I'd LOVE to see the interior renovations. I don't feel a third channel would be necessary personally as you guys won't be doing things weekly or daily forever and it would just add more pressure on you guys to put things out on that 3rd channel
I would LOVE to see the house renovations too. It doesn't matter if it's on a separate channel. A separate channel would let audience choose though. For us fans, we just watch everything cause we are addicted. Garden Answers and all branches of the channel is such a feel good channel.
Am I the only one who looks for Ken's Editing Easter Eggs?! He dialed that saturation all the way over while Laura was talking about over-edited photos!! I just died laughing! Thank you, Ken for your humor :)
I have got to say how much I enjoy the banter between you and Aaron. I’m so glad that he is now joining in. When I watch these videos it feels like I am hanging out with my married friends, sitting around the dining room table listening to them having a conversation. I just love it. You guys crack me up.
I have never thought of returning a plant even with a guarantee. Once it's at my house and planted (or not) it is my responsibility. I am with you Laura!
It would have to be a very expensive plant for me to even take the time to take it back. I'm lazy like that. Takes too much planning and time management for me.. lol
I don't know if anyone else thinks this but the conversations that happen between these two are AWESOME. I would sit for hours listening to you talk about the garden and the house and what you want to do. There is no question about it, the love and respect for each other is loud and proud. Thank you so much for letting us into your life.
Wife of a contractor here. My only advice (and we say this to literally every client) is once you two agree on something, stop looking 🤣 don’t get on Pinterest or google or Instagram. You will always find something you like better. You just have to pick and go with it. Also, best ice comparable to hospital ice is the big bags of sonic ice. You can literally get it through the drive thru, it’s like $2 a bag! Also lastly, you two should do a big video 5 years from now showing all the changes in your spaces, it’s fun to reminisce on the old times and be proud of what youve built!
I would rather see real life processes with garden and home renovations than separate channels. However, if it would make it easier for you guys to keep the projects separated, go for it. I’m going to enjoy every video you make. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Oh heck yes! Came here for garden info and stayed for everything in between! If you were to do home renovation videos in the fall/winter i don't think it would really take away from your main channel...I'm not going anywhere! 🥰
Instead of a 3rd channel could you schedule them on just Saturday and or Sunday and make those days your renovation days. I know it sounds silly but I miss your videos on Sundays.
I used to teach an adult English class in South Korea, and they wanted to watch some Garden Answer because I'm such a fan! So I gave them homework to listen to/take notes on a short clip. They had to slow it down to .25 speed in some places and ultimately decided it was way too fast for them 😂 But they really enjoyed the garden tour clips.
We see how often we use expressions when we film it, I filmed a couple trips to antique outtings and realized I said everything was "lovely' A thousand times...I said to my recorded me "Why don't you say lovely another one hundred times LOL"
Semi-retired and my morning routine. Love watching you guys. Gardening - bring it on, Hartley - bring it on, home renovations - bring it on, watching Benjamin eat blueberries and saying ‘Wonderful’ - bring it on. So informative and entertaining. Russell isn’t a mouser - he is a fly catcher!
I love when you guys do repeat videos! I need to see and hear things multiple times for it to sink in. Plus it is great to know what you are working on as the seasons change. It's a reminder for the tasks I need to do.
Regarding Proven Winners giving you and other content providers plants to use in your projects, I just want to say that it works! I have learned (and have ordered) so many plants that I never even knew existed before because I have watched your videos and have fallen in love with the plants I see you using. So - way to go Proven Winners!
yes - I just received the Proven Winners catalogue - up here in CANADA...so few places for me to find these glorious plants Laura talks about....will follow up...love hearing Laura, Aaron, and Benjamin
Me also!! Totally informative, even if I don’t buy the specific plant/shrubs I look them up and have learned SO much! I am so putting in a rose garden next year with all the suggestions of different rose varieties to pick from. I too look for Proven Winner plants now!!
Laura, I'd still watch you plant potatoes 3, 4, 5 times and find it interesting and educational. Sometimes I need to see it done a few times in order for it all to sink in and remember all I need to know. There's a LOT with gardening!! I'm not a slow learner either, there's just a lot to remember! Besides, you really are good at what you do!!
I agree! Even when I “know” how to do something there is something that cements it all in my brain when it’s visual. Also, us gardeners simply just enjoy watching all things gardening whether it’s in out garden or theirs!
Oh, my word! I love you all so much. It's incredible that through so much world trauma, you've all brought so much light to me and my whole family's lives. You all are so positive, kind, generous, and you really help me be that way too. I've been able to find a way to serve others around me that I couldn't tap into until I started learning from you. We would LOVE to see house renos and if you could just do it on the highlights channel, that would be great!
