Now that you've seen the bathtub scene, you should absolutely go watch the clip of it happening at the table. You can see the look on laura's face as she gets the idea to do this while percy and vax are talking and just waits for her opportunity. Also, your reaction was basically Liam's reaction lol.
The best part about the bathtub scene in the campaign was watching how in sync Taliesin and Laura were, he set the situation up perfectly and she jumped at the opportunity to simultaneously traumatize Liam and be the most hilarious person at the table.
To paraphrase Taliesin, he was trying to be cute and romantic in his role play with Vex. And Laura wanted to take… a different approach. He just followed her lead and let her do her thing. Percy is happy to give Vex whatever she wants.
And I think they said something to the effect that Laura looked at what Liam and Marisha were and basically said something like: "So we are doing romancing now? And your character's are awkward about it? Trust me Tal, I know what we are going to do...."
Keyfish sighted. Just a side note on the Bathtub scene, it played out at the table almost word for word....Magnificent and Brilliant, Both Laura and Taliesin, Love them both.
@@KevinDPomeroy They got everything they could out of the scene. They did a great job. But the best part of that was the cast reactions, and obviously they couldn't put that into the show.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 I generally agree. It was still great, one of my players didn't even think the scene was going to get included and I assured him that they would definitely find a way to get it in.
Here's how the bathtub scene went down in the live-play session: ruclips.net/video/-jyo0G87tVw/видео.html Keyleth turning into a goldfish is a reference to a fan-favorite moment from the live-play where Marisha horribly misunderstood how Matt was explaining the mechanics of a tall cliff to her. Keyleth leapt off the cliff for a trivial reason, proclaiming "we're basically gods" (they were high level), then when Matt described the cliff as sloped slightly outward, she pushed herself further out with a gust of wind spell. Then when he explained that she would probably hit the rocks at about where the cliff met the water, she decided to turn into a goldfish. Instead of a bird or something. She died instantly and horribly, and had to be resurrected because of that. A lot of "critters" have been crying to have that moment included in the show, but IMO it wouldn't make any sense. Most of the humor was from the interaction between the players and Marisha's misunderstanding, not the characters. Also, they're trying not to make death quite so trivial in the animated show. And that was the epitome of a trivial death, which is the only reason why it's funny. You're not the only reactor to point out the Vax chest situation. PS: We all know the next episode is going to be especially hard for you. Trust the story. Keep going. We're all here for you.
"Its a bit awkward they're having this conversation naked in a tub..." *smirks* oh it gets better .... PS if you listen really carefully, right before Vax walks up to the tub, you can hear Vex go under the water lol
Kyra, I greatly admire the wholehearted commitment to your hatred of Ripley. While not the most powerful of villains on this show, she certainly is one of the most dangerous. And Kelly Hu's performance in the role is absolutely stellar! This season is also a fairly big departure from the original campaign stream. All of Pike's story is new because Ashley Johnson was not there for large parts of the campaign and they've combined and modified a lot more so we Critters are almost as surprised as newcomers at some developments. So good! Your reaction to the tub scene was...appropriate. Great reaction as usual!
