To be honest, the 60's series, aka The Alvin Show is so underrated. Sorry, but even though I still like the 80's series, I just think it is lesser compared to The Alvin Show. Why? Well, let's start. 1. Personalities. We all know Alvin is a chipmunk with charisma and that Casanova charm. Simon is a intellectual, with an IQ just north of Einstein's, and Theodore is the lovable butterball of the trio. But overtime, people wrote fanfictions ONLY based on the 80's and beyond, or just based on traits from the 80's. Does the 60's series get any love. No. The 80's personalities are used in fanfictions, CONSTANTLY. Even up to the point where the characters, mostly Alvin, Brittany, and to a lesser extent, Simon, are portrayed as jerks. The 80's series is the reason why. Although Simon and Theodore got more spotlight, Simon had become a Deadpan Snarker, in addition to becoming somewhat a prick, along with Alvin and Brittany, but unlike them, he did not have an over inflated ego. Instead, it is out of bitterness for who knows what. Simon's gentlemanly behavior is not a problem, and neither is his intelligence. The only problem he has is his sarcasm. What do we know about the 60's Simon Seville? Well, for one thing, Simon bickered with Alvin a LOT LESS frequently as he does in the later shows, and now. And he wasn't sarcastic all the fucking time! What were Ross Jr and Janice thinking? No one in reality would take sarcasm seriously, or if so, then not in a gentle way. That's not all. Basically, Alvin and Brittany rival each other so many times that they can BARELY be seen as a couple that would last. They are both jerks, egotists, brats, and annoying hissy fit throwers. The worst part is they never learn their lesson, no matter how bad their actions are. 2. Lack of Females. And it is ONLY because there were no GIRL chipmunks. In the 80's series, they were introduced as the Chipettes. Now one of the situations they had were living alone, with no adult supervision. In their debut, they take the Chipmunks name, not even knowing who the real ones were, and basically sabotaging their rivals just to save their precious lives from going back to Australia. Then again, that is due to the manager not knowing this either. Another is that they came from Australia, yet the three didn't even speak with ACCENTS in Australia. Why? Is it because their voice actress couldn't do a proper Australian accent? If that is the case, then why bother saying that they are from Australia. Another is the orphanage. Obviously, they could have just gone to the police to help the girls out. I can understand they don't want to be separated. But would a family really take in three kids, knowing more trouble for them along the way. In addition, they were less disciplined than the Chipmunks, although this applies for Brittany the most. Because they were raised by a kind old lady, known as Miss Miller. The reason is because at the end of the episode "Cinderella, Cinderella", which shows about the only time discipline is shown, Miss Miller decides to go easy on Brittany by mopping HALF the floor that Brittany herself was told by Miss Miller, to completely clean. No discipline at all. The Chipmunk Adventure does not count because it is revealed that Ross Jr, the son of the creator of the chipmunks, and the former's wife Janice, the creator of the Chipettes, had immediately started making the movie after Season 1. At the time, Miss Miller was not introduced to US audiences until Season 4. By this logic, Miss Miller had not adopted the Chipettes yet, so the Chipmunks themselves would technically be the only ones to get in trouble, while the Chipettes get off scot free. Still think that it was a good idea to add female counterparts if the girls got better treatment for an action the boys would NOT be given the tiniest piece of mercy for? I didn't think so. In addition, Brittany is a complete female copy paste of Alvin, whereas Jeanette and Eleanor are rip-offs of the boys as a whole. 3. Charlene. Oh my Good Old Dear Lord. This had to be the one thing in the creation of the 1983 reboot that SHOULD not have changed. I mean, they made a change to the series, had an idea for a girl chipmunk, then throws that idea away, instead making the Chipettes be the females. Charlene would have been the perfect character for the 80's series. And they threw. It. Away. Because she only appears on Crocodile Rock with Alvin, she does not even have a personality. The worst part is that in fanfictions, the fanfiction writers decides to make Charlene the bad guy, or should I say bad girl. Or if that isn't the case, they just don't ship her with Alvin. Obvious fail right here. 4. Shipping variety. Obviously the fans have little to no originality in their fanfictions. The shippings are exactly the same. Then there comes a fan shipping so horrible: Alvon. Seriously? Who ships BROTHERS together? That is wrong on a major level, even for animals. How is it considered a mixed couple, if they are both male, and the same family, and same group. If anything, it's a homo couple. Mixed couples means shipping a character who is NOT their sibling OR counterpart. There is almost NO fanfiction that does NOT ship the Chipmunks with their respective Chipette. It is so repetitive, but it's better than the incest couples. 