Hey Carolyn, An interesting thing about wood pigeons and those trees is that they get drunk on them, when the red berries get over ripe the birds are in like Flynn, they eat them until they get tipsy, I used to sit on my veranda having to duck while wood pigeons happily flew right by my ear, you saw how BIG and heavy those birds are, we could hear them happily falling off the branch they eat on! Lol🤗
It's lovely but the South Island has more gorgeous scenery. Can't wait to see the South Island from Carolyn's pov. Watching her with the birds, I wondered what she'd make of a kookaburra's laugh or the bell-like sound of the bell bird. It's always a wonder how small and diverse the world is and yet it's vast! Happy International Women's Day! The Prime Minister of NZ is certainly one to be inspired by as is our Carolyn. 💜🇦🇺🐨

This is 'New Zealand Day with Carolyn' for me ~ Dreary in North Carolina and Perfect on Carolyn's RV Life in New Zealand! Love the Bird Hikes! Brings back childhood enjoyment at San Diego Zoo's Bird Sanctuary. North Carolina has wonderful bird walks in Great Smoky Mountain National Park area and surrounding areas. You'd be a super tourist guide for that also!
Cool Tui birds!!! You should buy yourself some binoculars so you can see them, (if you go back) although it is just as fun to hear them. The giant ferns and palms and trees are amazing!! OMG
Hi Carolyn, it's really easy to become a NZ citizen, but you do need to know a bit about NZ so there would be a bit of study to do first and there's lots of islands for you to hike on if you wanted to fill your back pack and just walk out the front door. Always lock all doors and windows before leaving home even if you end up living on Barra. (Great Barrier Island) That tiny house goes on the back of a truck we call them house trucks, been in NZ since the 50's.

I get migraines to. I seen a post once on the different things Vick rub can do for you and migraines is one of them. I hadn't used Vicks since I was a kid for colds. I bought some and I got to say its a miracle how good it works. I rub it in my forehead, temples, and a little between the eyebrows on my nose for the sinus area and with in minutes it starts to calm down.Also I had a Dr tell me once don't lay down with a migraine it makes it worse, intensifies the blood flow. I lay back in my recliner now and they seldom get so bad I get sick.Just thought you might want to know.

Carolyn, I had puking, debilitating migraines for years. Once I had my hysterectomy, they went away forever. I'm not recommending anything that drastic mind you, but possibly a hormonal work up with your doctor could determine if there are imbalances that may be causing your migraines. Just a thought.

I talk to what ever the local animal is...I mean nontreatening animals that is. Especially the squirrels. Love those little critters. So I think chatting with the birds is totally normal. Migraines x30 + years for 2.5 days per month related to hormone cycle. Also same side of head reactive, with less severe headache, related to anything that that causes vasoconstriction/ dilatation such as alcohol, variations in caffeine ...Imitrex / Sumatriptan helpful. A few years into menopause totally disappeared! Thank you for beautiful sights & sounds - love the birds. I could see living there. Jeanne ( retired RN)

I too suffer from migraines, Carolyn. I am allergic to triptans so I am prescribed Fioricet. It is the only migraine medicine that takes care of my horrible migraines.

Hope you will watch Dr.Eric Berg's videos about migraines.. he has a great one from 2013 ..called What Causes Headaches? He says 90% of headaches are caused by the gallbladder .. if you press under and up /inward of your right side ribs and hold for 2 minutes and your headache goes away , it is a digestive issue, he says... but he also lists other causes and remedies in his videos about migraine. Also July 2, 2017 video on migraines of his really good too. Hope this info will help. NZ looks fabulous!!
I have also had Migraine headaches for about 30 years too. When I as in college and Paramedic school in 1995, I started going to a new Neurologist and we went through the entire medication protocol and after about a year, he placed me on Sansert (Methysergide) and I took it for about another year (note, you have you take "med holidays" every 3-4 months because the drug can cause fibrosis of certain organs if you don't. Long story short, I was having the migraines daily and Sansert cut my headaches down to perhaps 2-3 a month. The FDA took it off the market a few years back but you can still obtain the med in Canada with a physician's prescription from the USA. You may want to investigate the new injections like Ajovy, Aimovig, etc. Keep safe.

I take Fiorinal with a Tylenol and lie down to rest when I feel a migraine coming on. It works for me.

My brother’s migraines went away when he was started on a beta blocker (metoprolol). It wasn’t for blood pressure. He had violent migraines for years.

The birds were trying to communicate with you. New Zealand is beautiful. I have a yellow female parakeet. She chirps and likes to jump on her swing when I pretend to try and grab her. We play the game every morning while I',m having my coffee. Her name is Tweety. Kind of corny, huh....
