I've had a decades-long fascination with royal history, and I absolutely love your videos! Thank you for your time and dedication putting them out. Very much appreciated and enjoyed!
Did I hear correctly that the narrator said Princess May of Teck had been *married* to Prince Albert Victor? The biography of Queen Mary I read said Prince Albert Victor succumbed mere weeks *before* the wedding took place. I don't think this was a replay of the Prince Arthur Tudor / Princess Catherine of Spain/ Prince Henry Tudor marriages. As far as I know, May was not Albert Victor's widow when she married George. As it turned out, May was considerably better off marrying George.
I’m sorry but the decision to not allow Tsar Nicholas and his family asylum in England was not heartless. Unfortunately, he had to make the hard decision to protect his own family that he made. His wife and children. He knew that there was a high chance for a revolution against the royal family and that put his family and his self in danger. I’ve done extensive research on this, in fact it wasn’t even his decision fully. The decision was made in the end by him. He regretted this for the rest of his life, but it was a necessary decision to keep his family safe and his standing in England. Please don’t use words like heartless because I assure you it was everything but heartlessness. Other than this is a wonderful video and I enjoy all of your content! Please keep striving for you channel it’s AMAZINGLY DONE!! ❤
@@PastPeople if you look into things, Queen Mary actually made a more detached from this decision. She was able to view things from an outside perspective. To where King George was so close to Tsar Nicholas he was going to provide asylum no questions asked. However, Queen Mary knew that could be a very dangerous decision. She was a strong presence behind the actual crown, hence why she suggested the name change to Windsor. She had a logical mind during this time. To where King George was closely related to most of Europe’s royal family’s through Queen Victoria, she was close enough to provide and outside perspective as she was only brought in by marriage.
Yes. The Tsar represented tyranny. The English people would not have allowed the British monarchy to continue. I think he made a hard but wise decision.
The photo at 4:15 is of George V and his cousin, Czar Nicholas II of Russia. The cousin George V abandoned-along with his entire family-to be murdered by the Bolsheviks. At 9:30, Prince Albert Victor and Mary of Teck were never married. Too many errors for me to enjoy this program.
In what way did George abandon his cousin to be m.urdered by the bolsheviks, do tell?? You say it as if the tsar and his family were m.urdered as soon as the asylum offer was withdrawn and thats not what it happens. It was the british government that withdrew the asylum offer after originally giving it to the tsar at first, not George (the king in UK has no power to offer or deny asylum) and by then the bolsheviks were not in power get, and the tsar and his family were not thought to be in danger. The bolsheviks came in power months after the offer was withdrawn and no one could have imagined what they would do with the whole family! Hindsight is always 20/20

King George V was so handsome, very handsome
I agree 😋
...and his cousin, Nicholas II of Russia.
@@goodowner5000 why must people bring up the tsar in every video about George? No one brings George in videos of the tsar!
George V's only glitch was he sired Edward Vlll. Other than that he was a faithful husband and decent king.
And that he didn't give asylum to his cousin Nicky
He was a terrible a father even for the times he was considered terrible

@@Beedawhsit you are so right. Queen Mary was an asset. She really saved the royal family.
@@stephaniemurria5534 without her we may not have even have a Royal Family. She was an amazing women and a huge asset to the Royal Family♥️♥️
The Bolsheviks were NOT a family. May and Prince Eddie were never married, do better editing please.
Killing so many animals just for fun...how DISGUSTING!
You mean his other first cousins the tsar and the tsarina are both his first cousins
Most pics you label Prince George are actually King George.
Because King George V was prince before he became king!
A mine shaft? Is that true?
Some errors but otherwise interesting.

George V didnt abandon them. The tsar abd his family were already captured by the bolsheviks who were determined to kiII them, no matter what

Worse video on the topic I've seen so far. Muddled presentation, some facts downright wrong. The droning narration doesn't help either.