5. Heights. Seriously? They switched Alvin and Theodore's heights, and made Alvin taller than Theodore. Alvin is supposed to be the SHORTEST, not Theodore. Alvin was adorable as the shortest. This is another unnecessary change. 6. Stereotypes. Basically, this has a negative impact on boys AND girls. Alvin and Brittany basically give their species, animals, and children in general bad names. 7. The Theme Song. Oh, God. Please no. Why?! Why?! Why?! Why would they get rid of the theme song The Alvin Show had. And thanks to that, no one even much appreciates the brilliance of the 1960's, because it was a sexist era. Can you not see that no one cares?! The Chipettes are just female copycats of the Chipmunks. You might as well make more talking chipmunks instead of just rehashing the old ones, because it just proves how uncreative the new cast realy is. They would have been a lot more popular had they done that. 8. Character Replacement Only Clyde Crashcup is slightly remembered on three occasions, at most. What about Daisy Belle, or Mrs. Frumpington? Guess who replace and rip off of them: The Chipettes and Miss Miller, respectively. 9. The Voice Acting. Why is Theodore voiced by a woman in the remake if he and his brothers was voiced by a male in the original series. In addition, Dave sounds so...ugh...soft. What happened to the hair triggered Dave the 1960's had? Ross Jr. does not even try to sound like his father, and Janice does not even try to sound like a boy, thinking because her voice was sped up to high pitched that it would pass, but we all knew it did not pass at all. In addition, the additional voices they do sound almost the same as the Chipmunks and Chipettes would sound in regular pitch. 10. Singing There is a song in EVERY. FRIGGIN'. EPISODE. The Alvin Show did not even have this problem. As I said before, their voices are subpar compared to Ross Sr.'s, and their covers of both Sr.'s and other singers' work are almost as atrocious as the Chipmunks and Chipettes' looks. At least the 2015 series uses original songs, in spite of how cringeworthy they are, and how they made the characters look even more awful. This was super long to type, which is why I typed most of the reasons on a notebook page, and copy-pasted it here. That is all there is to it.

6. Stereotypes. Basically, this has a negative impact on boys AND girls. Alvin and Brittany basically give their species, animals, and children in general bad names.
7. The Theme Song. Oh, God. Please no. Why?! Why?! Why?! Why would they get rid of the theme song The Alvin Show had. And thanks to that, no one even much appreciates the brilliance of the 1960's, because it was a sexist era. Can you not see that no one cares?! The Chipettes are just female copycats of the Chipmunks. You might as well make more talking chipmunks instead of just rehashing the old ones, because it just proves how uncreative the new cast realy is. They would have been a lot more popular had they done that.
8. Character Replacement
Only Clyde Crashcup is slightly remembered on three occasions, at most. What about Daisy Belle, or Mrs. Frumpington? Guess who replace and rip off of them: The Chipettes and Miss Miller, respectively.
9. The Voice Acting. Why is Theodore voiced by a woman in the remake if he and his brothers was voiced by a male in the original series. In addition, Dave sounds so...ugh...soft. What happened to the hair triggered Dave the 1960's had? Ross Jr. does not even try to sound like his father, and Janice does not even try to sound like a boy, thinking because her voice was sped up to high pitched that it would pass, but we all knew it did not pass at all. In addition, the additional voices they do sound almost the same as the Chipmunks and Chipettes would sound in regular pitch.
10. Singing
There is a song in EVERY. FRIGGIN'. EPISODE. The Alvin Show did not even have this problem. As I said before, their voices are subpar compared to Ross Sr.'s, and their covers of both Sr.'s and other singers' work are almost as atrocious as the Chipmunks and Chipettes' looks.
At least the 2015 series uses original songs, in spite of how cringeworthy they are, and how they made the characters look even more awful.