Hey Laura - I personally LOVE when you say “Oh that’s so pretty”or “Isn’t that pretty” - really! IT is YOU to me so please don’t stop. You can’t help it you are surrounded by so much pretty!!!
Oh well done Ken!....the timing of that saturation button was spot on....and showed what Laura was talking about to perfection !!.....master editor my man!!
YES! Please share all things Aaron and Laura lol You and your entire family are just so refreshing to listen to and watch. I know, I sound corny but these videos are my downtime from my crazy, hectic life...I often don't even "watch" them, I just listen. Thank you for providing clean, fun, genuine videos! I adore you and look forward to some fun renovations!
After all these years watching you and Aaron it’s like you are family now ! I start each and every morning watching your videos so gardening or renovations I don’t really care 🤣 I just get excited for any new project you take on and are willing to share with us 🥰
After working in retail my whole life I would say, people don’t understand how often people return things after buying them, using them and then bringing them back. Sad to say but some people live like that, just lie about the reason for the return. I’ve had frequent flyers that you got to know for the habit of returning. I can see how someone would buy plants for an event, then return. It’s sad.
I have never ever returned a plant or even thought about it. I always buy the "dead" looking discounted plants and challenge myself to bring it back to life. 9/10 I win 😁
Me too ! I go to Lowe’s and go to their sad plants first! But homedepot takes theirs to the back and runs them through the crusher ! I know because I used to work for them !
Gravel is definitely has a more country, "soft" appearance rather than pavement--it would probably be cooler as well. Looking forward to seeing your renovations.
Well, I don't know about the rest of my GA Buddies - but I found this extended recap; a rainy day delight! So good to have Aaron interject throughout and get the Yin and Yang of it all. Laura and Aaron are perfect compliments to each other - not "matchy matchy" but more like coordinating patterns. Can't wait to see the Hartly - It's going be GRAND!
I love the idea of doing the renovations as videos, especially during the winter months. That is the life of a gardener. We save our indoor projects for the winter time.
I’d love to see the renovations! I wouldn’t necessarily want another channel, just throw it on the highlight me channel! All of your RUclips “friends” love your family and all things you are doing!
A 3rd channel would be awesome...I could watch you hang laundry out to dry. Love all your videos, whether it's the same thing different season/year, home improvements, antiquing with your mom...there's always something to learn. Love seeing you with your babies and just being who you are. You're a delight to watch! 🥰
Early swimming lessons. Start them out knowing what to do in water. And I think the earlier you start them with swimming lessons the easier it is for them to learn. Just my opinion 💚🙃
I found that to be true. I started all 3 of my children at 6 months. They're all grown now. I myself didn't learn until high school and almost drown several times. Had a great fear of water by that age and missed out on a lot of fun with my friends because of it so made a decision early on that my children would learn early.
My niece was a WSI (water safety instructor) at a nearby YMCA...she taught all ages to swim, starting with infants. At that age it's more teaching them to float on their backs and to hold their breath underwater (blow bubbles) than to a totally swim. It's heartily encouraged when they have access to a pool whether a neighbor's or a family member's. Kids are so quick, it takes only a moment's distraction to lose sight of them. And most kids are fascinated with water. Please consider classes for Samantha Grace and Benjamin, it won't erase your worry but should give you a little less stress about it.
But you cannot control with any children visiting or children dropping in on the property because they heard about the pond. You can't be responsible although you will feel like you are for anything bad that happens. You can't control everyone else's kids.
Our mommy and me classes started at 3 months! Their premise was the womb memory is great at that age. But water safety is imperative! A neighbor or friend may have a water source!
These recap videos are my favorite. On Benjamin getting lost... I have 3 boys (ages 3, 5 and 6) and 2-way radios are a life saver. They each clip one on before they head outside. My 3 year old doesn't quite know how to talk back in it, but it's clipped on his belt so when I key it up it's like a beeper alarm for wherever he is. Not that they're left unattended. We just have a big yard 😊
The moving of the camera that you do is something that I absolutely love. The camera work and editing that is being done on this channel really makes it. Sometimes it's really annoying to watch the "fast forward footage" because it doesn't really tell you much of anything--but the way y'all do it--it's so pleasing and rather artistic. So basically what I'm saying is - it's totally worth it. Love your channel!!!!
You don’t need a 3rd channel. We love it all! And buy some shirts already. I think you have earned something new even if you don’t enjoy shopping. Reminds my of the time I caught my mom sewing elastic in her unmentionables.☺️
Yes, please add some of the interior changes! You always incorporate your love of plants as you rearange within your home so it will conrinue to inspire us. Love your style!
