OMG I KNOW! I love that. Other beauty Gurus like Tati used to be good at it and don’t anymore and it bums me out. Love Taylor and her consistently awesome quality of content.
It's super clear! I can essentially see a "line" down the middle of her face because of the difference. Even her left eye on screen looks bigger (the side with light coverage).
Yeah I watched this on my phone without my glasses on and there is such a difference. Maybe they didn't turn the quality up my phone always tries to do 480. I always end up going for an in between look because I have oily skin so this was really helpful for some more ideas on how to get a more natural look even with having to use powder 😍
Kristen Pearson me too! I find people like us kind of have to mix products up. Like mix a shimmer primer with foundation and just powder the t zone and maybe use a cream blush with a powder highlighter. 😊
Lexx Frost same! I’m 36 and have dry skin and dewy looks way better on me and now that I’ve really tried taking good care of my skin I feel that I only need a light coverage foundation.
Yolanda - Yoda The Wise awesome!! It feels so good to be 36 and not have any wrinkles yet!! I don’t have the 11’s between my eyebrows. I have a very faint 1, but it only really shows when I make my wtf face lol
Is there any way you could zoom in more & turn down the brightness? I’d love to be able to see the process & result but you’re so far away it seems. Love your channel!💞
I just love how you manage to teach us new ways how to making the most of our foundations 🙌🏻 We are twinning on the burns, three fingertips on my right hand and a big stripe on my left arm. I have MS so I have numbness and pins and needles in both hand and my whole left side of my body. I do burn myself quite often as I don't feel that I'm touching something hot until it really burns. Since it takes awhile for me to realise I'm burning myself, I end up blistering. Stay safe and sane everyone 🙏🏻❤️
I’m kinda digging the soft matte side. Like I’m kinda craving that finish versus the super glowy trend. Idk something I wanna try. I love shimmery/sparkly eyes but a soft matte base
I REALLY love how you did this. It shows us that we can get a lot more use out of one foundation then we think. I would love to see more videos like this. You always come up with great video ideas. I hope you are doing well xoxo
5:27 "Someone just knocked. We're going to forget that." Words for my daily life!! This was a really interesting video for me. Personally, I like the fuller coverage side, even though I tend to sheer out medium to full coverage foundations myself when I use them.
And this is why I never miss a video! 🙌🏼 Thank you for educating everyone on how other products used and technique makes every foundation look different!
OMFG that Catrice Dewy Glow is my new holy grail! I always have trouble with setting sprays but this is soooooo nice! Mattifies by keeping makeup dry, not oily and in place but also a beautiful natural glow. Not like highlight but a....natural healthy glow!!! I have trouble skin and it's always so hard to find products that work and look natural. This is by far my favorite product!
I can’t really see your skin that well and how it really looks up close. 😩 Can you maybe do another like this, zoomed in more??? Xx 💕 I just wanna really get a good look at what it looks like, ya know 🤗
I can never see your skin either, except for when you go into natural lighting. I think maybe the lights blow it out😔 i don’t think it’s the camera because it has been this way for a very long time imo
The lighting/exposure is quite bright... the highlights look blown out unfortunately so detail is lost... I totally believe the results she's getting, but the video being shot with a touch lower exposure would really help us see those results. And yes... closer up, too. 😊
I feel the same way too. Her tutorials are almost perfect if not for the distance between the camera like I wanna shout at her and say "please move closer!"
Taylor, I am so thankful that you have captions on your videos. Every single video of yours I click on has captions. I don't like to disturb the people Iive with after work but I HAVE to watch them, and the captions are so helpful. Thanks a lot!
I'm not sure if you are doing anything different skin care wise, but your skin - just bare faced - has been looking really radiant and beautiful. Just even more so than usual. It's like wake up and just go about your day. But, still glad you're reviewing foundations for the rest of us :)
Dude the Becca corrector is seriously life changing for dark circles or sunken in under eye area! I held off on this product for years and got it a few months ago and it’s amazing! I noticed that if I use it with concealer that’s more drying like shape tape it helps it look more hydrating and kind of acts like a primer and keeps it on a little longer ... for me at least! So so worth the money!!! I also grabbed it with a 20% off coupon so that helped too!!!
