    Hi Tom! Buzz Cardone here. I was extensively into your instructions and school. They were nothing but incredible!! Then i ran into some health problems with my heart and my lungs and had to take a couple years off. But I'm coming back, hopefully. I'm 84 now, and can't expect too much, but i still LOVE your instructions. They're not only totally helpful, they're fun to watch and do. I'm just starting back now and I'm hopeful that i can get out next summer with my son's and grandsons and won't be embarrassing to have along. I can thank you for improving my game very much, and giving me the confidence to go out there and do it!!!
    God bless you Tom, and please keep it coming.

    Tom, I can’t thank you enough. I’m 53, I just started playing about a year ago and this whole time I’ve watched several different RUclips videos by just as many instructors and getting absolutely nowhere. No improvement whatsoever.
    A few days ago I finally decided to listen to one instructor and that was you because I thought you were pretty funny and you talked about Ben Hogan quite a bit. I got tired of trying to look like a “ballerina“. Laughed my butt off when I heard that one. No lie, after two days of practicing using foam balls in the yard and utilizing your techniques, I played nine today and smashed every ball as crispy as KFC. My score, 60 for nine holes sucked but that was all due to terrible putting and some bad chip shots. The way I was hitting every ball I couldn’t care less about the score. Every Single technique was so helpful. I also think you channel Jack Nicklaus a bit. Anyway, I don’t mean to go on. Just know that you have made a a lifetime golfer out of me. Well, about a quarter lifetime. Thanks again!

      I truly appreciate the kind words and online school testimonial, @Tmoo moore, and I'm very glad to learn of your results to date!!
      You'll get the driver straightened out (and long) - it just takes a bit of time to adjust to the length of the club and the need to keep the hips traveling laterally a greater distance in the downswing due to the wider stance. If you search the word "Driver" in the school's Members' Forum you'll see that you're definitely not alone in this regard, and you may also find some helpful information in some of those threads as well. Beyond that, perhaps tomorrow's driver episode may spark something for you.

    Hey young man, an older guy from the UK here, I stumbled across your videos by chance a few weeks ago....."dang!" as you would say.....I am now literally hitting the elusive draws with my driver after decades of slicing the damn thing, no kidding...decades of head-scratching and rubbish drives...I feel like I have tamed a pet python! Played yesterday I had the pleasure of standing back, and admiring my own high draws landing in the fairway....shot after shot. It's a game-changer, I am going to have to re-think my tactics as it's opening up a wider range of iron shots too. Thank you I'll be checking out your membership for sure....!

    Great video, I was able to the range yesterday to practice on my swing especially the secret in the elbow, Ben Hagan swing. It really helped out a lot, still had a some balls going left and right, and can tell when I go over the top. Even my driver was going higher, longer, and just a little bit straighter. Keep in the fairway. I just have to keep practicing, I will also driver off the deck. I can swing my 3wd ok just have to practice more. Thanks

    Hi Tom, love your video’s but have a big question for you: my pro instructors says stack&tilt is good for people with a stronger left leg, but if your right leg is stronger it’s better not to use that technique, but rather to push off from your right leg, ie. especially with driver to get more distance. What is your opinion?

      I like the s&t concept but it puts a lot of torque on my left leg. At 71 years old it’s an awkward feeling and I probably flinch or adjust during the swing. Is there any suggestions that I can do such as a hybrid of a s&t and a regular swing?

    Awesome Tommy, I do love watching your arm action since it always regrooves a sometimes wondering swing path. Also, you cannot lose the chops, there awesome, it just should not be contemplated. I mean, tell the girl your enterprise is dependent on the chops because it keeps your students from chopping; this will satisfy any capitalist woman. The driver off the deck helps so much with the swing path and the tempo of the swing; you have to be focused and smooth, and staying down and through the shot. Alright, keep the chops, don't make me have to resort to some kinda stupid petition...they are really starting to look awesome...which is nice....hee hee.....thanks tommy...

      Hi Ronald,
      Even if you are unable to load weight onto your lead side, you would still do well to have a stacked and centered swing in which pressure may move into your trail side, but not to the point that you feel like you are shifting or swaying. You should still be able to tilt, turn, and extend while doing this.
      Here is a video I did on Tiger's swing in more recent times: ruclips.net/video/-QH6dkf0xNQ/видео.html While he still moved weight onto his trail side, he was stacked and never lost his center. (I did a more detailed analysis of his swing in a separate video for my online school members.)
      By the way, swing I teach is a very body-friendly method, and there is some tolerance for individual nuances. For me this is supported by my personal experience as a player and furthered by the fact that the majority of my students are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
      Should you wish to give this swing a fair shot by learning it properly, please consider enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only platform that really simplifies the process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. Great stuff but what if the path is good but I still open the face? Any thoughts on the hands position to ensure a square face? Thanks Tom

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад

      Once you have the downswing working properly and approaching from the inside, ball flight rules - aka shot shaping - are a function of clubface as it relates to path and target line. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line, and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. I recently added a robust course on the shot shaping grid to the online school
      There is no active manipulation of the face in this swing. Any contrived effort to "square the face" at impact will only breed inconsistency. Check out these channel videos for more in this regard:
      - ruclips.net/video/Fe2kQ44azJ4/видео.html
      - ruclips.net/video/SunCR5uJ_ao/видео.html
      At address the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh. Depending on the type of shot we are trying to hit, ball position will then dictate whether - and by how much - the clubface is open or closed to the target line and intended path.
      You may be interested in looking into the SagutoGolf online school. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only learning system for the full swing along with the finer points - including that recently added course on the S&T Shot Shaping Grid which is designed to: 1) help members read and interpret their ball flight, 2) understand how to make adjustments/corrections, and 3) learn how to carve shots in both directions. Here's a link if you'd like additional info: saguto.golf/p/golf-swing-simplified-tom-saguto-pga.

