  • In a heart-stopping moment from the action-packed film Air Force One, President James Marshall, portrayed by the legendary Harrison Ford, and his crew are presented with a chance to escape the clutches of the ruthless terrorist leader, Ivan Korshunov, played by the brilliant Gary Oldman. As the tension reaches a boiling point, the group prepares to make a daring parachute jump from the besieged aircraft. However, just as President Marshall is about to make his leap to safety, Ivan triggers a devastating explosion that violently propels the president into the open air. Suddenly, the commander-in-chief finds himself in mortal danger, hurtling through the sky without the protection of his parachute, facing a perilous and uncertain fate.

Air Force One is a gripping action-thriller that follows the harrowing ordeal of President James Marshall, a former military pilot and decorated war hero, as he fights to protect his family and the nation from a group of hijackers who have seized control of the iconic presidential aircraft. Led by the cold-blooded terrorist mastermind Ivan Korshunov, the hijackers demand the release of a notorious political prisoner, threatening to execute hostages if their demands are not met. With his loved ones held captive and the lives of countless innocent people at stake, President Marshall must draw upon his combat experience and unwavering determination to single-handedly confront the terrorists and save those he holds dear. As the situation escalates and the plane hurtles towards a dramatic climax, the president engages in a battle of wits and physical prowess against his adversaries, showcasing Harrison Ford's commanding presence and the indomitable spirit of a true leader. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen and featuring a star-studded cast, Air Force One is a pulse-pounding thriller that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, delivering a powerful tale of courage, sacrifice, and the unbreakable resolve of the American spirit.

Macy smashing the emergency glass with his elbow at 1:08 was epic, and the future Postmaster General--wonder what became of her--is clearly having the time of her life parachuting to safety at 1:53-1:56. And the late Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic score was truly the cherry on top...he should've received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score.

that glass breaking sound efffect was a little too loud lol, but cool. I have 2 suggestions that would have made these great scenes even more so: at 3:11 when the stupid terrorist points his gun at William Macy , who then says 'let me save him, he's the president for god's sake", Macy should have slapped the man across the face , knowing that he is saving the key hostage and can't be interfered with. it would have showed that yes he is not a gun wielding combatant, just an officer in an administrative role, but can still show he is a military warrior. For our beloved future postmaster general, we should have seen her calling out to the other parachutists to steer towards her and follow her, as she aims for a clearing or church. that would show her character is not just technically smart but has innate leadership ability Those that heard her command would yell it back to the others in earshot behind them and so on. then we'd have a super awesome shot, only needs 3 seconds (seconds are precious in movie time) to show the scattered parachutists coalescing into a formation , drifting to safety

Okay, I love this movie, I know not to take it too seriously, but this has been bugging me for years. All these hostages are parachuting out of the plane, then what? Is the military gonna pick them up later or something? I'm actually asking here, this is the kind of thing I think about.

So...is this bay pressurized or not? Given how humans could operate inside at 30K feet, it _must_ be pressurized. Given how there was a decompression event exploding the hatch, even though opening the outer doors didn't do the same, means the other side of the door must have been pressurized and they bay itself wasn't.
    Huh?

Worst part about this scene is the tanker being destroyed. Just makes me sad. Obviously fiction but taking the real as if it was real, those were just some average Americans that signed up to defend their country and they end up being killed because a bunch of terrorists can't fly a damn plane.

They were still in Russian airspace and it wasn't until James was captured and brought to the communications room after this that they called the White House and ordered them to have the escort fighters withdraw when Air Force One crossed the border or they would execute a member of the First Family.

So SO many things wrong with this scene. The refueling didn't have to take place UNTIL they hit the altitude and even then they could've stalled allowing them to jump and thus never ACTUALLY giving the fuel. Then not putting anybody in charge of defending the door. Then the fucking president not holding to a god damn thing.