I recently learned how skincare can really alter the makeup finish. I started mixing a vitamin c serum with my matte foundation and now it doesn't crease or cake on the dry areas of my face and gives my foundation a more natural appearance. I love it! Thank you for doing a side by side comparison!
I put on lipstick (kind of a deep nude tone) for the first time in over a month and nearly startled myself in the mirror 😅 hope you’re doing well! ❤️❤️
YOU ARE A GENIUS! I never thought about mixing a foundation with a primer and OMG... it’s amazing. I used 1 pump of this foundation (which I usually dislike - it sits weird on my face) and 1 pump of the new Revlon smoothing and perfecting primer. It looks soooo good!! I’m in shock! ❤️❤️❤️
I also am a mixing kinda gal. I had to start keeping a list of what I mixed tho, because I would forget what I put together 😃My new fave is the fenty dewy & 2 faced peach. I do equal parts of each and it's just so lovely! Satin finish, lasts ALL day, sits perfectly and doesn't break me out. Another fave is EDW mixed w/ EDW nude (about 1pt reg vs. 2pt nude).
I tried this, this morning! It worked really well. I used my sunscreen and foundation and mixed them. What a great summer no makeup look. Now I’m asking myself why I have wasted money on tinted moisturizer🤷♀️ Great idea, I really enjoyed this, thank you for sharing.
I'm interested in applying these techniques to basically any of the foundations you mentioned in your bridal/wedding day recommendations. Also, I could use a roundup powder foundation review. ;) This was incredibly helpful. It's a priority to me to streamline and cut BACK on how many products I have lying around. I've missed the old days of RUclips when we maybe didn't own the exact same foundation or eye shadow as the tutorial, but we just figured out how to use what we had. Thank you Taylor!
Please do this with other foundations! I don't really care which, I just really love the idea! 😊 You're so creative Taylor, always bringing great content ❤️
I love a sheer light foundation (Charlotte Tilbury light wonder, mac face and body etc) but I can use so many full coverage foundations as sheer/light coverage prep makes a huge difference. I really like the fenty original foundation used sheer over kiehls ultra facial moisturiser and la roche Shaka sunscreen, very skin-like.
Thanks for showing the techniques in getting different looks. I have the L'Oreal foundation and it is one of my favorites, but I always get the full coverage look. As the weather is getting warmer the lighter coverage is better.
I can see quite a difference. On you, I like them both. When it comes to my own face I can not stand the look of matte foundation. I do own some full coverage matte foundations so I had to learn how to work with them. Mixing primer in✓ my fave is the Becca Backlight Mixing in or applying strobe cream first✓ I typically use MAC in Pinklite (but would love suggestions for others!) Using a super lumi setting spray✓ when I am feeling a bit extra I will complete my makeup sans highlighter. I spray all over my face, then I apply my highlight (a small touch of highlighter placed ever so lightly on the apples of your cheeks over your blush can look quite stunning, and no it doesn't have to be the same color as your main highlight) to all the normal high points. Another light spray, fan, and out the door with a lovely glowing dewy complexion.
Lately I've been preferring a sheerer, more natural base. I use the NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil as a mixer and it's super nice. I also like that it's not ultra dewy like most tinted moisturizers; I prefer a natural finish (vs dewy) and it lasts longer on my skin.
I tried your dewy combo since I have the L’Oréal foundation and the essence primer and it looked great! I got multiple compliments on how nice my skin looked. Thanks Taylor, I love all of your videos!
Don’t be so hard on yourself. With everything that’s been going on, you’re still here, and that takes a lot courage and strength. I, and many others, haven’t worn makeup since the quarantine started, you’re not alone.
Ummm! How am I a true and long time subscriber and I am just seeing this now?!?! This is amazing! It goes to show that you (me) don't need 20 foundations!! Wow!!!
This is the best and most creative makeup video I've seen in a long time, and it's so informative! I love all your videos, but this one was especially cool. Thanks for all the content and hope you're doing well.
I love this idea! I really want to downsize my makeup collection and this video just shows how I could have one foundation and make it matte and long-lasting for nights out and then dewy and natural for everyday. Great video, thank you.
Your videos are so informative and honest. Love them. And I found your painting furniture video and that saved my sanity during this quarantine! So many successful projects because of you! 💗 THANK YOU! Side note: Try the Dashing Diva nails. They are the best.
