For real, this story hit home for me. I've been in a similar situation and it made me get real comfortable with the word "no" ever since then, and I don't feel bad when I say it. I'm not rude or anything, I still gladly help when I can and when it feels right, but never like this again.
Before helping someone, always make sure they are helping themselves first. I usually give them a few things to do before I do. Such as, asking for letters of reference, credit check etc. I used to help people get their resumes made only to find out they never applied for the job. I started asking for a blurb stating their goals and their last job. They would say “nothing changed from last time you did them” but I would insist. When they didn’t get it to me, I didn’t worry about it. They have to be invested in their own lives.

The Japanese martial arts have a clearly defined Dojo-Kun (or etiquette for training) - if these are being ignored in a dojo it is the Sensei‘s job to take action. No Sensei wants to lose students due to the poor behaviour of another. He should also be made aware of the potential reputational damage to his dojo. In my dojo (I‘m a karate trainer) we have zero tolerance for this type of behaviour - the offender would be out immediately. She had to go. Got into a comfort zone of laziness. Never again. I’ve had friends stay before and it was fine but this was not really my friend so much as an acquaintance. For anyone dealing with any neurological disorders or you’re experiencing lots of anxiety, please take your meds, but also refrain from caffeine. Coffee is delicious which is why there’s decaf, but it’s not worth the adrenaline rush. Eat fruit, drink water, and no nicotine bc it does increase feelings of stress and anxiety (listen to the ads abt nicotine). But yeah, decaf, no nicotine, and meditate. Oh yeah and do NOT isolate yourself for long periods of time if you are in a depressive state. It’s okay to be alone at times during it, but it’s harmful when you let it eat away at you by being alone, convincing you as if you are such. You are loved and you are worthy of love. Your demons don’t define you. And I’m so sorry on behalf of that ignorant racist black man😭🙏🏽💕

That first story, yikes! I do want to say that it's actually really common among people with various mental health conditions to stop taking meds after being stabilized. I have bipolar and have done it many times. I get stable, I feel great, I decide I no longer need meds because I'm oblivious to the fact that it's the ongoing regimen that keeps me stable. It's not like Tylenol that you take for a single headache. It only works if you stay on it consistently. Of course I'm much more experienced and educated now but back in the day I was hospitalized multiple times after quitting meds and going off the deep end. I have much better control of it these days because I understand it better and I'm paying attention to even the tiniest of symptoms leading to depression and/or mania. I get both individually but also mixed episodes sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad OP got out of the situation safely, though she should have done so much sooner.
I have Bipolar 2. I took myself off meds. The meds they had me on were no longer working. I want to see a new therapist. So I can see what my options are for different meds.
Yep, and not just mental health meds. Just about any type of med for different medical conditions, once they think they're better they quit taking them. Antibiotics is a big one. Even meds for diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. And exactly what you said, people only feel better because the medication is working. People also stop taking their mental health medication because like our friend in the first comment mentioned, it just doesn't work. A lot of the mental health meds cause you to feel like a zombie, like you're walking around in a fish bow. A lot of them, despite their purpose, cause certain ideations. A lot of us in the states can't even afford the cost of therapy and medication. I had an aunt with schizophrenia, I loved her so much. She was legally disabled so she did get the care needed but she had a lot of ups and downs with treatments/meds. She left us by choice in 2018. I can't imagine the torment people go thru with schizophrenia.

Bro I just a had a crazy lucid dream to the last story so I woke up and listedned to it again and it was literally so not even close , my dream was terrifying by comparison
I find it interesting when ppl talk about lucid dreaming like it’s super rare or unique , I do it every night , my dreams happen in long chains that have different parts years apart and I can remember things from other dreams in chapters of my current dream

As an aside, does anyone think possible the guys who put the deer 🦌 over the girls tent were maybe trying to attract a grizzly or some other predatory animal to essentially “do their dirty work” ??? That was honestly so strange- the empty tent and sleeping in the car was a genius idea!

That first story, yikes! I do want to say that it's actually really common among people with various mental health conditions to stop taking meds after being stabilized. I have bipolar and have done it many times. I get stable, I feel great, I decide I no longer need meds because I'm oblivious to the fact that it's the ongoing regimen that keeps me stable. It's not like Tylenol that you take for a single headache. It only works if you stay on it consistently. Of course I'm much more experienced and educated now but back in the day I was hospitalized multiple times after quitting meds and going off the deep end. I have much better control of it these days because I understand it better and I'm paying attention to even the tiniest of symptoms leading to depression and/or mania. I get both individually but also mixed episodes sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad OP got out of the situation safely, though she should have done so much sooner.
I have Bipolar 2. I took myself off meds. The meds they had me on were no longer working. I want to see a new therapist. So I can see what my options are for different meds.
Yep, and not just mental health meds. Just about any type of med for different medical conditions, once they think they're better they quit taking them. Antibiotics is a big one. Even meds for diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. And exactly what you said, people only feel better because the medication is working. People also stop taking their mental health medication because like our friend in the first comment mentioned, it just doesn't work. A lot of the mental health meds cause you to feel like a zombie, like you're walking around in a fish bow. A lot of them, despite their purpose, cause certain ideations. A lot of us in the states can't even afford the cost of therapy and medication. I had an aunt with schizophrenia, I loved her so much. She was legally disabled so she did get the care needed but she had a lot of ups and downs with treatments/meds. She left us by choice in 2018. I can't imagine the torment people go thru with schizophrenia.

I had no idea there were scary stories about roommates. I feel bad for the boy who was murdered in one of the stories. Why would the guy to that to him?! Also, I'm glad other people survived in these stories. They were lucky. People should be careful when letting others crash at their place.

Ok, the 1st story was already crazy enough, but the second it mentioned that the insane roommate went off their medication and named what the medication was, my heart skipped a beat. I'm on the same medication. I Pray I never ever have the desire to go off it or run out.
I have schizophrenia and I would neverrrr act like M in the first story. I haven’t had a psychotic episode in many years thanks to a good medication regimen, but even before I was stable I never treated other people like that. It has nothing to do with her diagnosis, she’s just a shitty person.

Alot of the stories were good but one in particular was extremely not good. Just because it wasn't really believable
