      Thanks! The ground is the case of the starter. There is a ground lead to the engine block and chassis from the battery

    Looks like I have the same problem. That 12 volt field wire looks pretty bad on my 2017 f150. I know the battery and relay are good.

      That’ll do it. Haven’t had any issues since I replaced it. I used a duralast from autozone since I was in a pinch too. I was reluctant to not use a ford part but it’s been fine.

      I ended up getting it after persuading it with a pry bar.

      I can imagine if there was any corrosion it might be a pain the break loose. Hardest part for me was getting it out from behind the frame cross member