I agree that giving flowers away is a wonderful thing. Yesterday I made four bouquets from the bounty of my garden and drove around giving them to friends and family. It does everyone’s heart good.
As far as another chanel, YES PLEASE! I love everything you all produce and it would be great to see how your home evolves. I am a broke *** graduate student dreaming about the day I can do what you're doing now. I live vicarously through your videos, so please share all the process! Also, I meant to share with you on your antiquing video: you and your mom remind me so much of my mom and myself, wandering around together and hanging out. It was a family experience I needed while homesick for family in the PDX area. Hugs from Galway! 🍀
They should watch the video where Laura was trying to dig up the tree from the Moon Garden! They would know that Laura doesn't have 20 people doing her work for her!
Yes, please have a channel showing your documentation of your home improvements when you start doing them. It would be so fun to see. Love, love, love watching you and Aaron along with Benjamin. Someday, Samantha Grace will be a part of the “show” also. Such sweet little ones!
"The hospital ice"! YES!! When my middle daughter spent her first week in the Cardio NICU for CHDs 5 years ago (she is blessedly fine now), the saving grace was the hospital ice and large containers for drinking water or just munching on. And I also talk fast when I get going on something exciting or something I am passionate about.
We call that ice “pebble ice” or “nugget ice” here in the south and GE makes a machine called the Opal nugget ice maker. I would get the 2.0. version since they made several improvements with that model. It isn’t cheap since it is a niche product, but the ice is incredible! If you buy your ice now, eventually it would pay for itself, maybe a few years? 😂
The GE Opal ice machine makes great ice......WHEN it works! In 6 months, we’ve had 2 machines. The first one was brand new but stopped working after a few weeks. Dealing with their customer service was very time consuming and frustrating. We finally received the approval of a replacement machine and paid the $300 deposit they required before they would send it to us. (The deposit would be refunded to us if we sent the broken machine back to them within a certain number of days. We did not particularly like having to pay the deposit however, we had no choice if we wanted a working machine.) It was at that time we were notified that the replacement machine would not be a new one but a refurbished one. Again, we were not happy with it not being a new machine (like we purchased a few weeks prior) but that was our only option per their customer service dept. Two plus months later, we finally receive the replacement machine! It worked great.....for all of about THREE weeks!! So now, here we go again.
I’ve had the first version for over three years now and we use the ice every day and haven’t ever had any issues. It is an expensive machine but I can’t imagine life without it anymore. Ha ha
I'd LOVE to see the renovations. I think just adding it to this Highlights channel would be sufficient. As for the brick selection, can you get a panel sample size, like what's on the wall & lean it up against the Hartley once it's built so you can see it in the sun & the space you're going to have it? I feel like those red & orange tones will REALLY clash with all the beautiful soft/pastel colors you plant with.
1:00:50 “...but I’m right!” Yes, Laura, you are. Totally agree with you. Garden centers and growers are not Costco. You are spot on in your view. Aaron is really good at being “devils advocate!” 😂 I guess I feel the same because I used to work at a garden center.
I totally agree!!!!! For ordering online maybe different situation. But if you buy from a garden center & can inspect the plants and choose it - it’s yours!! If it’s a crappy garden center go elsewhere.
I worked at Home Depot in the early 2000s, their 1 year plant guarantee drove me nuts. Someone coming in after 11 months with a an unidentifiable plant (a dry stick with roots basically) wanting to return it 🤬 returning annuals that died at the end of the season 🤯 or situations where the plant the brought in was obviously not the same plant as what was on the receipt the were using for the return. I would refuse returns in cases like that but the customer would almost always insist on talking to a manager & the manager would usually approve the return anyway. I guess they figured it was better to keep the customer happy & somehow it was worked into the store's operating costs.
So funny. I was telling my mom about you and she said the same thing "oh, she probably has a team of people who do everything" and I squashed that rumor real fast!
But she does have a lot of help though. They have people who help outside in her gardens(you can literally see them walking around outside behind her), an editor for the RUclips videos, a person who cleans their house interior, and one that cleans all the windows. Plus, they're lucky to have family and parents close and there's always someone available to care for their kids. Not everyone has even that.
@@jelatinosa oh for sure! I wish I had that. My mom has never seen any videos and she assumed Laura was the host and it was like how on hgtv they show some hosts holding a hammer and then have a crew doing all the hard work.
I love these Q & A videos. I get to hang out over coffee with Laura and Aaron!🥰 I always marvel at how kindly you speak to Benjamin and to one another.
