    I was used to One note 2016 with the single page column to the right hand side of the screen. When Windows 10 came along, started using One Note for Windows 10 and the first thing that hit hard was the small space for the page due to the two columns for sections and pages. It is good on a bigger screen but when you are on the go using the SP7 or a laptop, its so inconvenient. Also, I had issues copying and pasting text from MS Outlook 2016 to One Note for Windows. This is where I stopped using One Note for Windows and moved back to One Note 2016. This is the version for me now.

      I agree totally!! How do I access or install Onenote 2016? I have Office 2019 now as I updated my PC and having issues accessing my old onenote files. If I try to login, does not like my work account email etc.

    I would prefer OneNote for Windows 10 to be the main version going forward, adding in the offline notebook functionality from the desktop app.

      Have you tried copying multiple (large) pages from one section and pasting them into another? It's so bad in OneNote for Win 10. I think there are some architecture constraints that mean it has to go... I'll miss the design in general though.

      @@oztabletpc I usually clone the page or copy paste small sections at a time.

    The side by side notes is awesome! It took me a while to realize you have to Open New Window, then snap them in Windows side by side, but great tip! Oh, and Woolworths?! Haven't seen one of those since my childhood! Great video.

    I think OneNote for Desktop has always had a setting to move the Page list to the left side and I prefer to have the scrollbar on the left too. The Notebook/Tab list can be unpinned to hide.

    The One Note for Windows 10's two large ribbons on the left either takes a large part of my screen and the notes area is just off centre to the right which is good when writing on my ipad but not on a desktop. When the ribbon hidden I can't see the other sections at all. I have to repeatedly hide and unhide which gets in the way of my workflow. It's much easier on note desktop where the ribbon is split into both sides which are visible at all times, even in full screen mode. Also the desktop version stores a local backup copy at all times, which can be zipped and stored in a hard drive as an emergency backup, just in case.

      @@himankan Спасибо за оперативный ответ. Но, к сожалению, вы возможно не поняли мой вопрос. Другой пример попробую привести. При создании новой книжки есть возможность создать ее в OneDrive или на своем PC. Как сделать так, чтобы она создалась и там и там? Чтобы в любой момент я мог зайти в OneDrive или в локальную папку на своем PC и увидеть мою книгу и все ее содержимое в одинаково актуальном состоянии?

    • @himankan
      @himankan 2 года назад

      @@alexf1515 I get what you're saying. In that case you need to create the notebook within the One Note app for desktop or open an existing one from One Drive, then it automatically backs it up to the web which can be opened anywhere in any device. You can also work on the notebook locally if you do not have internet and sync it later. Right click on the notebook on the desktop app to make sure the notebook is synced. So it's already present both in your system (within the app) and in the cloud at the same time.

    • @himankan
      @himankan 2 года назад

      @@alexf1515 To move the files elsewhere you can keep backups as I mentioned before and they'll all be backed up automatically. You can also set the backup interval as frequently as 1 minute if you really need. I keep the auto backup at daily or 3 day interval. Open Files> Options> Save and Backup and you can change both the duration and location for the backups

    2:13 - I love that draw tab! I hate how Office 365 updated and got rid of it in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and replaced it with something useless. Can’t add many pens, unlike before. Spend so much more time clicking a lot to use different colors when doing math work. Such a pain! I wish they could find a happy medium.

    Thanks for the Video! good points.
    Microsofts FAILURE and insolence:
    Microsoft has worsened the pen situation in Office 365. It might be nice for Surface and Touch Laptops (Big and essy to press) BUT they do not allow Shortcuts to the TOOLS anymore. Tnis is one of the reasons I still Use OneNote Desktop because it still has the old system (favourite pens)! Ordinary graphics tablet users are now 20% slower as one always has to click on the symbols in Word or PowerPoint.
    Hopefully Microsoft will reconsider their pen situation and will finally include every ordinary user again and will stop seeing everything through the Surface eyes.
    Looking forward to an updated OneNoteDesktop Version, why using the Win10APP for brainstorming only really.

      I hear your frustration, but remember that it's not "Microsoft" that makes these decisions, but a small group of people (real human beings) in a product group operating with the best knowledge that they have. The people I've met in the OneNote team are incredibly smart.
      When you say "old system" of pens, do you mean the ribbon style or quick access? The new Draw toolbar pens are all customisable, and sync across applications.

      @@oztabletpc I am sure they are smart and hard-working developers, which try their best. Indeed, they built a rock-solid programme. One of Microsoft’s product managers decided to roll the features out to the whole of Office 365 though, which is in itself a good idea IF it includes everyone. I also provide feedback via the feedback-button, so these issues get addressed and are read by the developers.
      My Problem in short:
      Old system (OneNote Desktop, old Word, PP): Left hand on shortcut-buttons or keyboard, right hand draws, then
      ALT + H1 + S-> Lasso Tool
      ALT + H1 + V-> Panning Hand (they sadly removed this feature in WIN 10 App, which makes navigation hard with graphics tablets)
      ALT+ H1 + 8 -> Forms (Circle, Square)
      NEW System (Win10 Word): No Shortcuts for these actions, hence the buttons on the graphics tablet can’t execute them, so for instance also navigating got harder. I must click on the actual buttons in the ribbon, which reduces the workflow by at least 10-20 % especially as a presenter, where I have to be fast.
      I do think WIn 10 has a potential and introduced some cool features.

    don't really like the windows 10 One Note version : it's laggy... and synchronisation with the cloud only is not the best option when you can't access an internet connection every place you go or when this connection is far from being optimal... I can really get rid of the "old version" ... just waiting for a maybe unique version with the best of both versions

    I have a problem with OneNote for W10 where I couldn't load the "open other notebook" option. once I close a notebook I can't retrieve them. I've checked their shortcut in OneDrive and it was fine. I could open them on browser but once I click "Open in Desktop" it would open in OneNote Desktop instead of ONW10. OneDrive storage wasn't a problem too since I have 1TB subscription. I wonder if anyone has any idea why this is happening? Microsoft website ain't helping either... 😞

      In ON for Win 10, drop down the notebook list and click on more Notebooks. As long as you're signed into the right account your notebook will show there and you can open it. If you want a Notebook to open with OneNote for Windows 10 when you click on "Open in Desktop" you will need to change your Windows defaults for OneNote from the Windows settings app. Keep in mind that OneNote Desktop will replace OneNote for Windows 10 over the next couple of years.
