  • Thank you to EVERYONE for following my journey through other ports of social media while I was gone... I just wanted to keep this video short and sweet to let you guys know that my beginning point as a Registered Nurse was not easy at all. I was placed in some of the most challenging and scariest moments of my life as a nurse and I'm here to share that with you in hopes of encouraging YOU that it will not be easy, but you must NEVER GIVE UP. I love you all, thank you again for watching and for all your love and support. xoxo - Rona

You are awesome! I followed ur nclex videos. I am an old nurse. Was a CCRN, took time off with kids for 10 years. Returned via a Return to Nursing program and had to write the NCLEX! !!! ahhhh!!!!!! I am Canadian and had heard about the NCLEX way back in the 90's when I graduated, from fellow nurses wanting to work in the USA. Omg I was in full panic mode and delayed my test a week. Then I found ur videos. A huuuuuge confidence booster! I wrote the exam. Was so bummed out. Went home and started studying for a rewrite. Nothing I studied was on my questions. I wanted to scream. I knew my gases and electrolytes and Parkinsons and myasthenia gravis and...I knew nothing at the exam....then I got an email....I passed! When that computer turned off at 75 questions I swear I knew I failed. But I passed! In 75 questions! And u were such a motivation! ! so thank you!!!. From an ooold nurse. So for anyone who is told experience doesn't help. It does. And hang in there. Chin up. March on. It takes about 5 years to get a good solid foundation of skills and confidence. You Go Girl!!!

Could you make a video about different nursing shifts? It's possible to choose how many hours you work and how many days you get free? I have heard some have 8 hrs shift, others 12 hours.
I would appreciate information about schedules and I am glad you are back! ❤️ all the best

    Hey Rona ;)
I'm so happy to see that you're doing well and that you're loving your job and night shift crew! I honestly appreciate you taking some time for yourself and sitting on the job before posting videos because for sure I would be anxious and questioning my decision to be in nursing school if I heard you were (confirmation bias!). And thank you thank you for planning to be a great preceptor that takes a new grad/nursing student under your wing! We will surely appreciate it, your desire to be better already means you are in my book.
You're amazing, please keep us updated!! 💖💖💖💖
Question: what is your schedule like weekly?

We've really missed you (and your kitchen background :) ) Well, first I want to say thank you for all the videos and time you take to make them, they're so inspiring and always help us at any moment. I also love you personality and that joy you put on them even when this journey may be difficult but also beautiful and your videos make us learn a lot. Thank you very much for all your work and advices and just a pair of questions, hope you can answer them:
    - Any advice in how to manage scary or stressing situations?
    - Which kind of patients are the most difficult to treat? Like kids, grown-ups, elders.
Thanks a lot and I hope you continue improving in this wonderful journey and also, whenever you have enough time, hope you continue with your videos :)

Hey Rona! I followed you through nursing school the same time I was trying to swim through my program. I'm on a skilled nursing unit. Welcome to the dark side aka night shift!! I began on nights!! I felt a lot like you and some of my family didn't understand my nerves and depression. Its quite an adjustment. Initially I felt I had so much on my shoulders I questioned if I even liked nursing. I realize that was just part of discovering what kind of nurse I am. Now I know there's no question that I love nursing. I look forward to more learning and finding the position that will fit me best!!! Thank you for being so real about the stress and letting us know it's ok to feel this way as long as we address it. Love you girl! You were meant to be the best nurse!! You helped me!

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to pass through this such a tough period. I SO understand you. A few years ago I was in the same situation:I was at the university, shortly after my graduation from high school. I was taking the career of a Dental Hygienist. I studied hard and a lot of time and still though I couldn't pass 2 very important exams which came prior to clinics. I was broken, disappointed, tired and depressed .After pretty long time that I was in this condition regretfully I had to quit because I couldn't anymore. It was really hard to get to take the decision of leaving but after a while I saw that it's not so bad. Now I'm looking to something new. I'm going to try and be accepted once more to university,to another career. Hopefully this time everything will end differently and all will be fine. I'm glad to hear that you haven't given up. You're such a great inspiration to so many people. Keep going!