The think the person who wrote the return plant question has never worked in a garden center... my 5 years in the field leaves me with the same view as Laura.
I work at a garden center and somehow we can keep things alive for months in cans but some mystery thing happens as soon as the plant leaves the property…”it just died” 🙄 agree with Laura
I work at a nursery…and share your sentiments. Rarely is there an actual problem with the plant being actually defective. When I have a plant, shrub or tree that fails…I know it is “user error”.
I too work at a nursery. We have a one year guarantee only on plants we install. Even that is risky, because after we install correctly, the owner could leave for two weeks and never water, and the plant dies. It is a risky challenge!!! I'm with Laura on this one!! Great video, and NEVER too long!
Laura, love your channel, I've been watching from the beginning and have learned so much from you! You said you drink about 5 cups of coffee a day, plus Pepsi, and you drink coffee in the evenings. No wonder you don't sleep! Please be careful with all the caffeine consumption, it's not good for you!!! Just caring for my favorite garden girl! ❤
Yes, bring on the home renos! How about a playlist with the house reno videos here on this channel? It might bring some new subscribers to this channel as well!
I'd LOVE to see the interior renovations. I don't feel a third channel would be necessary personally as you guys won't be doing things weekly or daily forever and it would just add more pressure on you guys to put things out on that 3rd channel
Agreed!
I would LOVE to see the house renovations too. It doesn't matter if it's on a separate channel. A separate channel would let audience choose though. For us fans, we just watch everything cause we are addicted. Garden Answers and all branches of the channel is such a feel good channel.
I vote to just include on the main channel!
Agree!! No need for a 3rd channel!! Just post it wherever! We’ll watch!!!
Either way sounds great.
YES YES YES we want to see the home reno videos!!! Could they not just be posted to the highlights channel instead of a 3rd one?
I was thinking the same thing. They could update the name to Garden Answer Highlights and Home Improvements or something along those lines.
Could call it Garden Answer Home so it would be in its own category.
My thoughts exactly.
@@SusannB This is a great idea.
Agree!
Am I the only one who looks for Ken's Editing Easter Eggs?! He dialed that saturation all the way over while Laura was talking about over-edited photos!! I just died laughing! Thank you, Ken for your humor :)
Yes, I caught that as well and had a giggle over it. Fun times with Ken! :)
@@porchswingdesignsmarilou7323 glad Im not the only one!! Made my day!

Yes we all noticed the super saturation on Laura funny! 😸
I thought I was having a stroke. 😂
I have got to say how much I enjoy the banter between you and Aaron. I’m so glad that he is now joining in. When I watch these videos it feels like I am hanging out with my married friends, sitting around the dining room table listening to them having a conversation. I just love it. You guys crack me up.

I would watch anything that starts with “Hey guys! How’s it going?” ☺️
Are you kidding! We will watch anything with you and Aaron silly. Yes, of course!
Exactly.
Amen to that!!
I don't know if anyone else thinks this but the conversations that happen between these two are AWESOME. It makes me feel like I'm part of your family listening to you and Aaron talk back and forth. I just feel included.
They need their own talk show!! (Just kidding -- I love what they do now so I wouldn't want to give that up!)
I agree, I really enjoy these videos... Anyone pickup that it looked like Aaron stripped out for a bit? Really enjoy the banter between you two!
Sorry darn spell check...meant "stepped" out. I am sure if he stripped out WE all would have noticed that!!😆
They speak with their hearts. ❤
Aaron: "Your videos are fake. You make fake videos."
It took a second, but Laura's face 🤨! Love their back and forth 😆
I know!!! I laughed at her face. She’s capturing b-roll footage all by herself! It’s a lot of work.

Yes I went back to watch it :)
That was awesome!!! They are all knocking these videos out of the park this year.
Yes!!
Awesome, Ken! Thanks for the laugh!
I noticed it too and had to watch it again to make sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me! How funny!!!

I think using the expression, "It's so pretty!" sounds nicer and is easier on the ear than, "That's cute". You stay as you are, Laura, we all love it!
Definitely have to agree, it's her personality that has me watching her DAILY
We see how often we use expressions when we film it, I filmed a couple trips to antique outtings and realized I said everything was "lovely' A thousand times...I said to my recorded me "Why don't you say lovely another one hundred times LOL"

It happens at 9:12, that Russel really was fun to watch today while listening to Laura and Aaron.

Gravel is definitely has a more country, "soft" appearance rather than pavement--it would probably be cooler as well. Looking forward to seeing your renovations.

