- Part 2 is out, Watch here - • Exploring More Liminal...
So I haven't uploaded any LP stuff in a while, and I'm sorry about that. I wanted to try something a little new with this video because I see Liminal Spaces and just the old Source engine aesthetic is being talked about recently. Gmod was one of my first games on Steam and one of my favorite things to do in it is to download random maps from the Workshop and just explore them. There's something really comforting to me about just exploring lonely worlds, to imagine what they might be like in motion and with people in them, but there's the disturbing aspect to them that... they just aren't, most of the time. There's a certain eerieness to it that I've found fascinating for a very long time, and I guess I'm not the only one that's felt that way. I figured it might be cool to just explore some maps and try to match them up with some of my favorite ambient music.

gm_ocean_construct seems a pretty chill map and the song in the background makes it more beautiful
Out of all the maps in this video, ocean construct was probably my favorite. Great source engine aesthetic and is probably fun to mess around on as well.
I love you've added the songs of Aphex Twin from Selected Ambient Works Volume 2 and The Caretaker, too. You're awesome.
Thanks, man :D AFX and Caretaker are superb
Oh my god you can't punch me in the face with nostalgia this hard by throwing Mario 64 water level music over top of this video. AHHHH
Edit: Great song selection for these places dude.
Lmao, thanks my guy. Glad to hear I gave someone a nostalgia trip :D
_My name is Jack Woods... I don't know where I am, I don't remember how I got here, I only remember the last normal night I slept, on my bed, surrounded by people_
_Before waking up in this desolate place, it's perfectly functional, and aside from the fact it's in the middle of nowhere, I would expect people inhabiting it..._
_But upon a panicked lap around the entire place, there's not a single soul here..._
_I don't expect anyone to know where to find me, but all the hope I have left is this radio, someone find me before whatever this invisible lurking presence is... finds me first..._
Gm ocean construct is frighteningly close to a dream i had about a year ago, I was in that exact spot at night, and I was swimming around, that is so fucking creepy

There is massive snowstorm in my city, im feel very awful and have headache, randomly found your video...
God, how this is relaxing you wish know. Just simple gameplay, music on background, and massive memories in my head.
Cant believe how many things i remembered and also want to forgot.
I just cant describe full emotions "album" what i feel right now.
dear god...
wow...ocean construct its one of the most beautiful map that i've seen (also the afraid of monsters footsteps adds something to it)
Borealis:
You look out into the night, the pit of dark abyss. Your stomach sank. The feeling of no one else being out there. You turn to go back to the building, only to find it still dancing aflame. You just wanted to get back safely.
glad that i found this, it's weirdly comfortable and very nostalgic !!
i like how you say nostalgic
mood
The Mario water level music is incredibly nostalgic.
I agree
Me: Oh it's not that ba...
Jumps in the little section at 02:10 - OH F... I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'VE DONE THAT...
That honestly made me uncomfortable. deep water and tight spaces or holes underneath really do it for me with the bizarre uneasy feeling. Really well captured with these maps!
Never knew Gmod could look this good...
Everbody gangsta until the care taker makes them self clear
This is great! Please, I would love you to make more
:)
Man, Twisted Commune looked like what you'd imagine some Combine interdimensional prison would be. Basically they manage to capture a threat on the same level of Gordon Freeman and they knock them out and use a one-way teleporter to send them to this place, which acts in a similar way to our universe gravity-wise but has nothing to it save for an empty area of sky and the construct built by the Combine to house these threats. Each time they send a prisoner through the teleporter, a special system built into the construct (aka The Twisted Commune) or into some sort of security collar the prisoners would wear vaporizes the previous resident to avoid the possiblity of the prisoners being able to work together to escape. All that's left of them is any progress they may have made on their own and whatever living arrangements they may have made to survive on the construct as they attempted to escape, to no avail.
Oh man, this music selection! It's just banger after banger. First heard Aphex, I was like "this man has taste". Then you hit me with The Caretaker?! This man knows what's up!
This video put me at ease after having some pretty serious anxiety lmao
being from Quebec myself, rp_ecole_des_chutes_lmcrp_v3 really connects to me to a personal level as the text in the school was french and the flag outside was the Quebec flag, I presume this is based on an actual location irl.
borealis sandbox is really creepy to play on
Wait, this was posted on my birthday? Guess it was a gift I never knew I got, also nice Caretaker and Aphex Twin music.
I see you are a man of culture as well.
idk why it just recommended me this but I love it
this is somehow calming..
you're so underrated, this feels so familiar
pov: your trapped in the source engine
seriously underrated video
bruh
This makes me feel like I'm dreaming
Great stuff! Its really comfy.
Sometimes i play rp downtown to Atrium Carceri - feelsgoodman.
spectacular upload WalterREQUiEM. I broke the thumbs up on your video. Maintain up the great work.
When you think about any Gmod map with no one in it is liminal.
I discovered that by having the fire it becomes less sinister and immersive, i dont feel they are liminal at all
hey man! i was wondering if i could use your video in backrooms iceberg video, i would use it as gameplay for the video
Sure thing, i hope you link the video you make so I can see it!
this is nice
Part 2 is finally out! Thank you for the support on this video, and subscribe for more if this sort of thing interests you.

@Pandilleros wow, very creative
Stick yo mama
@@404rangernotfound2 obama
i like the first one
No offense to the creator of Twisted Commune, but he really needs to fix the texture alignments on the map.
19:12 Aphex Twin - Tree
Да конечно это не Самара... И не Пермь... И не Урюпинск. Так стоп ,а что это тогда?
what walking sound do you use?
16:13 Song?
That would be Submerged Castle from Pikmin 2.
@@walterrequiem6467 Thank you kind sir.
@@walterrequiem6467 I just looked through your channel. This seems to be your most popular video. You should try to make a part two.
@@AlexTheGamePlan Yup! I'm pretty pleased with how people seem to like this sort of thing, I am planning on making a sequel soon-ish. Thank you for confirming my suspicions that people wanna see more.