Kyra: "Honestly, I could have had 10 minutes of this conversation." Me: "No, believe me, you couldn't have. Guybrush Threepwood is in another franchise." 😏
Girl two uploads in two days, you are absolutely spoiling us!!!! The destruction of Whitestone is so absolutely gutting. You're very right that it's like a character of its own at this point-- it's served as a symbol of what Vox Machina could accomplish together, and also become a refuge for them. It more or less is a home away from home while they fight the Conclave, and so this violation cuts deep. And of course it is even more gutting that Percy was finally imagining a future for himself there, imagining building something instead of chasing destruction as he says. And now Ripley has dragged him right back to the day he lost his home and he's on the path to darkness again. I'm very worried about you Percival. But of course this time he's got Vox Machina there to back him up from the beginning, instead of having to face this blow alone. Hopefully, that will be enough. At least before this we got a reprieve in CHATEAU SHORTHALT!!! I genuinely have not stopped having that song (and another one from this season) in my head since they dropped. That key was one that Scanlan found in Umbrasyl (the acid dragon)'s horde of treasure, so he's really only had it for a very short time. There haven't been many opportunities to use it. But it's so delightful to see the amount of thought that he put into creating this space for his friends. A workshop! A fighting pit! A greenhouse! And of course he's thinking of if he'll ever get a chance to show it to Kaylie. Scanlan really is a big softie under all that bluster and innuendo. Also, I love the little purple ghosties as the backup band. The Chateau/Magical Mansion/whatever you like to call it was a favorite refuge for Vox Machina during the campaigns, with a lot of scenes taking place there. (The "it only makes chicken, it's a whole thing" gag is a reference to this.) I do need you to know that the Chateau played host to a cannonball contest-- Grog judged, and Percy was the one to win because his submission was the only one to draw blood. It's absolutely worth a watch ruclips.net/video/IAv1mpQQOe4/видео.html The bathtub/hot tub scene is an iconic Laura Bailey special. I don't think Liam O'Brien has recovered since then, but also he was the one who wrote this episode. Karma works in strange ways? The conversation between Vax and Percy was so needed though, and an excellent closure to the tension that has dogged them since Season 1. And I really like Percy turning things back around on Vax-- he's allowed to go after his own happiness. I like that Vax follows this conversation up by going to Keyleth and getting them back to a little bit of an equilibrium. With his titties on full display, the twins are a menace. Also, Percy and Vex genuinely can't keep their hands off each other. It's delightful. That conversation about planning a future in Whitestone is just -chef's kiss-. Neither one of them has imagined much of a future outside the present moment. Vex is only just slowly learning that she and Vax can live different lives, and of course Percy's everything was just so clouded by revenge. But there just may be a possibility of a future for both of them, together. Once they deal with this Ripley bullshit of course.
When discussing animating the bathtub scene, they talked about how much care they had to take to make the hot tup just the right size, too large and it wouldn't hit as hard, too small and it would be even weirder.
"Whitestone is like a character at this point" Absolutely, 100% In the campaign as well, it was somewhere they returned to again and again (the "bathtub scene" from earlier actually happened in Whitestone Castle rather than Scanlan's mansion in the campaign, but with timeline shuffles the mansion made more sense, and the scene didn't change.) Even as a viewer watching C1, it started to feel like a familiar place, a welcome name that brought a smile when they would finish this quest or that and step back through the Sun Tree. Obviously hours have been condensed into a few short episodes each season, but they've still done a really good job of making Whitestone feel like a beating heart. Seeing the tree burn, the castle fall, it feels like watching one of the characters get hurt. Yeeeah, that last line is not as reassuring as Percy thinks it was. Seeing him stand at the foot of those stairs looking at the ruin of his family home, that he fought so hard to save, it gets me right in the feels. I keep thinking back to him saying "We live as long as Whitestone lives" to Cass.
You know, the only thing that really makes me sad was that we never got to see Whitestone's king-sized bathtubs. I imagine them as being subterranean, gothic, and lit by a dozens of candles.
@@easterslice Right? Sunk into the floor like a little bathhouse. And because they're in the mountains, I imagine some kind of piping or under-floor heating system to heat the water? The DeRolo's don't strike me as an ice-bath sort of bunch :p

I really love your reactions and commentary on LoVM. Your insight into their heads is astonishing. I enjoy watching your thought process as you analyze the scenes and conversations. Great episode (though it was kinda short 😉😁)
The mansion is a reference to a dungeons and dragons spell Magnificent Mansion. Also Vex being under the hottub scene (Percy and Vax conversation) is another reference to the Critical Role live session that was Laura Bailey's idea the voice of Vex.

As someone who did, let me tell you that the attack on Whitestone came as a complete gut punch. Yes, I should have seen it from the scene between Thordak and Ripley. Also, Raishan had a hard deadline to give up Vox Machina to Thordak -- which is why she told them they had two days to get ready to fight Thordak. But I wasn't expecting Whitestone to be attacked before they returned. It was a gut punch to see the city, which had only just rebuilt from the Briarwood reign of terror, get leveled like that. At least it isn't an active volcano. I both love and hate the scene with Raishan in this episode. Watching it, knowing it was Ripley who had targeted the city, I wanted to yell at everyone for how wrong they are to blame Raishan. They did an incredible job with that story, because I was never sure what Raishan's game was, or when or if she was lying. But I remember ending the episode thinking it was major mistake to go after Ripley, instead of fighting Thordak first. But even then, I wasn't sure that I was right. Because maybe Ripley is worse than Thordak. Except for the baby dragons. Unless Keyleth is right and it's Raishan that's the worst threat. Argh! There is too much to deal with! Get out the Ox.

