Quick review of the TBSS' cousin, the SAAB 9-7X Aero. This has subsequently been traded in---see Corsstrek video for replacement. No longer needed a tow vehicle.
the whole reason the ignition is in the middle on the saab is not to look like a jet fighter, its for safety so that in a crash your knee does not go into the key
The ignition switch was never there for aircraft inspiration, it was there for safety. Avoids you crashing your knee into the key if you get into an accident.
I have the 2007 Altitude edition. Look it up if youre not familiar with this version. 500 of them made which I didn't realize until I was stopped on the street and told how rare it was. I am putting the finishing touches on the suspension, new air springs, shocks and struts. I'm in Northern Oh if anyone is interested in it. very good condition.
Have you had any problems with the front axle assembly while owning this? Some AWD Trailblazer SS owners are having spline failures on the intermediate shaft.
Thanks! The AWD system in this should be engaged 100% of the time tho with a default torque split of 33% front and 66% rear. It uses a completely mechanical system with a Torsen T-3 differential. This system is completely different than the AWD system found in the 9-7x 4.2 and 5.3
No drivetrain issues.....yet. However, we live in eastern PA, and it very rarely snows these days. I think the awd only has been activated 2-3 times in the years since we have had it.
IloveBaklava I no longer have it. however, I am sure it is still going strong. Has a bulletproof 6 liter mated to the stronger truck trans. should be good to go!
alostfraggle lol, it was her daily driver/grocery gitter at the time. You are right though, but she should have had a beater instead----we just needed something decent to pull the camper. Now it is all gone, since we got rid of the camper, and she has a tiny Subaru!
You can just assume whatever vehicle you give the wife, that it will be destroyed. No matter what the rules----no feeding the kids? Well, look under the car seat once in a while and see if she lets them. Don't text and drive? Well, see what happens? Should have replaced it with a 1986 Dodge minivan for her!
Love the 9-7x, all “GM” Saab’s are re-engineered by Saab engineers to improve the chassis of whatever theyre using it from Same with the engine, they re-tune and re-engineer that too
The engine is the LS2 like any other LS2. Stop it. The suspension is the same as what is used on the higher trim GM variants with rear self leveling. The only "Saab thing" about it is the seats, and the center console.
Aircraft? Have you, like, been in an airplane? The "ignition" isn't in the center, that's for sure. One of the worst analogies ever used by the car industry is comparing their fairly behind-the-curve technologies to airplanes.
Believe me, I am well aware. Simply meant to be a jab at their old marketing-----"born from jets" LOL However, they aren't calling it an ignition, rather a center pedestal and control area.....they had to do something I guess. FMS, RTU's, anti-ice etc etc, , and sometimes throttles would be there on a decent fixed wing aircraft.... Any question on aviation technology, shoot me a message!
As an aviation junkie, I was at first enthralled when I saw a "Saab--Born from Jets" tv ad. That enthrallment quickly faded away.. that slogan is about as meaningless as Acura's new "Made for Mankind" tagline. Aren't all cars.. you know.. made for people? What's your background in aviation?
Well, 2 tours in Marine Corps aviation operations and program management, fixed wing avionics, both ship and shore based ---then a design and avionics integration stint--then moved into aircaft manufacturing and flight test for rotorcraft. Been a long painful road!
"don't put a can in here ... or it will break" ?!?! that one was from a true genius.. -.- never heard a guy says so many stupid things in one car video, congrats
Nuno Oliveira lol, well only the truth and fair warning. The holders are very fragile, and are a tight fit for a regular soda can, which if not supported, can cause the plastic holder to break. Feel free to search the forums of other owners and thier problems with these as well. Thanks!

I'd choose this over the Trailblazer SS! 👍🏼
The interior definitely looks better then its trailblazer twin.
"It's a trailblazer with a big ass motor"
+Eclipse Guy lol yup
The ignition switch was never there for aircraft inspiration, it was there for safety. Avoids you crashing your knee into the key if you get into an accident.
"Stripper sauce"🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the info...........I never researched how it worked. Hopefully we dont have any GM issues prior to 100k
Had this with the 5.3 and drove it for 100,000 miles with less than 2,000 dollars in repairs
Do these come with auto start from factory?? I just got one with the 5.3 and im trying to find out
So should I buy a used Saab 9-7x or a used ss

Hey I have a 2008 Aero, just curious on how our AWD is different then the 4.2i and 5.3i. Bc my friends has a 2008 5.3i with the altitude package
You sound well interested...
delicious stripper sauce

Nathan Zeiter its badass car
Loved the video , super funny !!!! "THE WIFE"
No drivetrain issues.....yet. However, we live in eastern PA, and it very rarely snows these days. I think the awd only has been activated 2-3 times in the years since we have had it.
do you still have the vehicle and if so, can you comment on the reliability? thanks.
IloveBaklava I no longer have it. however, I am sure it is still going strong. Has a bulletproof 6 liter mated to the stronger truck trans. should be good to go!
desertdualsport it has I believe a c6 corvette engine
Ls2 work the truck intake which don't make sense all the had to do was use the ls2 05-06 got intake 400hp,400tq.
She just had a full transmission rebuild, $4k later.
Why dont u let the wife drive the accord and u take the 97x?
She should've been driving it. She gets to drive the Honda ONLY!
alostfraggle lol, it was her daily driver/grocery gitter at the time. You are right though, but she should have had a beater instead----we just needed something decent to pull the camper. Now it is all gone, since we got rid of the camper, and she has a tiny Subaru!
Stripper Sauce! lol
*Don't let your wive's drive 6.0's*
You need a pair of shoes first :D
Yea.....you know, walk into the strip club and one of those hookers rolls up by, or on you. That smell lol
lmfao@stripper sauce!! "the wife" and the kids. If I can get my wife to stop feeding our daugther in the car............
You can just assume whatever vehicle you give the wife, that it will be destroyed. No matter what the rules----no feeding the kids? Desert guy you got that right
wait, women can drive?
:/ sir lurn common since pleeze
(LOL I LOVE TO MISSPELL THINGS)
Looks and sound like GM. Even the alarm sound is made in the secondo Mundo... Chevy style. Made for US market. Interesting though

That's why he said whatever afterwards. Chill out.
The reason Saab put the key in the center console never had to do with airplanes.
Lot of whatevers and I don't knows
"don't put a can in here ... or it will break" ?!?! that one was from a true genius.. -.-

This is the furthest from an Saab as you can get lol this is a trail blazer lol you don't feel like your in a aircraft because you have no turbos lol
5.3l not 6.0l
qwert19611 The Aero version has the 6.0 liter LS2, not the 5.3, look it up.
I’m sure your wife was one of the “Dislike” 👎🏻 clickers
