If their were Oscars given out every year for performances in specific scenes, Sean Penn would have gone home with one in 2013 based on his performance in this one. The way he shifted gears and left a poor old man (who's probably a made guy and definitely a boss in his own right) sitting their stunned and looking more than a little worried was just incredible. His portrayal of Mickey Cohen is straight up chilling.
@@joshuajuarez9930 we laugh at Chicago when they come here saying “wE hAvE OVEr 1o0o mUrdErs iN a mOnTh” lmao😂but when y’all hit the mainline y’all get spook lmfso
Why couldn't this movie have been just a biopic about Mickey Cohen? He was by far the best part of the movie but only got like 20 minutes of screen time. The rest of the movie was pretty lackluster anyway but it would've been so much better if Penn was the focus
Jordon Morgan I haven't seen this movie. After seeing the trailer I was not too impressed, the video game L.A. Noire is much better. But if Penn only gets 20 minutes of screen time then I am glad I did not see this film.
Yeah that was the most disappointing thing about this movie. Plus if you've seen The Untouchables then you'll know how this movie plays out because it almost literally has the same plot structure as this movie. Only the Untouchables is a far superior movie to Gangster Squad
Well The Untouchables wasn't flawless for sure but I felt it at least had better written characters and a more defined story. But yeah both have kind of an issue of the villain being the most intriguing aspect lol
Bc even Mickey Cohen in his old age couldn’t sell his own story. He was friends with the studio heads, and involved business with them. MGM, Warner bros, all of them. They gambled at his places, they hooked him up with movie stars for flings, he shut down the screen guild strikes violently for them, and they used his prostitutes. Mickey Cohen bank rolled and silently produced a number of films. Studio bosses borrowed money from him. Guys that worked for him such as Roselli and Stompanato bankrolled films too. They all played croquette, rode horses, and vacationed with studio heads and movie stars, not to mention the police. The gangsters literally lived in Brentwood and were accepted neighbors of the elite of Los Angeles and Hollywood. The movie studios are not going to make a movie about their own corruption.
Wish instead they did the film about the turf war between Mickey Cohen and Jack Dragna for control of the LA rackets after Ben Siegel’s death. Would’ve been awesome since Cohen alone survived 9 attempts on his life
Fuck no... We don't need no Scarface remake... Actually Scarface with Al Pacino is a remake of the 1932 Scarface , I prefer Al Pacino version better tho. But yeah we don't need another Scarface film but there are some rumors that I heard that they are planning to remake the Al Pacino version with Leonardo DiCaprio as Tony Montana... hope they joking because nobody wants to see the remake of that Classic Masterpiece.
Seeing this makes me realize how big the hole that Capone left in the Criminal Underworld of America was. Big enough for guys like Cohen to wanna take their place at the top of the heap

When did they change the older guys lines from "You got the world by the BALLS out here" to "You got the world by the ASS out here"? Why is Hollywood changing dialogs to accommodate peoples feelings?
Am I the only one who thinks this is the worst mob boss portrayal? Sean Penn just doesn't cut it. Looked like he was trying too hard throughout the movie.
@@kerrlonjordan6816 haha fair enough. I'm guessing only people who liked his role will visit this video. It just messes with my brain that I love all his previous roles but this one just seems uncanny valley territory to me.
Penn was gold in this movie.
One of the most powerful gangster sit down scenes.
I agree, i might also add in equalizer when denzel sits down with the russian guy to have a chat with in the restaurant

You take what you can, when you can!
Penn just killed it. Pure gangster 🔥🔥
I watch this part all the time. Thx for the upload!
I love this actor!
Sean Penn is so great here! I'd be terrified of him. Speaking of mobsters, he kinda looks like Meyer Lansky.
Best scene of the entire movie
When someone took your pickle
Sean Penn “ this is my fucking destiny”
sean penn should play the new tony montana in scarface remake
nice one.
Or they should make a movie about Mickey Cohen and he should get the role.

Seeing this makes me realize how big the hole that Capone left in the Criminal Underworld of America was. Big enough for guys like Cohen to wanna take their place at the top of the heap
This movie had so many inaccuracies that it puts the stink in BS.
I like this

Ramiro Gomez Jewish
You wouldn't talk to Tony like that. Its like committing suicide
Job finished?
This movie could've been so good and Penn could have been an award season contender if not for the god-awful dialogue.
Davey kleinfeld became a gangster
Thank You Nigga!! I AM progress!!
In reality he gets his ass kicked by Dragna
He didn't.
Sean Penn speaking with El Chapo in Mexico during the 2012 Raid of Mexico 🇲🇽 Why?