I'm currently in OB and I sometimes underestimate my knowledge. I get really good grades but, I feel that I won't be smart enough or have the ability to be a great nurse on the floor if that makes sense. Did you have that feeling lol ? ( Just finished watching you video and saw you went thru my worst fear , being thrown out in the field like a lost puppy as a new grad)I look at nurses and am like how do you just know what to do (I guess experience)I mean school helps but during clinicals nurses don't really let you do much 🙁. How do you feel school prepares you as a nurse? P.S snoopy is so cute and such a team player in you IG stories 😊

Hey Rona! So happy to see you back! I've watched your videos while I was getting my BSN, and you have been a huge help in my own success, so thank you! I have been a nurse almost 2 years now, and I can feel your struggle! I feel like when I've watched this video you were looking into my situations as well... haha. Totally relatable. Sometimes we all need some time to mature and figure out our lives. It would be unfortunate to see you all depressed in your videos... as you've said! You came back at the right time. You seem like you're figuring it all out in this nursing world. I am still trying to figure out some things on my own, I started out in ER for 6 months, left there, and am also in Med-Surg/Tele. From here, not sure what's next but I do also have a great team at my side right now. Best wishes and so glad to see you again!

You are such an inspiration!! I love how you are down to earth and funny. I am fairly new to your channel and am looking forward to watching your other videos. I am a new grad getting ready to to take the NCLEX RN. We were told as a class not to submit any applications for jobs untill we pass the NCLEX. I know of other schools who gave different advice telling students to start applying early with some getting job offers contigent on passing the NCLEX. I have not applied for any jobs as of yet but I have been looking in my area to see what type of openings there are. It seems that jobs for new nurses are very few and far between. Almost every job opening I have come across are asking for at least one year of experience. This has me worried that I may have difficulty finding a job as a new RN. My question to you is how hard was it for you to land your first job as a new grad? Did you encounter any difficulties? If so what advice can you give.

Glad to have you back! I got offered a med surg night shift position; not to sure if I should accept. How do you manage night shift? Do you sleep different on your days off or continue to sleep during the day?

Hi Rona! I completely understand the emotions and why you left youtube. I am a new grad and just finishing up precepting in my new grad program on med surg-tele on days. I cried everyday after work and I was so depressed on my days off and was so unhappy. I thought how this was not what I signed up for and I felt overwhelmed, stressed, unhappy and depressed and Ive only been working for 6 months! But i recently sat down with my manager and asked him to switch me to the night shift and I am finally starting to gain happiness again and not be depressed and no more panic attacks during the day. I am able to learn at such a better pace and my mental health is becoming healthy again. Im still adjusting to being up all night and tired on my days off, but Id much rather be up all night than to be a new grad back on the day shift on a med/surg floor with 5 patients. I am hanging in there and I wish more people would have prepared me for what to expect as a new grad on a med surg tele floor during the day shift and how I was not the only one crying and feeling depressed thinking is this what nursing is? Thank you for sharing, it is good to know I am not the only one with a similar experience. Be blessed :)

What are the top 5 tips you can give new grad nurses who are starting their first job as an RN? I got a job on an Integrated Stroke and Rehab unit, which I will be starting soon. I'm really nervous. Your tips can definitely help! Thanks Rona!! So good to see you back in the game 😉❤️

So I was supposed to graduate in May 2017, however I failed nur 206 last fall and had to repeat in the spring... passed and about to pass nur 216 final tomorrow and start my last (short) semester in the fall get pinned nov 5th. I'm a little scared due to some issues with the school I won't be able to test for nclex until mid January or feb. However I will be starting a position at my job (currently I'm a cna/ unit secretary) on a oncology med surg overflow I'll be star what is called a nurse student extern so I will be getting on the job training before I graduate and start my RN training. But like I said I'm scared because I have a lot of time between end of school and nclex... advice

Hey girl!! I was just wondering how well does the Pearson View trick work? I got the bad pop up and I have been stressing because everyone said it means I failed the Nclex. I took the test on Thursday afternoon and this weekend is holiday weekend!! So I'm not sure one way or another!! How long did it take you to get a response the first time you took the Nclex? Thanks

Hello Rona. I am a Canadian ESL teacher, teaching English to nursing students in the Sultanate of Oman. Is it possible that I could make a request for a topic for one of your videos? Please please. Could you possibly make a video about your experiences working as a nurse in the first few months (or year). I would like to show students all the different types of problems they might experience when they start working. I don't mean specific medical issues, but simple stuff like problems with patients, difficulties with experienced nurses, communication problems, working shifts, trouble juggling family, friends and work, etc. etc. I am NOT a nurse so I have no idea what problems you encounter. I appreciate the videos you are making, I know they are helping a lot of nursing students out there. If you can help me, thanks in advance. Thanks for being a nurse...you're our heros. :) Kelly
