Very good job and useful information. I am studying to be electrician and this is useful info about the lighting beyond the aquarium. Thank you

That explains why my plants are growing so slowly, thanks.

Hi! I really like this video series, it is very informative. However, when you speak about the LED driver, I think it would be important to specify that you are using a constant current output driver (as opposed to a constant voltage output). So the voltage will fluctuate in order to maintain that .6A output. Whereas with a constant voltage output driver, the current will fluctuate in order to keep the voltage constant. There are multiple different design considerations that will apply depending on which output regulation driver is used and will determine how to match your LED circuitry to the proper driver so please keep this in mind.
Additionally, I was under the impression that when using lighting systems with LEDs, luminous flux (lumens) is more important than power consumption of the LED (Watts). Whereas with the T12/T8/T5 lighting setup there is a direct correlation with luminous flux and power consumption, the same is not true for LED lighting. So instead, of using a watts/gallon model, a lumens/gallon should be used instead.

    Hello my friend
Awsome Diy, helped me a lot and resolved a tons of questions.
I see u had the same problem i am facing about the drivers, and i'm still crushing my head with that.
Chinese aliexpress sellers, only sell these cheap drivers with 300/600/900 mA and +, and the 3W starleds are 600-700mA..
Some others sell 3W 700mA starleds
So wtf?? Can i use them on 600mA current driver or not? Have u found explanation for this?

Great video! Just a quick one, the minimum number of LEDs you stated were 12, but is it not 10 LEDs (36 / 3.6) ?

haha no problem! I only wanted to make 100% sure as I'm wanting to build my own led setup. Keep up the great work, your vids are awesome.

I have a question. What if i dont use a driver but an ac-dc transformer instead, and to reduce the 12v to whatever the Led works with, to use a resistor?

Pretty much same thing. Only difference is your controlling the output instead of only having set amount.

This is the same confusion I'm facing to plan my circuit on voltage, watts and AMPs