This is one of the best in depths video of yours. Very much thanks. I'm 52 and I learn a lot from you. I realIy appreciate your hard work and consistent content, many thanks. I prep my wrinkly face well with dewy mist after my skin care and then apply my base with fingers or RT setting brush mostly. No powder, sometimes onto my smiling lines only. ı prefer cream products lately. I wish we had more options here in Turkey.
Will you be trying to get some of Wayne Goss's new lip line to review? I just saw his reveal video, and they look gorgeous! Beautylish are selling them (launch on 5th May) 💗💗
My ride or die foundation combo is this foundation mixed with the L’Oréal Lumi foundation. It comes out fresh and long wearing at the same time. Love love love.
Wow great job! I loved the side by side, step by step and the way you are teaching, it’s so easy to follow and understand. Thank you for your hard work!
This is the only foundation I have. I never wear foundation. I just use concealer. Foundation always settles into my fine lines and drives me nuts. But, I’m deff gonna try the light coverage dewy look! Thanks for sharing. Hope you and your family are well 😊
This was a neat video - thank you! I’m dry skin and love matte looks so I was really excited about the matte side. The L’Oréal freshwear looks horrible on me but I LOVE it as a mixer - gives any foundation longevity and more coverage. Thanks again - I hope you’re safe and healthy!
Even though those press on nails didn't work for you, I love the gray color of the polish. Yes, your hair got a lil frizzy, but other than that it looked good. You explained this so well throughout, and you're so great to actually remember to post links for product reference and to previous videos like you say you will. I like the more matte side in general but for the dewy lighter coverage I really like the glow on that side. (Usually I gravitate toward more matte foundations with more coverage than light coverage foundations that have a dewy, glowy finish.) Thanks for posting. Great job on showing us. I hope you're having a good weekend.
Hey Taylor, this was awesome! I agree that you should try this with more foundations. No one has done that and I'm sure it would help many of us to make a win out of some of our foundation flops, lol. Thank you for that.
So happy you found a way to protect and clear up your skin compared to 2017 when you were testing the Catrice foundation. It must be highly damaging to try on so many different ingredients not knowing how your skin will fight and react against them. A single wrong ingredient can mess up one's skin so quickly with milia seeds, acne, etc etc and so hard to remove them.
So glad you did this video! This is my go-to foundation and was wanting to figure out a way to do lighter coverage for summer so my freckles were visible.
Hey! You've got some good tricks up your sleeve girl. On which I prefer....for everyday definitely the dewy side, but for an occasion, the full coverage. Thanks for some great new tips Taylor! I need that Essence product in my life too! xoxo
What a neat video! I have started doing this with a primer (mainly the maybelline blur + smooth because it’s basically like a lotion). My foundation suggestion would be the Maybelline Superstay full coverage foundation. It would be neat to see what other produces you mix with foundations to achieve a lighter coverage look. ❤️
I have always mixed my foundations! Just think of how many we may have purchased that just wasn't the right colour! Don't toss it make it your own by mixing - so glad you do this.
I'm old school, so I'm a fan of the full coverage side. I mix the 400 shade of the Fresh Wear with the CYO Lifeproof 101 and get my perfect shade and coverage. Almost all the techniques I use to apply my makeup have come from your videos. This one was so creative and I will be purchasing the Essence primer! 💐
Oh I enjoyed this. I never take my foundation to "full" because I don't have to cover it that much. I appreciated how you showed how you can use less and still make it look good. I would appreciate it if you could do this with some more popular foundations. :)
My daughter also burnt her arm on a waffle maker this week 😖 But this is exactly what I needed! I’ve been googling how to make my foundation lighter and the current foundation I’m using is the one you used in this video! Thank you Taylor ❤️
I love this foundation. I prefer to mix in a bb cream with it for the moisture and blend with my hands. Wore it when I had my son and my face was perfect for 24 hours. Hope you are doing well!!!
Can we just talk about how on point she is with ACTUALLY linking things??? Glorious. Much thanks
Yes, I really appreciate it very helpful.
Yup she always does what she says she’s gonna do love her reliability.
I always admired this about her, she even links what she mentions. I love her!!!!
Taylor is QUEEN CONSISTENT. One of the many reasons I love her so much.