I had to too! 😂
I also missed it 🤔
Lol had to look to see if someone time stamped this😹
Love your editors sense of humor as he enhanced “your” color as you discussed the seed catalog saturated color. So funny!
Yes for the interior renovations! Don’t mind whatever channel it’s on.
Yes 100% would watch a 3rd channel with home Reno content 😄😎
@@donnajoyner1474 My kids were going off the diving board at 1 year old but I was working with them myself.
27:50 Ken 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣
Sounds like you were raised right!
I agree on your thoughts on returning a plant, I’ve never returned a plant.
Pavement gets hot hot HOT in summer. Creates ice rink in winter. And acts as a retaining wall creating spring ponds/mudpits. Glad you prefer gravel.
Idk how many times we have to tell y'all we would literally watch anything you show us! 🤨 So yes please show the home renos😊😊😊🤗🤗
When I think or say "so prettyyy" I automatically think of you Laura, don't change that!! 😄💛
Renovations? YES ABSOLUTELY 💯
Good idea about waiting on the pond. The friends liability is real. I worked with someone who had that happen.
I'd love to see the renovations. Whatever you & Aaron do is all good.
27:52. Did Ken click on that saturation button? 🤔🤣🤣🤣, Laura’s face turned a little red. Ken, you made your point 😂
YES!!!! A THIRD CHANNEL!!!!!! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! We would love to follow your home renovation journey!!!!
"That's BA- LONEY" Ha ha. You tell em' Laura.
Exactly, I feel so bad for her when she was trying to plant in the windstorms
They should watch the video where Laura was trying to dig up the tree from the Moon Garden! They would know that Laura doesn't have 20 people doing her work for her!
@@fraukeg.facchini2691 Right, thanks for your comment, I was able to correct my mistake lol
Yes, please have a channel showing your documentation of your home improvements when you start doing them. It would be so fun to see. Love, love, love watching you and Aaron along with Benjamin. Someday, Samantha Grace will be a part of the “show” also. Such sweet little ones!
Zuckerberg pop up was hilarious
Benjamin is old enough for swim lessons ! Mine took them at age 2-3, fully swimming by 3.
I picture the greenhouse being a “sanctuary” 🥰🪴🌱🌹🌸🌺🌻🌼
Oh, that's good. Retreat came to my mind but sanctuary sounds more fitting for a Hartley.
YES! YES! YES! A MILLION TIMES YES! Home and Garden Answer has a ring to it don’t you think?
Or garden answer home edition 😉
"The hospital ice"! YES!! When my middle daughter spent her first week in the Cardio NICU for CHDs 5 years ago (she is blessedly fine now), the saving grace was the hospital ice and large containers for drinking water or just munching on. And I also talk fast when I get going on something exciting or something I am passionate about.
I would LOVE to watch the progress in your home renovations. So exciting!!!!!💛
LOL! Russell at 9:31 catching and eating insects in the background is hilarious... Love it!
..real, small mouse? Lol!
Right!!! 😹
Laura has an amazing general knowledge... I mean come on... The stalagmite thing had me cracking up🤭🤭🤭
We call that ice “pebble ice” or “nugget ice” here in the south and GE makes a machine called the Opal nugget ice maker. I would get the 2.0. version since they made several improvements with that model. It isn’t cheap since it is a niche product, but the ice is incredible! If you buy your ice now, eventually it would pay for itself, maybe a few years? 😂
Now I’m looking at one of these, an ice machine I didn’t know I needed 😂
Ha ha
@@kathyparker8636 that’s too bad. Is that the original version or the 2.0?
We love our GE Ice Machine!
My day is made, I love when you pick my questions. It seriously makes me so happy. ❤
Russell is so precious laying there behind you.
You two were quite chatty this time. Hilarious! Thanks for making me smile and laugh at the end of kind of a tough day.
Sorry, you're taking about your "style", and I'm just watching Russel kill and eat a bug. TOTALLY missed everything you said. 🤣🤣🤣
And then he proceeded to take the longest bath EVER!😂
I was watching the same thing🤣
😂😂😂 I knew this would commented on ALOT!
LOL Russell, you made me miss 1/2 of what Laura was saying. LOL
@@kelleywright486 I bet if she did an instagram for Russell and Cheddar it would go big.
Yes to the home renos! It would be great to see real life renos instead of HGTV renos!
So glad you posted a picture of “cypress knees” - I’d never heard of that before! Interesting.
I would totally watch the home projects. I love that stuff!
Somehow I can’t picture Laura having a glam team lol 😁 even though she always looks fabulous! Definitely not how I look after a day of gardening 🥴😂
YES, take us along on the journey of the home renovations!
