My Mum took me and a couple of mates to see the Golden Hind for my birthday when I was a kid, and to be honest, I thought it was cr*p. Now I'm an adult I'd really love to see her again, I'm that guy who holds up the tour group because I stop to read every word on every placard, lol 🙂

@@mayorgeneralramirez1997 small is better. When Spanish used huge galleon's in the battle of the armada, it played a downfall due to the slow movement, and after being drifted north from bad weather many Spanish ships sunk due to more shallow waters where the galleon's were too big
@@joshATK A warship needs to be big if it's planned to use it in a full-fledged sea battle. A war galleon could have two decks of guns adding up to 50/60 cannons. It is true that the shallow waters and size of the keels made them fall, but my point still stands that that small galleon of 8 cannons is a lightweight compared to any other spice freighter. It's best asset is speed, not it's ordinance. Sir Francis Drake used it in discovery missions, scouting for the English Armada and for piracy, quite fitting for the purpose. As a freighter? A bit too small to be as profitable as any average Dutch ship. As a warship combating in high seas? You wouldn't see it facing an enemy flagship.
Then in 1591 "The Great Pirate" was wounded while attacking San Juan, Puerto Rico and died 2 weeks later at sea. English lied again and said he died from a "normal tropical disease".. Yes, Cannon Fire from Tropical San Juan, Puerto Rico, LOL.. Admiral Hawkins died on that battle too and was buried at sea in front of San Juan.. That one they didnt deny at least.
This is a terrible video no narration, lousy camera work, horrible sound just the wind and background noise. Hell some kids with cell phones and an encyclopedia page to read out of would have better.
I'm pretty sure the developers of Sea of Thieves used this ship to model their galleon
You're right

I got to tour the Hind in port Canaveral, fla. with my good friend Vince Sapporo. It was awesome!
I was on this in Portland oregon in 1987
Brixham looks a quiet place this time of year
Video Outtakes thank god
I’ve been there!
The funny thing is, I’m one of the descendants of sir Francis, I would love to see his ship someday
He didn’t have children…
The Golden Hind built by Bülent Sayar was more realistic. It was the best replica.
Was a light Spanish style galleon that the pirate stole from Brazil and named it.. Oh .. That was The Maygold", which they later on lost in a storm..
looks like a lego model.
very....small. to a well-known pirate's frontier kind of ship fleet.
nope

I actually prefer the look of this one but its a bit small
Is it seaworthy?
No, based on a trawler but now is permently anchored at Brixham
@@WarshipTV Thanks for the info!
Is this a full scale replica?
Yes, full scale built on an old trawler
@@WarshipTV Nice! Thank you!
That's rather small for a galleon, isn't it?
Compared to what?
Compared to which era in history?
@@paulallen8109 Compared to other Dutch or Spanish merchant galleons of the 16th and 17th centuries. This one strikes me as small.

It’s not really a galleon per say if you compare it to ships rates in Nelson’s day it’s like a 3-4th rate
Wait is that the real one
Sadly a replica built on a trawler chassis
Noooooo! The real Golden Hind was scuttled many many years ago. We have quite a few good replicas around. Sadly this isn't one of them.
The Golden BeHind??