OMG I KNOW! I love that. Other beauty Gurus like Tati used to be good at it and don’t anymore and it bums me out. Love Taylor and her consistently awesome quality of content.
Really confused with all of the comments saying they see no difference. I can clearly see a difference just by making the video full screen 😂
Lillianna Monet I can see a difference with it small!! WTH are they talking about?!
They need some glasses hahaha
It's super clear! I can essentially see a "line" down the middle of her face because of the difference. Even her left eye on screen looks bigger (the side with light coverage).
Yeah I watched this on my phone without my glasses on and there is such a difference. Maybe they didn't turn the quality up my phone always tries to do 480. Kristen Pearson me too! I find people like us kind of have to mix products up. Like mix a shimmer primer with foundation and just powder the t zone and maybe use a cream blush with a powder highlighter. 😊
I used to be such a matte lover but I’m 32 now and glowing skin is where it’s at for me. It just looks more youthful and vivacious.
Lexx Frost same! I’m 36 and have dry skin and dewy looks way better on me and now that I’ve really tried taking good care of my skin I feel that I only need a light coverage foundation.
Amen sister
I’m 33 and totally agree💕
Yep, 36 here and love a dewy look, even though I only have a couple of faint lines on my forehead, thank my mother’s genes.😀😀😀
Yolanda - Yoda The Wise awesome!! It feels so good to be 36 and not have any wrinkles yet!! I don’t have the 11’s between my eyebrows. I have a very faint 1, but it only really shows when I make my wtf face lol
The difference with just playing around with technique is crazy! This is why I love makeup!
When Taylor says she's going to link stuff, you can trust she will. Love that!
Is there any way you could zoom in more & turn down the brightness? I’d love to be able to see the process & result but you’re so far away it seems. Love your channel!💞
I just love how you manage to teach us new ways how to making the most of our foundations 🙌🏻

I do burn myself quite often as I don't feel that I'm touching something hot until it really burns. Since it takes awhile for me to realise I'm burning myself, I end up blistering.
Stay safe and sane everyone 🙏🏻❤️
I am so sorry that you have to live this way
I have MS also and my feet and legs are affected like your hands. I feel your pain! I wish you well thoughts

I love the side by side comparisons of the same foundation in different ways. It really shows how versatile the products can be
I love this idea! You nailed the first foundation, everyone owns that one, even me!
And this is why I never miss a video! 🙌🏼 Thank you for educating everyone on how other products used and technique makes every foundation look different!
OMFG that Catrice Dewy Glow is my new holy grail! I always have trouble with setting sprays but this is soooooo nice! I have trouble skin and it's always so hard to find products that work and look natural. This is by far my favorite product!
Haven't worn makeup in over 3 months yet i continue to watch every video ypu put out. Thanks for being a distraction during this rough time
I like the matte side better. But this was a great video. Thank you Taylor
I feel the same way, this set up isn't as zoomed in for foundation close ups.
I agree. The lighting is too bright.
The lighting/exposure is quite bright... the highlights look blown out unfortunately so detail is lost... I totally believe the results she's getting, but the video being shot with a touch lower exposure would really help us see those results. And yes... closer up, too. 😊

This is my favorite style of foundation reviews. I think the products used before can definitely make a difference.

That’s the only foundation I have and I always mix it in with glotion! Definitely gives the same effect as the glowy side
I put on lipstick (kind of a deep nude tone) for the first time in over a month and nearly startled myself in the mirror 😅 hope you’re doing well! ❤️❤️
I am always been a full coverage foundation person since I was a teenager with acne, so I love the full coverage matte look.
Both sides are super pretty but I loveeeee the natural dewy side 🤩 that highlight!!
Love the curly hair
I also am a mixing kinda gal. I had to start keeping a list of what I mixed tho, because I would forget what I put together 😃My new fave is the fenty dewy & 2 faced peach. I do equal parts of each and it's just so lovely! Satin finish, lasts ALL day, sits perfectly and doesn't break me out. Another fave is EDW mixed w/ EDW nude (about 1pt reg vs. 2pt nude).
I needed this video. I like the fresh wear foundation but making it a bit more dry skin friendly is great.
I looove mixing the fresh wear foundation with a few drops of squalane oil! it gives the most beautiful dewy healthy looking finish
You look like a stunning Bronzed Goddess in this video! The wavy hair and the Bronzed highlighted skin looks gorgeous on you!