Out of character, a lot of Vex and Percy's relationship decisions are built on their determination to NOT be Vax and Keyleth. The attack on Whitestone never actually happened in the original campaign, btw. I believe they swapped it here in place of Fort Daxio, which was mentioned back in Season 1 but hasn't been shown in the series, and honestly Whitestone is far more meaningful for our heroes.
An interesting consequence of Whitestone being attacked is the echo of Vex (and Vax's) childhood home being attacked by dragon(s). Just as Vex is contemplating another home (after their keep in Emon got iceberg'd), she finds it aflame. At least this time she was able to fight the dragons instead of watching it burn as we saw in the S1 opening of the twins as kids. I think I managed to keep this spoiler free.
So, lots of people commenting on the bathtub. Yes you should go watch the table to screen for it. I want to mention the Keylith goldfish. That was a big deal, but at a future moment in the story, so be weary of spoilers. I doubt that will be in the show, due to the changes they've already made, but... it's a THING!
Man, *every* reactor has forgotten about the magic key in Umbrassyl's horde. I haven't seen a single person who is like "Oh, yeah, that's the key he got from killing Umbrassyl." It was a small beat, I kinda get missing it, but I'm surprised *nobody* remembered it.
Yeah, it's from Umbrasyl's lair, and also a callback to the Emon invasion where everyone was looting Gilmore's and everyone was grabbing stuff nearly out of Scanlan's hands and he ended up with a broom (that he gave to Vex). It was a nice bit to reflect on Vex's greed, even if just a bit.
Kinda came here solely for the bathtub scene, I just had to see your reaction. @@RitikYadav0708is it? What gets spoiled here? It's so vague, it literally just has two phrases that could be applied to a number of people and situations. It doesn't actually say anything about those moments. Who's saying I love you to whom? Percy to Vex? Keyleth to Vax? Grog to Scanlan? And who's him that needs fixed and why? There's not enough context for these to spoil anything. Hey, there's a great moment when someone says "I know" in Empire Strikes Back. Is that a spoiler?
@@brewdaly1873 It doesn't take a genius dude. The empire strikes back is a movie that is very old, but even then, you shouldn't spoil moments for people who are actively watching it for the first time.
@@Immerayon Empire being old has nothing to do with anything, that was just an example, and I did not spoil anything. My point is, saying there's a non-specific emotional moment where a non-specific character says two or three words is not a spoiler. There's no context in this comment. "Someone says I love you" wow, what a shocker, I never would've seen that coming in a show that has been actively building up romantic interest between 3 different couples. I guess "Fix him" tells you the gender of the character being spoken about, but it could still literally be any male character. Is it Grog, Vax, Percy, Scanlan, Keyleth's dad, Kash, someone we haven't met yet? You can't tell anything just from those phrases. You don't know what a spoiler is.

(I'll try to return and watch all of your videos at some point, just haven't had that time for a moment)
For the table to screen: ruclips.net/video/VtW4JHV8dN8/видео.htmlsi=5_M2pcJY3d1yLzbz
5:40 "Why is he acting Cagey?" Oh, you have NO idea! just you wait!
8:15 Knowing What is coming, it is even more awkward!
9:00 "Why are you so awkward?" that's why!
Trust me, go watch all of her reactions. Honestly the best reaction I've ever seen to this series, Kyra has a unique background in that she deeply cared about the characters before the series even begun. Some of the best analysis and pure emotional reactions I've ever seen.
@Brainth_1780 I am aware, hence why I want to Return.
I know you have moved away from doing two parters but I highly suggest your next reaction be for two episodes. Trust me on this one
Also yes absolutely watch the table to screen clips, they’re phenomenal
Someone said if you download the episode, then there aren't ads
Interesting point I do believe that Percy will take care of Anna Ripley next episode❤
Are you sure you were just tired? Cuz right at the end there, it looked like you were high on yak. (just kidding, just kidding)
that's basically "we are not together, but what if we got married?"
Something other than an "I love you" is also going to drop next episode.
She ain't ready for the 'I love you' moment and aftermath.. just like I wasn't ready for the "fix him' moment..
This is a blatant spoiler dude.
@@RitikYadav0708 I've been noticing people spoiling shit for a while now down here. I don't often reply in the hopes that she'll just assume it's a fake spoiler. I truly do hope Kyra has someone who's seen the show to delete comments like these.
