    Never thought of the heating up effect that pressurised gas has! Good tips! :)

    • @russhellmy
      @russhellmy 4 года назад +2

      Good tip, EXCEPT it's wrong! Gas cools when it expands , so going from 300 bar to 190 bar the gas is expanding and thus cooling down NOT heating up.

    • @tomtd
      @tomtd 3 года назад +1

      @@russhellmy it’s compressing the existing air as it goes into the gun, the pressure is rising, yes? More dense. However the gas is expanding in the cylinder as the pressure is dropping. Less dense
      Law of thermodynamics, gun heating, cylinder cooling by similar amounts of joules.

      It depends on which fitting style is being used to do the filling on the gun side. While of course you should depressurise the line first with the Air Arms modern style of fitting there is no way that it can cause any harm if disconnected without releasing the pressure. The noise would be horrific but there would be no danger.

    Question for anyone out there. Has anyone done any testing with nitrogen? I ask because it's a dry gas by nature. Can get it cheap most places and is not effected by cold temps. This question has been on my mind for a while so if anyone has any impact to help that would be great. Reason; I'm looking at some PCP rifles and doing my research now on what all I will need to swing over to a quality PCP rifle from power.

    Question:
    Can I fill a buddy bottle of 220 bar (BSA superten) from a scuba tank that is 220 bar, or after five or six refills the buddy bottle will have lack of pressure?

    • @georgelanden3778
      @georgelanden3778 7 лет назад +1

      every time you fill the gun the pressure in the tank will slowly decrease, if its a 7 litre tank and a 200cc buddy bottle you should get 10 refills of OK pressure. normally the tanks are 300 bar so you would get many more fills.

    Heh. The air would hear up if it was being compressed from atmospheric, say, from a pump, BUT in your case the air actually COOLS when entering the gun from a tank with higher pressure.

    I’m new to this but it’s confusing. My understanding scuba tanks are cheaper because they are heavier and they have a lower capacity?
    My PCP rifle has a 250 bars/500 cc bottle attached to it. I asked someone else about using a small scuba to keep in my backpack for portability and average scuba tank for my car and he said the maximum average of an air tank is 3000 psi so this will not fully refill your airgun as you will be short of a full refill and as you keep refilling it, you will get less and less air into your airgun.
    If I can get more than one fill from a scuba tank, why won’t it fill my PCP gun fully the first time and less and less the more times you refill your PCP Gun? I have enclosed what he wrote before.
    This is the part I don’t understand.
    Simply put, How many times can I refill my gun with a small portable scuba tank and how many refills with a normal sized scuba tank?

    That's not true, if you filled that 190 bar rifle to 300 bar it would probably explode spectacularly! It would certainly break. It's true you get no extra power over filling though, most unregulated PCP's are most powerful at around 50% full.

    • @bas6369
      @bas6369 10 лет назад +6

      nah they are designed to withstand pressures over 300 bar. so it wont explode.

      if the power droped to 90 bars you need to refil it :-)(if you go under 120 bars you will already notice it in performanse :-) ( i never go under 100 bars )
      best performanse is around 75 % to 85 % thats 150 to 170 bar of pressure ( depending on the type of pcp ) but in general for pcp's that run on 200 bars of pressure :-) there are exeptions but those are not commercial guns,those guns will shoot emty after a few shots . i've seen a specialy made pcp that had up to a 1000 joules ( not a 100 but a 1000 joules :-) that's insane,these guns can have pressures up to 600 bar . i couldn't beleave my eyes but these are 1 of a kind guns that costs a ridiculous amount of money ( + 5000 euros and that's a minimum )

    • @gogle
      @gogle 6 лет назад +1

      Normaly the max pressure of cilinder before explode is 650---700 bar
      teste pressure is 400 bar
      rupture pressure most is 650 bar
      but of course, always follow what the owner manual says

      ciro In the UK you can't simply walk into a shop and buy a rifle, you need a firearms certificate (FAC) and rules surrounding it are very strict. You also need a certificate to own a shotgun. However you can buy an air rifle if you are 18+ years old providing the gun is sub 12flb. Sometimes air rifles are better for certain jobs where space and/or noise can be an issue. But I do like rifles too.
