I’m happy to hear this is working for you all. I was forced into Uber and Lyft back in 2017 when I was laid off of my job. I received about $1300 in unemployment monthly and had to make the rest through driving. It was hard until I developed a system. Even then, it was still pretty tiring. There are no 2 days totally alike, so sometimes I would meet my goal in 5 hours and some days it took 10. I was happy to get back on a 9-5 and vowed that I wouldn’t do Uber and Lyft again unless it was part-time. Full time was just too draining for me.
I quit my 9 to 5 in 2012 as a casino accountant in Vegas. I was 38yrs old and had worked in the field for nearly 20yrs, with a bachelor's in accounting. When I quit, I had $60k in cash plus a 401k that I hadn't cashed out PLUS a little money invested in a business. I didn't quit while I was broke. I quit when I was up. I used my money to invest into a 3-car garage/shop (leased) and did that for 6yrs in St. Louis before moving to Arizona and buying a house here. My point: DON'T QUIT if you're already broke. If you're broke, your job all the revenue you have coming in. Get your bearings together and use your job as leverage to talk to a real estate agent to buy property before you quit. Without a job, you're gonna have a hard time getting equity in life. You can't bank on "ad revenue" and "gig work" to last forever, especially if the apps say they can deactivate you at any minute, for no reason.
I 100% understand and agree with this conversation. I’m actually in the process of quitting my salary position to work part time hourly because the stress was HIGH and the math wasn’t mathing lol
I'm not trying to quit my bread and butter. But I did go part-time. I've been doing eBay for the past few months to supplement. The difference is I actually like doing ebay vs working that extra day to be considered full time. 😊
Hello dear, here watching and supporting my fellow content creators, thanks for sharing this content, thumbs up done keep pushing forward, blessings to you
Dough Dash left me with no cash. My car broke down and they deactivated my account. I was doing Uber Eats + dash and made $150-$200 a day. I almost quit my business that felt like a 9-to-5. I'm so glad I didn't. Because my late husband got sick and died. There's no way I could do food delivery after the craziness I've been through. But, I’m happy for you! 🎉
Yeah Dough Dash has been on my feed as well. This is awesome, I got laid off a couple weeks ago. I’m thinking about taking a sabbatical and going from there. I really don’t want to go back to corporate, 9-5. I started my RUclips, been posted for a couple months, I do enjoy it. Keep it up Jay, you doing the thang!! Y’all so cute!!!
@@FunandBudgetawwww you are such a sweet pea!!! I need to start posting more. Ive got to get comfortable recording everything and talking to the camera. lol but I like it.
Dough Dash inspiring SO MANY! Im so happy to see this! Perfect timing while the new year is a couple months away and we just want to better our lives and make some good income to support our families! @funandbudgettravels right. But I tell you. I have worked many places and NEVER are they stress free. No business owner would say it's stress free either. Just like with driving job it's stress, because having a car broke down is stressful. So I understand
9-5 pays the monthly bills, funds the retirement, and investment accounts; gigs workers make 1/3 less after expenses and taxes. A full time gig worker can't not match a 9 -5 workers in pay and benefits.
Working gigs gives you back balance, peace and the ability to invest in yourself to put away from your own retirement. Earning potential is better than a company putting a salary on your worth. Putting up with what goes on at these jobs just for retirement accounts is not worth it. Pivoting and betting on yourself in the long run pays off for you.
@@foodandfitness1877 Agree. I know several people who worked 9-5 until retirement and did not have enough money for retirement due to their salary being based on what the company decided their value was. I'm not placing blame on anyone. But if one chooses this for themselves, it comes with risks: Trading "comfort" via that 9 to 5 (and all the BS that comes along with) vs. betting on yourself where there's no ceiling on your earnings potential.
Thank you for saying this because I thought it was just m 🤦🏽♀️ New age of cutting your mate off while talking, not learning Spanish to engage in dialogue and speaking for him when he is visibly present to speak for himself. Traveled to see each other monthly but only travel to see your child every other month. How did this land in my feed 🤦🏽♀️
@@MsPrice-pn2py I said this in one of these comments...but hopefully she (or anyone) doesn't build a lifestyle based on the youtube money. As a fake financial advisor (lol) I'd say to save up as much of the money as possible in a HYSA as an emergency fund...so that when the youtube gets to ebbing (because it will ebb) you have some reserves to cover you until it flows again...or else the next videos are going to be asking for donations because 'youtube did me wrong.'
I mean to be fair, it’s not terrible to do so if you are in a good position. I wouldn’t advise doing it if you are pay check to pay check but if you don’t have an emergency fund… well you are asking for trouble lol 😂
I disagree self employment is rewarding.Find what you love and monetize it and stay consistent. Hell u do half of that working for others. There’s no rule that says success has to be a corporate job 🤷🏽♀️
Good day, Jay & Tinesha! Tinesha, I have been following your channel since you Tesla purchase so it's been a minute. My question is, with a job like that, does Jay get health insurance? What about a pension or 401k?. Does Door Dash offer you these type of benefits to you Jay?
She's been doing videos for years and had one go viral. Dosen't mean, unfortunately, that the high views will continue. People get bored and move on to new channels. She should not count on getting that $6k every month until it consistently happens for 12 months straight.
I've been making youtube videos since 2016 - it has its ebbs and flows. I've had $8K months and I've had $500 months with google Adsense...its all part of building a business that can bring in revenue and all businesses have their ebbs and flows. I would say the important thing is to NOT build a lifestyle based off of a $6K month...that is where things will go wrong.
Setting up Uber as a legitimate business and pays himself through a payroll will give him the option to set up a 401k and contribute as the employee and match as the employer. This lowers the income tax he will have to pay and also lower taxes than a "freelancer".

I love the beginning. This is why it's good that the elders hook you up with your mate. The idea of dating around the world is a plus also.
The elders? Let the Lord pick your mate. He knows what’s best!

Jay, that makes so much sense being a Sup/ Mgr. Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Moral of the story: do what works for you. They did not make this video to persuade people to do what they did.

@ I had to pivot quickly when I got deactivated. I think that was a sign for me to focus on what I’m good at. I was trying to do too much.
U treat Jae like a child. And know more about his job, than he does.
I love these collaborations. By the way, Jay seems much happier away from the 9/5.

I make $28 an hour and work full-time only four days a week. There's no way I'm quitting my job. That would be absolute foolishness.

That could be true for some and not true for others. But for us, we opted for flexibility over a "higher" check.

In this video we explained why he quit his job 3 years ago...but yes, you have to look at your circumstances and do what makes sense for you
