  • The Sig Sauer P320, or a version of it anyway, won the XM17 trials to become our nations primary service pistol. The Sig P320 is loved by many shooters, it seems to be one of the most successful models Sig has released in recent years. So, how does it hold up to being fired 1000 times in 13 minutes? Stick around and find out!

    1000 rounds in 13 minutes, no cleaning, no failures, perfect ejection, and the slide locked open on empty every single time... Yep it’s a SIG.

    My P320 Compact has been absolutely perfect for over 650 rounds. With only 70 rounds through it, I took it to a steel challenge competition and placed third. Even the informal long shot competition afterwards nailed a 12 ounce water bottle at 60 yards at night. It is an absolute keeper!

  • @asianky1e30

    These tests really show a couple things. 1. How reliable the gun is under heat/gunk build up. 2. Reliability under excess heat. 3. Reliability under poor grip i.e. Limp wristing as your muscles slowly give out. These are great MAC!

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  7 лет назад +129

      It's true, my muscles aren't able to keep proper control of the pistol by the end of the testing. You can see I'm no longer able to mitigate recoil as effectively. I hadn't considered this aspect of the test until your comment.

    • @midniteoyl8913
      @midniteoyl8913 7 лет назад +12

I have been carrying Sigs for over 20 years now with zero problems from any of them in my gun safe. And this is to mention only a few, not all in my safe. Sig Sauer firearms Rock. The German-made ones are a step above the American made ones. No matter, a Sig is a Sig and you can't beat em.

    I have the exact same gun. When I first started shooting it, the slide would not always lock in the rear position after the last round was fired. I broke the gun down and thoroughly removed all existing lubrication and then re-lubricated it with Lucas CLP. Since then, it has never given me any problems.
    I bought the P320 after a co-worker talked me into it. I have barely touched my Glock 19 or Glock 23 since getting the Sig. Outstanding weapon.

    Thanks MAC for all that you do because of your tests as well as all the reviews I see for the Sig Sauer P320. I made my purchase decision to go out and buy this handgun. And I have made this gun my everyday carry, and I completely trust this gun to save my life if the need were to ever arise, and I firmly believe this gun is a Glock killer. No disrespect to Glock. They make very good guns and would still depend on a glock if my life depended on it. But there was a reason why the US Army adopted the P320 as their new service handgun. If it's good enough for the Army. It's good enough for me.

      The Army only finished the first half of testing. They didn't do any of the environmental testing or the rest of the high round count testing, so they don't KNOW for sure what either gun will do in rain, mud, snow, or sand. They don't even KNOW what the maintenance schedule or cost for either gun is going to look like. They don't KNOW what parts need to be replaced or when. That means they don't even KNOW IF the Sig is going to be cheaper than the Glock to run. They literally had no reason to select the P320 yet. THEY NEED TO FINISH THE TESTING.

    • @haboob480productions3
      @haboob480productions3 7 лет назад

      I heard that they finished all the testing and the Sig out performed the glock. Plus it was cheaper than the glock. Also the sig is very durable and the gun itself is the steel chassis that can fit in different variations depending on the shooter. And maintenance is not bad at all. Compared to the Beretta M9.

    • @heretic5061
      @heretic5061 7 лет назад +1

      Army only completed Phase 1 testing (which is basically just 12,500 rounds of mag dumps) and both passed. They also failed to test the compact sized frame for the Sig. The cost only factors in initial investment and does not include potential issues that may crop up that would have been identified in Phase 2 testing. Any R&D needed to fix those possible issues would quickly close the price gap by itself. This is even before Sig is finished being sued by Steyr for patent infringements related to that modular chassis. It would have been cheaper to retrofit the existing M9 stock as Berretta proposed (not to mention the M9 has already passed Phase 1 and 2 testing, had the kinks worked out, and has been in service for over 30 years already). The very least the Army should have done was finish the testing. As of right now they just adopted a gun they know almost nothing about. www.fbo.gov/utils/view?id=6b270ab67d59ba947c5fdbc3e97ee8e2

    I have a P320 Compact also but in .45acp. Love it. Points and shoots great. I purchased it for general shooting at the range and as a bed side gun. One thing that also really impresses me about it is the ease of cleaning that the removable chassis affords. Pop it out, wash things up and pop it back in. Really simple and very little fiddling with hard to clean areas like on most pistols.

    OK, this is a far more useful 'torture test' than the plastic tubs with dirt and mud. For a variety of reasons, those tests are just not realistic. However, even though the possibility of having a 1000 round gun fight is probably nil, seeing how a weapon responds in real time to this kind of abuse is very instructive. Well done, both to MAC and to Sig.

    Going crazy trying to decide what to get for my first hand gun. P320 has been on my list along with the HK VP9, S&W MP 2.0 and the Glock 19.
    Needless to say, after watching this, the P320 has moved way up my list. I also love that you can change out the frame to go from full sized to more compact for concealed carry.
    Great video! That must have been a bear on your arms and especially that trigger finger.

    Could the coloration on the barrel be carbon from the lubricant burning/breaking down? You can be pretty certain that the barrel got hot enough to do that, like seasoning a cast iron pan. 350-400 degrees will do that.

    Just a suggestion, shoot a group at the beginning, at 500 rounds and at the end of the test. Groups to be fired using someone other than endurance test shooter.

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  7 лет назад +9

      At the end I am in no condition to shoot groups. My muscles in my hands and forearms are so jacked that the groups after the shooting would be awful. :) I was easily able to hit a IPSC sized target at 20 yards throughout the test though.

      We haven't been able to get out and film a torture test video in a few weeks. I've been doing a lot of travel. We try to organize the videos and when they get filmed. This one was priority because www.gunmagwarehouse.com had sent us over $1k in magazines to use for the video. I wanted to get it out for them. I am traveling for the next couple of weeks, but when I get done I will knock out 3-4 torture test videos.

    I've never had a malfunction at all with my 320c that I've carried everyday for a year. I have several thousand rounds with not one hiccup. only issue is finish. The take down lever started to rust the first sign of sweat. I now carry it in a Stealth gear so that's not an issue now, but the mag release is rusting now.

    I love the P320, and especially the one piece metal trigger. I was hoping it would do well, and it didn't disappoint. I also noticed the ejection pattern looked very consistent. I only remember seeing one round hit you in the head at the end(24:51) after the 1000rds were fired. Great test/video/& pistol!!
