I have a cousin who was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions at Vera Cruze . He was awarded the medal in 1915 . He served from 1911-1952

I like how the designs of the Medals of Honor became loftier as their prestige grew after the other valor decorations were introduced in the 20th century. Previous to that the MoH was sometimes awarded for actions that were heroic but would merit other decorations today like the branches' various Crosses, the Silver Star, the Soldier's Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the Airman's Medal, or the Coast Guard Medal.

That tied bundle of sticks with an exe in the middle is the Roman symbol of the common people (as opposed to the senatorial class of nobleman.) Its symbolism is that feeble twigs, when bound together by a common purpose are unbreakable. The axe representing the power of the people. This bound bundle of sticks with an axe was carried before the People's Tribune, a powerful political position in Rome with the authority to veto even the Senate. That symbol can today be seen in official buildings throughout the democratic world, including our own congress.
Unfortunately, this symbol of the power of the people has also been mis-used. The Latin word for a bundle of sticks and therefore the Latin word for this symbol is fascis, which Mussolini adopted as the name of his political party.

The fasces was featured on the obverse of the Winged Liberty dime (1916-1945) as well. It didn't survive the redesign into the Roosevelt dime of 1946 but it came back for the 2016 gold centennial version of the coin.

Sometimes the neck ribbons do not have that nice silk water effect. I suppose the manufacturer changed.

Any plans for a U.S. Space Force MOH? Astronauts are awarded the Space Medal of Honor. Perhaps this will be adopted by the U.S. Space Force.

I don’t think so. The space force will always be to be US Air Force as the Marine Corps is to the Navy.
