fiber optic cable and it goes at the speed of light. It can't go any faster. If Ninja lives in northern Florida and the servers are in New York, the minimum ping he can get is the speed at which light travels the distance from his house to New York. I think it's on the order of 25ms. But that's ideally if the fiber optic cable goes straight through. Usually it's like this - you connect to your ISP, and the ISP drives traffic to the point through higher level ISPs, sometimes the signal goes directly, sometimes almost directly, and sometimes it goes to another state because that's where the distribution point is. That's the reason for the 40 ms ping instead of 25. Yes, Epic Games, could have put a server in Florida, but then you would have to play only with Florida players, and the waiting time for matches would be longer. Secondly, there are two approaches in network shooters, it is when the hits on the enemy are calculated on the server side, and when on the client side. If on the server side, then 40-50 ms is felt in such a way that you click on the shot and the shot happens 50 milliseconds later. When the ping 50 it is already unpleasant, but you can get used to it, but when the ping is more than 100 it is not playable on a competitive level. Such a system is used in quake 1/2/3 unreal torunament and early versions of CS (about the later I do not know, did not play them). In modern shooters use the calculation on the client side, it is when you see on your screen model of the enemy and shoot at it, the hit is fixed by the way it was on your screen. That is, no matter what your ping is, you will hit normally. But the disadvantage of this system is that you have already gone around the corner, and you killed, because on the other side of the player saw your model on his screen. He makes a solid point and a lot of times Epic rolls out these modes too fast, hiding behind the "Beta" mask. But about implementing servers everywhere, at the end of the day, Epic is being a profit-maximizing business - server farms are costly, no matter how much a company makes. What's also not being given enough consideration here is the idea that Fortnite is showing off as much as they can as it relates to their game engine. The other Tac FPS's are surely more simplified in mechanics and less of everything happening all at once. And still with those games, things like wall-banging happen. So perhaps Fortnite is doing too much too fast, but it's unfair to ignore the shortcomings of other games too that people find to be better versions in the Tac FPS world

This has been happening in battle royale since day 1 as well. I’ll be on 25 ping and put a roof over my head clear as day, or a wall in front of me, and someone with better ping than me will still get a bullet through even though on my screen my build clearly went up before he shot. Again, that happens to me on 25-30 ping, let alone those who aren’t on ethernet for example, and sometimes have their ping skyrocket all over the place.
I'm dealing with this on br every chapter. Idk if it's ping but I'm dealing with lag and glitching all in the game. It's driving me nuts. Wish they would focus on fixes like they use to. Since mid ch4 it's been ridiculous 💯

I’ve had extreme Desync on this new game mode. I live in New York connected to an Ethernet port on my pc- there’s absolutely zero reason I should be dying while clearly being behind cover.
its not ping they set ther unreal engine to low settings so it makes fights 50/50 and to nerf movment so low skilled players can win or even if they die fell like their better because they got them 1 hit
I okay on 20 ping. Fighting against people on HARD 0 ping is a nightmare. Can’t take a wall from them, they can edit shoot and reset before i even hit their wall. It’s a different game on 0 ping , trust me

The should add African servers i get that there wont be many players at the start and it wont be good for comp then just dont add competitive until the server fills up just leave it as the game normaly and trust me this will bring more players to the game

Ping is the length of time between you and the server. There’s no way that we could all be on 0 ping. That’s unrealistic. Maybe quality of life changes in other areas would help more.
"Ballistic" & "no build" make Fortnite look like all other boring games, I like to see someone emoting to dodge a bullet before outbuilding an opponent. = more spectacular than other garbage so called immersive FPS.

It's easy to agree with Ninja - he's right - except one thing. The average gamer ping is 40-80. And an established country won't do jack shit for your connection if everything's congested and your super uber fiber pipeline is shared with 20 other families in an apartment complex. I lived over 20 years downtown Oslo, Norway. I've also lived in Germany. I've played professional in Sweden and other European countries. My average ping was always 40-60, never below 30, except for Dota and Russian servers. I've never had better ping or faster Internet than the one I currently have in Santiago, Chile (That's South America for you noobs). Fast 1000MMbps up and down and 5ms within the country. That's pretty much unheard of in Europe. Yes, it is 2024 and we should have 0-5 ping everywhere, but we don't, and we won't get it anytime soon (sadly).

