I don't know if you know but the pawns are suppose to actually learn how to do things as they do it. At first he was backing off and then by the mid game he was more aggressive. Then with the damage thing for the cyclopes, he figured out the weak point. It's actually cool to see that because I never really saw it to this degree but the developers did say that the pawns will learn, change and adjust their ai.
Yeh, they learn from you too. If you show them those weak spots, or they see another pawn do it, they'll remember and hit those spots more often. Probably the coolest AI system before modern day AI... They can literally play games on their own xD
You can even check their knowledge of enemies, and they'll get knowledge from helping other players too. That's one of the things you can check when they return from helping another play, in addition to RC and items
Meanwhile my pawn has intentionally jumped off a cliff about 20 times in BBI. Everything about this place is so cursed
Most players usually use this by making them learn to Spam skills.
Give them Endurance + Proficiency, and put them up for fights for a while.
Inclinetion is something quite deep to understand in Dogma universe, to my conception ;o
I needed ro check Wiki Fandom several times to learn what each one does and that even with the perfecr match (Like Challenger/Utilitarian to Sorcerers), they can always improve their efficiency by repeating the same mob over and over, by looking how you fight with the same Vocation
I'm just a bit lazy to change to same vocations 'cause i preffer ballance in my party, like 2 physicals + 2 magicals >D
if you give the ring to a pawn, you can buy it at the black cat or whatever the forgery place is called
One advice for this kinda playthrough is even if you are playing a mage you should be pretty much be at the melee range because pawns have a tendency to follow you VERY closely... if you go to like mid range they just fuck around at your hems instead of engaiging, I mean at least if you'd have a melee pawn all the way to the end that is.
I did that yesterday, brought 10 hats without realizing it. from 1m gold dropped to under 50k.
Fun fact: the mage augment intervention gives you and any pawn with it complete immunity to the cockatrices petrification breath, you still take damage, but any status it would cause is nullified
That encounter was beyond frustrating. I would need a perk that makes the pawn less dumb lol
Does it grant immunity to all petrification sources?
@@regishwadumonly if the petrification comes as a side effect of an attack (as in, it’s attached to it)

@@regishwadumim not sure which augment is which but theres 2 augments one makes you immune to side effects of spells, the other makes you immune to side effects of physical. (like gargoyles stinger) but if you equip both you can be immune to everything lol
Just so u know after u hand in the fake ring u can sneak back in at night a open the chest ur self and it will respawn ever few days
Changing Drew's inclinations might've gotten rid of his tendency to climb monsters.
Scather usually makes Pawns climb.
For ranged Pawns like Drew, Challenger is the best inclination since it makes them keep their distance and use ranged weapons.
Utilitarian is usually a great inclination for pawns, but that also makes them more likely to set up combos rather than attack directly, so avoiding that would be helpful for a challenge run like this.

I mean in white knight chronicle for ps3 your created character was just the main characters friend. The CC doesn’t even have a voice actor if I remember but you can make some choices to respond to the main character. I haven’t played it in 14 years 🤷♂️
I’m the opposite of you guys. I was pissed the CC wasn’t the one who transformed. It felt really weird. But it seems like it’s exactly what you want. Sometimes you’re forced to use the main character though. It’s a party system game an you can play most of it as your CC. But transform knight battles you have to use the MC.

Protip: always purchase Warrior. The first rank (no kills required) offers the Fortitude augment, which reduces incoming damage by a flat 50. Great for any class that'll spend time in the fray

I understand this is a support video, but your pawn literally does become and mantle you.
The ending where you're not a dragon, you and your pawn fall in the water, then your pawn is in the MC body.
I love playing support characters or battlefield commanders, so I'm happy to see that this is possible in Dragon's Dogma.
Just be warned that it is beyond stressful...

Pawns are abysmally slow at killing anything. :/

Currently doing this but maxed both of our levels first and built her proper inclinations so she doesn’t dumb climb 😅
Probably should have spent more time with inclinations lol hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Fun fact: The more your pawn faces a certain enemy type like cyclops, they'll get better at fighting said enemy, if you check status and bestiary there'll be stars, 1 star for not knowing or barely know how to defeat enemy, 2 stars for learning some weaknesses, and 3 stars for knowing all weaknesses and everything else about said enemies. Hope this helps in later challenges!

