    A complete quick run down of all 200 factory patches of the SY-1000 in 'Bass' mode.
    The SY-1000 has two modes, guitar mode, and bass mode.
    These are the 200 factory patches you get when the synth is in 'bass' mode.

    By the way Wayne, I don’t want to sound stalky but I’ve been following your coverage of synth guitar and bass for the last 15 years. Thank you for the wealth of information you have provided over the years. It has been extremely useful and informative. Great work!

    Some great pad and arpeggiated sounds, but quite a few that sound like muddy digital distortion. Still undecided whether this warrants the investment.

    Thanks for posting this! Do you think the SY-1000 is worth getting over the SY-300 (or something else) if I don’t plan on using a midi pickup and 70% of my synth needs are “metheny-plays-bass”?

      Based on what you are saying, you may be good sticking with the SY-300. The SY-1000 is really, really deep. But you can get lost in the depths, and some times loose focus on making music .

    Hi Wayne, just wondering, are you playing guitar or bass??

    • @WayneJoness
      @WayneJoness  4 года назад +1

      Sadly, yes this is me, not very inspiring, but I hope it gets the idea across of the sounds. I kept the phrases short, 200 patches is a lot to cover!

      @@WayneJoness I think had the same (or similar) question - it this a standard GK3 or a GK3B?

  • @sillyioussodus6373
    @sillyioussodus6373 3 года назад +2

    It's a crying shame when they made it with a gk input that they didn't include all or some of the gr(33/20/55) sounds as well , surely that now old technology could be all squeezed into a tiny little chip in the sy1000 carcass,
    Then you could really blend sounds .
    I used to gig with the gr55 on my bass for the bottom end piano sounds ,
    Most of the factory presets on the sy1000 are not hugely gigable ,

      With a US-20, you can A/B/Y the GK-13 into both heads and mix outputs on the back side of the chain. Alternately, if you want a permanent Y, look for the GKP-2 cable.

    Hi Wayne, I currently run a VB99 and Sy300. Thinking I might swap them out for SY1000. What do you reckon? Other than the hands on controllers of the VB99 would I be missing anything?

    • @WayneJoness
      @WayneJoness  Год назад

      I think that would be a really great way to consolidate your rig. Do you have a lot of custom patches?

  • @solo624
    @solo624 Год назад

    I have the gr55 , I notice if you layer some sounds, they tend to lag or miss trigger. What has your experience been or is it similar . Modeling better or in different than the gr55 or other boss products

    • @WayneJoness
      @WayneJoness  Год назад

      It really depends on the type of model, the physical modeling is always spot on, but some of the synth sounds can be glitchy

  • @dariushrezaei7783

    Does it have the sound of piano or drum?

    • @WayneJoness
      @WayneJoness  4 года назад

      No, this unit has synth sounds and modeled guitar sounds, it does not reproduce the sounds of drums, piano, acoustic instruments (other than guitar).

    Hi ! Thank you for this video ! Do you feel the latency when you use it with a bass ?

    • @WayneJoness
      @WayneJoness  2 года назад

      I really do not notice any latency at all, there is no MIDI latency, this is all signal processing and it is lightning fast.

    It sounds incredible that a simple “Moog bass” can't do. There are a lot of cool things, effects and such, but an “80’s Fat Synt Bass” doesn’t seem to exist. absurd.

    Most presets sound crass and gimmicky.. not exactly a selling point. WhatsUp?

    • @WayneJoness
      @WayneJoness  Год назад

      There is a lot in the synth, and I think the presets suffer from the burden of trying to demonstrate all the capabilities of the SY-1000. It would be great if there was (for example) a string bank that did only various string patches. That would be useful as a stand alone sound, or for layering with your guitar.
