  • Short video, hopefully answers a few questions clients might have about the battery upgrade we offer.
    Shows the differences side by side, of an original Gen2, 24kw, Nissan Leaf battery pack, vs a rebuilt pack made using brand new CATL cells and modules we import from our trusted supplier, and install using laser-cut steel plates.
    As you can see, the new 40kw modules are quite a bit more compact than the old 24kw modules.
    Shows you how far the battery technology has advanced!
    If you're in NZ and want to know more, we are based in Auckland, you can find us by googling TechWhiz or EV Repair Shop

    What cells are you using, and do they come with the parts (including new wire harness) needed to install?

    • @EVTechWhiz
      @EVTechWhiz  21 день назад

      We make the harness ourself, working on a new supplier that premakes the harness for us

    I have a G3 that is down to about 70% but living in the country we need more, we are down to about 150km anbd going over Bombay Hill in and out is tough on the range anxiety at the end of a trip to, Silverdale, for example. So,
    1. Can you do a G3 upgrade?
    2. What happens to the pack you take out, or is it a refurb only? In which case what happens to the old modules?
    3. What does it cost?

      We are based in Silverdale. =)
      yes, the old modules are recyced responsibly, some get used for offgrid solar, some end up in opther projects, and the worst ones are used for research before beiong disposed of at one of the very small handful of epa regeistered recyclers in nz.
      Sadly, its not cheap, about the same as buying a 85% or better soh 30kw Leaf pack

      @@EVTechWhiz I've been quoted $10k for a 40kWh unit at 90% SOH and $15k for an after-market 52kWh new unit, but getting people to commit to necessary data on them is proving difficult. Also, I'm interested to have my old unit added as household storage to stand between my hybrid solar plus battery and the grid, but I can't get a sparky who can sign off on the work so I can't go ahead. Got an email or mobile that we can have more of a conversation?

      @@EVTechWhiz Main question is, can you do an upgrade from a 30kWh to a 40 or better for a G3 Leaf, how long would it take and what would it cost?

      @ Youll find us on trademe as well under techwhiz.
      40kw are junk, they swell and expand real bad, nearly as bad as 30kw.
