Favourite long wool, short wool, and non-sheep fibre that you spin? Also, do you combine fibres? If so, how do you manage the differently staple lengths? Have you ever prepped an alpaca ‘fleece’?
I'm so glad your bobbin survived the accident! Maybe you could put a wash cloth (? washandje) around the handles of the combs, to prevent your skin from getting irritated? I know that people who use crutches do that sometimes. I actually had a great first week, I went as a reenactor to a medieval castle and spun the whole afternoon on my spindle. It was a lot of fun, me and my friend got to tell some people about how yarn and cloth is made. I also fell in love with my spindle, and one of the other reenactors who is a woodworker gave me a new spindle too!
ooooh, a personally crafted spindle! Reenactment spinning is something on my bucket list. I've done both but never in combination. I will however also be venturing to a castle later this month and plan to take a handspindle with me :D (also, did you know that washandjes are actually only a thing in Belgium and The Netherlands -and some regions around the borders- and that IKEA needs to make them specially for these stores? All the other countries have a "true" wash cloth)
@@MijnWolden i know right! Although he didn't make it especially for me, he made a few some time ago and still had this one laying around, but STILL! It's very lightweight though, I'm not yet friends with it :P Also, I had no idea! Washandjes are so useful!
You are not cheap thanks for sharing tips to save money some of us have no choice but to be careful with our money another great video sending warm hugs from Katy from NZ 😊
I’m so glad your bobbin survived surgery! And thank you for keeping things honest and real, we all appreciate it. Hooray for persevering through! Can’t wait to see the yarn 😊 For TDF I am spinning a BFL/mohair blend on supported spindles, a polworth/silk blend on one wheel, and hopefully finishing the first skein of a huge combo spin (1 braid targhee, 1 braid Jacob, and 1 braid I don’t remember it’s been so long 😂)
Glad you were able to get some spinning done despite your technical issues. I was planning on participating, but I am dealing with some vertigo, and watching something spinning is not going to work right now. Disappointed. At least I can enjoy your spinning!
i am so glad, the bobbin survived! and i am so with you on sunday evenings.. and during work, thinking of my wheel. you really captured that in the slow motion scene. perfect! the zwartbles looks lovely, as flecce, floof and spun
I haven't gotten to spin yet bc irl is kicking me in the butt T.T I love your niddynoddy, I fell in love with it when I started watching your channel, there's just something so cheerful about it.
Glad your bobbin made a full recovery and you were able to keep spinning. The agricultural thingy looks like fun. I hope it started some good conversations. My tdf is going well. I'm working on an old (from 2017) sock spin, so I had to take a couple of days to run the previous bobbin through the wheel again to add some energy back into the yarn. Then came maths 🤯 to figure out what combo of fibres I'd gone with, because past me didn't make notes yet. Now I'm on to the fun part of spinning again, plus more fibre prep. Hoping to maybe have 3 bobbins done by next week, when I have family visit from various parts of the world. Rude of them to demand my time during tdf 🤣
@@MijnWolden It's the most technical thing I can manage. I try to note how my wheel is set up and how I've split yarn. Then if I remember, approximate metres of finished yarn. That's it.
Cannot stress “don’t spin through the pain” enough! I was spinning to a serious deadline after not leaving myself enough time… I could feel the tendon in my thumb was getting badly damaged, but kept spinning. I ended up with really, really bad tendinitis and a cyst over my thumb joint 😭 And couldn’t spin for over two months!
The bobbins louet makes now are smaller. But once she has some yarn on her, everything goes smoothly. The rattling is only there when the bobbin is empty.
@@MijnWolden Good to hear she still works once there's some yarn on there! And I think it has more character with a little rattle. Also now you have a story with that bobbin.
The Alden Biesen footage looked familiar! Great location for a spin ❤. Question (not wool related): Since you obviously like history and you obviously like castles; what is your favorite castle?
More question? More questions!
@@SensiblyTina Great question! And there is a whole video worth of an answer! Good luck with that one Jente! 😁
It is indeed an entire video's worth, so I hope it's not too dissapointing that it will not be featured in these TdF vlogs 😅

Lets be honest, a tiara just isn't the goblin core vibe. The pointy hat is perfection.
It's true 😁

Maybe to make your true friends "the combs" handle more comfy, you could cover them with the same grip ribbon I use for tennis rackets 😉
Hmmmm.... might be worth a try!

The support team is an integral part of any Tour, be if France or Fleece ;)
Your Afghan is very pretty. I like the colors.
Thank you ☺️
Oh you could still maybe paint some gold on the glue line on the bobbin to imitate a kintsugi repair.
Ooooooooooooooooooh this idea!!!! I love it.
I laughed so hard as you ran in slow motion toward your wheel!
Thank you, I love making you laugh 😁

The bobbin now has her own unique voice, but she has recovered thanks to your prayers :D
That blanket on the side is gorgeous!!! Does anyone know the pattern? Is there a video on it?
No video and no specific pattern, but if you look for tunisian crochet 10 Stitch blanket, you'll find how it's made. I made it with scraps ☺️
@@MijnWolden okie dokie, thanks for answering my question.

I might have secretly Stolen it from you 🤯
Your bobbins look big how much do they hold,it’s not cheap somehow you have to pay for yarn
I don't know exactly how much, but I finished the first skein yesterday at 120grams and 545 meters and the bobbin was not entirely full

It just might have 😂 don't tell him though 😉

Your are not 'cheap' but thrifty. Less $ on tools more on fiber :)
Not even € on fiber because local farmers and hobby breeders just throw their fleeces at me for free 😅