That aside for lower ping like 15/20 my feeling so far is very close to how Valorant feels on the same ping in terms of bullet registry for the games I’ve played so far.
@@Dieblas its probably not a global thing, but ive killed people while reloading, it seems like a netcode error. it also definitely doesnt feel as snappy/clean as mainstream tac shooters and thats fine i guess, its just a mode on early access, but this type games are build different to avoid at least a little peekers advantage and fortnite has a 30 tickrate, and valorant has 120 tickrate... obviously not the same since this is servers we are talking is much more complex, but you could see it as 30fps vs 120fps because while not visible, the imput reading is that huge of a gap with main shooters, AND THEN you add up server delayed ticks on top of the already shitty 30tickrate.
all that said, PLUS servers running like shit atm on fortnite explains what happened on the clip.
I have a stable 12 ping playing Val/League on riot games servers, and around 30 in fortnite, so their servers really are worse to start
And then the game has poor netcode and hit registration, they might not be able to put a server next to everyone, but the game side should work at least specially because they add ranked to every mode and always cater to pros, I'm tired of dying behind cover because the last shots are still hitting me

Yep I said that too, fortnite has always had a ping issue, and if you're behind cover and fighting you might just get behind cover and then die after you're in cover. Wanna know 1 of the reason Xdefiant died? because it had this issue too.

As a person who has played over 2000 hours of valorant and reached ascendant 3, I completely vouch for riot saying there is literally no d-sync existing in valorant. The only time I've ever faced a d sync is when you Jett dash and get killed even though you dash. I left valorant in March 2024, not looking for beef just saying valorant is well optimised.(25-30 ping player)
Only a problem in COD. CSGO and Val have literally no desync.

Of course, this is a blatant case, but it happens. Ninja judges from his own bell tower, but let me give counterarguments, as I am an expert in this matter. First - why we do not have ping 0. The network signal goes over fiber optic cable and it goes at the speed of light. It can't go any faster. If Ninja lives in northern Florida and the servers are in New York, the minimum ping he can get is the speed at which light travels the distance from his house to New York. I think it's on the order of 25ms. But that's ideally if the fiber optic cable goes straight through. Usually it's like this - you connect to your ISP, and the ISP drives traffic to the point through higher level ISPs, sometimes the signal goes directly, sometimes almost directly, and sometimes it goes to another state because that's where the distribution point is. That's the reason for the 40 ms ping instead of 25. Yes, Epic Games, could have put a server in Florida, but then you would have to play only with Florida players, and the waiting time for matches would be longer. Secondly, there are two approaches in network shooters, it is when the hits on the enemy are calculated on the server side, and when on the client side. If on the server side, then 40-50 ms is felt in such a way that you click on the shot and the shot happens 50 milliseconds later. When the ping 50 it is already unpleasant, but you can get used to it, but when the ping is more than 100 it is not playable on a competitive level. Such a system is used in quake 1/2/3 unreal torunament and early versions of CS (about the later I do not know, did not play them). He makes a solid point and a lot of times Epic rolls out these modes too fast, hiding behind the "Beta" mask. But about implementing servers everywhere, at the end of the day, Epic is being a profit-maximizing business - server farms are costly, no matter how much a company makes.
What's also not being given enough consideration here is the idea that Fortnite is showing off as much as they can as it relates to their game engine. The other Tac FPS's are surely more simplified in mechanics and less of everything happening all at once. And still with those games, things like wall-banging happen. So perhaps Fortnite is doing too much too fast, but it's unfair to ignore the shortcomings of other games too that people find to be better versions in the Tac FPS world

It's not a mechanic. It's a byproduct of a poorly coded game and horendous 30 tick servers.
This has been happening in battle royale since day 1 as well. I’ll be on 25 ping and put a roof over my head clear as day, or a wall in front of me, and someone with better ping than me will still get a bullet through even though on my screen my build clearly went up before he shot. Again, that happens to me on 25-30 ping, let alone those who aren’t on ethernet for example, and sometimes have their ping skyrocket all over the place.

its not ping they set ther unreal engine to low settings so it makes fights 50/50 and to nerf movment so low skilled players can win or even if they die fell like their better because they got them 1 hit

The should add African servers i get that there wont be many players at the start and it wont be good for comp then just dont add competitive until the server fills up just leave it as the game normaly and trust me this will bring more players to the game

Ping is the length of time between you and the server. There’s no way that we could all be on 0 ping. That’s unrealistic. Maybe quality of life changes in other areas would help more.

It's easy to agree with Ninja - he's right - except one thing. The average gamer ping is 40-80. And an established country won't do jack shit for your connection if everything's congested and your super uber fiber pipeline is shared with 20 other families in an apartment complex. I lived over 20 years downtown Oslo, Norway. I've also lived in Germany. I've played professional in Sweden and other European countries. My average ping was always 40-60, never below 30, except for Dota and Russian servers. I've never had better ping or faster Internet than the one I currently have in Santiago, Chile (That's South America for you noobs). Fast 1000MMbps up and down and 5ms within the country. That's pretty much unheard of in Europe. Yes, it is 2024 and we should have 0-5 ping everywhere, but we don't, and we won't get it anytime soon (sadly).