Your base product knowledge is insane. I learn so much from your channel!!
I tried this, this morning! It worked really well. I used my sunscreen and foundation and mixed them. What a great summer no makeup look. Now I’m asking myself why I have wasted money on tinted moisturizer🤷♀️
Great idea, I really enjoyed this, thank you for sharing.

you guys are so much stronger than i am
i haven't put on a full face of makeup in about a month. i feel like there's no reason
Don’t be so hard on yourself. With everything that’s been going on, you’re still here, and that takes a lot courage and strength. I, and many others, haven’t worn makeup since the quarantine started, you’re not alone.
I can see a huge difference between the two! I prefer the left side but you're gorgeous either way!
I’m so excited that I can actually recreate these different foundation techniques because I actually have all the products for once 😊💕
Taylor, you are killing it with your content lately! Loved this video!
I like both sides! Both have a place, both look great. I try to use my fave foundation in all manner possible so this was helpful.
Glowy all day long and I love the side by side!! Amazing as always
Shout out to Taylor for helping me remember what day it is 😂
Love the light coverage, dewy side on you!
Such innovative way to create your own looks with what you have ( and all the knowledge you have about base products) really fun to watch!!
You're naturally radiant!!! Stunning!! Foundation why?!
I recently picked up the essence primer and I cannot WAIT to mix it in with my foundation holy moly
Liked the light and dewy side the best but they both look good.
I've started mixing my foundation with moisturizer (with SPF!) and it always lasts surprisingly well! hooray for innovation!
What a great video!!! I’m 52 and prefer the dewy look but both look gorgeous!!!! Loving your curly hair too!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰🥰🥰🥰
Will you be trying to get some of Wayne Goss's new lip line to review? I just saw his reveal video, and they look gorgeous! Beautylish are selling them (launch on 5th May) 💗💗
My ride or die foundation combo is this foundation mixed with the L’Oréal Lumi foundation. It comes out fresh and long wearing at the same time. Love love love.
Just wanted to say that your videos are so relaxing and useful! You are beautiful ! Hugs from Ecuador!!
Wow great job! I loved the side by side, step by step and the way you are teaching, it’s so easy to follow and understand. Thank you for your hard work!
I prefer them BOTH! Beautiful and this video was so informative! Thanks Taylor 💕
This is the only foundation I have. I never wear foundation. I just use concealer. Foundation always settles into my fine lines and drives me nuts. But, I’m deff gonna try the light coverage dewy look! Thanks for sharing. Hope you and your family are well 😊
Love the dewy side... don't hide your flawless skin! That glow is goalsss
I literally just bought this foundation and the dewy primer... Perfect timing 👌
Gonna try that primer trick for sheering out foundation. Such a great quarantine look!
I think your hair is looking particularly gorgeous today! Great tutorial!
Dewey is always my favorite!
I'm going to try this with my Too Faced Peach Perfect. It's more full coverage than Ilike to wear now.💕💕
Hey! You've got some good tricks up your sleeve girl. On which I prefer....for everyday definitely the dewy side, but for an occasion, the full coverage. Thanks for some great new tips Taylor! I need that Essence product in my life too! xoxo
Either side your skin looks absolutely beautiful! Love this video 😘
With my mature skin I like to use a lot of cream products so I like the more dewy side but both sides are gorgeous.
I liked the full coverage but both are beautiful.
I love this video idea try it will like double wear or something that’s super to each end of the dewy or matte spectrum.
Beautiful!! Full coverage side was my favorite though!
Have t watched yet but so excited for this!!! Excellent idea!
Excited to test this out! Once we can get out and about that primer is on my list, just finished up my current one. Thanks Taylor!!! ❤️
I'm a matte gal all the way. Can I just say, Taylor, you look stunning BOTH WAYS! Stay safe!
I'd love to see this with more foundations!
Best part of my week! Thanks for all you do Taylor, hope you're staying happy and healthy! 😘
BOTH LOOK AWESOME BUT I LOVEEEEE THE MATTE SIDE IT LOOKS SOOOOO PERFECT!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Watching an old video to show some love while you're on break ❤
The video I've always needed! Once I like a foundation I need it to work for every occasion lol
The dewy side is pretty!