Him climbing so much is due to his personality. Should have just got some potions with the pawn merchant in the encampment for some rift cristals, and done
My Pawn is a Mage and she blasts everything with one spell, always gets hired by randoms paying more than 100k per rental xd
3:45 bloody hell thank you for just doing damage yourself until you got the pawn. So many challenge YTers insist on starting the challenge even during prologues and letting NPCs or environmental damage end them.
It might seem a silly thing, but dude, no one watching for actual entertainment cares about the 1% of the game prior to getting the Challenge McGuffin so long as you head straight to it. Like and sub just for that.
Also, I love this run, where the Arisen winds up playing support mage. It’s a wonderful way to boost sta/int during the “mid levels” around NG+10.
seeing this now through being recommended, but im fairly sure Pawns can cut a Hydra head in that first encounter.
because on my very first playthrough on PS3, i was mid fight, got ate, didnt know if i was supposed to be able to do
anything or if dying slowly was intended. suddenly the cutscene triggers of a Hydra head coming off.
so unless you can actually cut off a head from the inside while struggling, that was my Pawn's doing.
I tried this once but my Pawn couldn't defeat my old character
If you dragon forget a rusty bow and give it to him it's like a cheat code it breaks the game
You could have gotten the Mystic Knight skills that enhance pawns when tou "1up" them
Mage would probably be much funner if the game is multiplayer.
Duplicate wyrmking ring doesn't stop u from getting the gear from the chest. U just need to sneak in at night and get it before doing that quest. Duke will just fail to open it with fake.
Dude, Dragon's Dogma is my favorite game of all time. I found this channel through the BG3 salami challenge (awesome video btw), and I'm so stoked to see DD content too!

Regarding the treasure chest the ring opens in the treasury.
You can sneak in there later and use the ring to open it yourself, and it doesn't consume the ring either.
This might work better with a cheat mod that gives your pawn all bestiary knowledge from level 1

Well with the new trickster class you can really make the pawn the main character!
i imagine that was the idea behind that class... the pawns were made smarter and there is a trickster class to support your pawns.

On the subject of pawns using curatives... grab a bunch of bottles and fill them up with healing water in a spring. It heals in an AoE and they spam it like crazy for free!
EDIT: Also I'm pretty sure you can give him a Maker's Finger

@@dodojesus4529Forgot to mention this, but you actually don't need to do that. Just give the pawn empty bottles and afk in the fountain.
You NEED two wyvern King Rings one for you l, one for your pawn. Then with a party of 4 sorcerors start a ritual circle spell. You can get off 3-4 castings of Grand Bolide while repeatedly hopping back into the the ritual circle of the slower rented Pawns.
The AI in this game is actually quite incredible and diverse. Just like in real life, there are smart people and dumb people. And like many other comments have mentioned, your main pawn learns and grows - partially through their experience, and mostly through watching you. For example, if you use a lot of throwblasts in the early game while you are fighting with your main pawn, and then give them throwblasts, they will use them in almost exactly the same way you used them, against the same enemies you used them on. It is honestly really amazing especially for a decade old game, and this is something I have not seen in any other game. The relationship between the player and the main pawn is almost like a Parent-child or Older sibling - younger sibling relationship. (Also, you probably should have used Sorcerer yourself after maxing Mage since most of the spells carry over and you get access to Torpor spell which is OP, and you have access to an AOE defense buff spell)
I'm a little surprised this video didn't go into the postgame - Daimon and Bitterblack Isle is one thing but if you'd covered the Seneschal you had an easy layup to go "and yes your pawn *can* beat the final boss" as your tiny white woman arisen spear-tackled Savan and held him in a Full Nelson waiting for the Drew P Honkk Special Beam Cannon.
i wonder what would happen if you gave the pawn the makers finger before fighting grigori(the final dragon). like would he ever equip it and would it work? it would have definitely saved you some time.
Fun fact, you can get into that chest later by simply sneaking into the Castle at night and watching patrols, then zooming to the chest. Its a slightly tedius process but easy. You just need to know how to reach the chest itself and then it just relies on you paying attention to a specific patrol for a sec
One of us isn’t a human. Thats the only explanation. I love dragons dogma. It’s one of my favorite games of all time. THIS however. This would not be fun. Not even a little. Maybe if I could hire 2 pawns and let the 3 do the work, it not this. Lol

Assume your gonna do this again when dd2 comes out my suggestion would be to get to trickster asap as its the defacto support vocation. And if the trailers correct u can swap vocations on the fly so u wouldnt need to dump mage
Inclinations make a world of difference. Get that Mitigater and, I wanna say, Utilitarian and youre set all game

Grapnel does do damage, its not a huge amount of damage, but its considered a dark attack meaning the critical hit chance is pretty high, so it can still do some damage, if you take a high level staff, even without your character having much magic stat, it can still outeight kill some lower level trash mobs like goblins