    Hey Tom, I’m curious if you might know why I tend to hit the ball in the heel with driving. Unless I set up the ball at the toe instead of in the center of the club face. Any idea why that is? I had a trackman session that I found the center of the club face, but only when I setup at the toe. Face is usually open too, more than my in to out spin. I’d say my miss is push right, unless I severely close the club face which does happen

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад

      Heel strikes can potentially result from a path that is too much in-to-out, but there are other possibilities as well so it's really not possible for me to diagnose without seeing your swing.
      There are entire sections of my online school dedicated to resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf
      Also, I do offer V1 Swing Video Analysis lessons as they are instrumental to the progress of my school's members, and these can be done for anyone from anywhere across the globe, school member or not. This enables me to put my eyes on your swing and offer some very specific observations and corrective action plans if applicable. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis on this page of my website site: saguto.golf/p/lessons

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад +1

      It's an interesting scenario, but you're definitely not alone! Just ask PGA Champion Phil...
      Short of saying that you need to train your trail hand to hit - which I realize may be difficult - I would recommend you work on maintaining your connections and allowing the lower body to bring you into impact. This Hogan video may help to give you a visual in this regard: ruclips.net/video/iejRWhuB7y8/видео.html. Also, even though this impact video lesson focuses on maintaining the angle between your trail arm and the club shaft, it may help you feel impact in a different way that prevents your dominant lead hand from getting out of control: ruclips.net/video/Fe2kQ44azJ4/видео.html
      One of the keys in your situation is to not allow that strong arm - which probably seems to have a mind of its own in anxiously wanting to take over when you're trying to bust one - to jump ahead of the lower body and throw the entire downswing out of sequence, because if it does you're likely taking regular trips to Pull-Slice City. If you can train it instead to trail the lower body to the point where the shaft is parallel to the ground on the way down, then you should be in position to hit hard with the dominant hand as if it were a tennis backhand shot or throwing a frisbee.
      This is a members’ forum post by a student in my online school specific to this very issue: “I found a great tip in the Power Distance section. If you are a natural lefty that plays golf right-handed (or vice versa) this is a breakthrough! Retract your lead shoulder during the downswing as hard as you retract your trail shoulder in the backswing. You will be amazed the speed you generate! It is also a very natural motion. Tom Saguto really knows this swing. Young man is a genius.” It’s all there waiting for you for just $10 US/month or $99 US/year. Here's a link if you'd like more info: saguto.golf/p/golf-swing-simplified-tom-saguto-pga.
      I hope this helps!

DONT MOVE YOUR LEFT FOOT!!!!! just the right ( other video ). I am looking at him saying this shit don't feel right then he is like move your hands forward, I am like this isn't going to fking work. He goes swing. Then BAMMMMMMM! I did not even feel the ball come off the club head. He did that on everyone of my shot's , it just don't feel right but it is. It's very very hard to get used to.

      Hi Jeremiah,
      This Driver Off the Deck Drill should help you if you keep working on it. It provides instant feedback for sure!
      There has been quite a bit of dialogue in the Members' Forum of my online school on the topic of how to transport "Ranger Rick" to the golf course. We all experience that! All I can tell you is that it is part of the process, and if your practice mode is delivering consistently solid results then it's just a function of time in terms of when/how that will translate itself to the course. As confidence in your swing grows you should find more and more that you are playing "golf" instead of "golf swing" on the course, at which point your mechanical thoughts will be reduced to one or two at the most, and you will be nearly entirely focused on your target and not your swing. An excellent book that may help you with this is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante.
      Beyond that, I'd love to see you in the online school and participating regularly in the highly supportive SagutoGolf Community that is growing into something quite special in our Forum!
      Cheers!
      Tom

    That looks like a good drill for driver but really good drill for my fairway woods. I was hoping that Tom would bring the samurai sword into play. Maybe next video...

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад

      It is absolutely applicable to the fairway woods as well, Ken!
      Sorry for your samurai withdrawals. I though hitting a driver off the deck was a risky enough endeavor without the Katana being put into play....😂

      @@SagutoGolf driver off deck and Katana thrust-parry are pretty risky, you’re right.

    Good thing you did not kill the badger running across at 3:32 with the driver off the deck.

    Every time I address the ball now i make sure my upper arms are glued to my chest. My swing thoughts are: hit this KFC Crispy and it'll take me to the land of milk and honey lol. Tonight I went out and shot even par for 9 holes. 7 pars, 1 birdie and unfortunately I bogied the final hole. I took 8 iron on the 9th hole and pured it so crispy it was overdone and flew the green. I chipped to 8 feet but missed the putt. The shot was so crispy it was overcooked. My 9 iron would have been the right club with this extra crispy contact. Thanks Tom, striking it better than ever thanks to you and your golf tips.

      Sounds like Tom Watson's approach, chip, and putt on 18 when he last had a shot at winning the Open Championship at like age 59 or so....
      That's some fantastic playing, @booji boy, and I appreciate your kind words regarding my instruction!
      Congratulations on your success, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!!

      @@SagutoGolf haha I also mentioned Tom Watson's shot to my Dad after the round. Believe me Tom this is NOT my normal golf. I'm normally a 90's shooter and 5 over is a normally good day for me and 7-9 over or more is the norm. I was puring crispy approach shots yesterday thanks to your teachings.
