Once again I got sidetracked while I was meant to be cleaning the Burger Bunker. Maybe that's a good thing, I don't know, but it resulted in me putting together this Tom Scholz-based preset for the FM9 which I hereby demonstrate and offer to you for free. You can download it from axechange.fractalaudio.com/det... at your leisure. It will import into your Axe-FX III without any fuss but I haven't tried it with the FM3 yet - I'll leave that to you. For those who don't own Fractal gear, you can still apply the same types of amp/cab/effects modules and EQ concepts to whatever gear you do have and come up with roughly the same results. Rock on.

Great content, as usual!! Please keep the FM9 videos coming. I’m definitely interested in buying one of they get to my name in the list anytime soon.
You’ve got more guitars in there than my local shop! Particularly useful for a lockdown situation…
Great demo Brett. I retired my GT-6 (kids use it for practicing now) when I finished in the covers band 12 years ago. I've been using "real" pedals when part time while jamming since. I haven't dipped my toe into anything this powerful & this FM9 definitely looks the goods to me! Might have to have a better look when the initial rush is over. P.S. I think I like the Metallic Orange Charvel better! Keep sane in lockdown mate.
Love the clean sound , i didn't know that trick ,turning off the cabinet
Sounds fantastic!
Man…your playing is 🔥🔥🔥
I ported this over to the FM3. Removed a couple of blocks like the rotary and wah that I never seem to use. Thanks, Brett!
Wes
I get no sound from this patch on my fm3
@@TheBillMurrray Make sure your input block and output block match (Input 1 - Output 1).
Thanks for this video Brett.
Sounds great!
Fantastic Preset !! Please more
I wish I had his kind of mess at my house! Charvels and amps from the front door to the back!
I've been on a Boston kick myself, lately...guess it's about time I started dialing up the correct tones in my helix.
Now we are talking !!
Hi Brett ... awesome job on the guitar playing and tones you create! I just ordered the FM9 MKII Turbo and the Gilmour Muff from down-under and, I installed the V12 pickup assembly as well ... where can I locate you Fractal FM9 presets for you David Gilmour tones ...? Cheers!
Man, i wish I lived in Australia just so I could go hear you play at a gig Brett.
Hey Kevin. Thanks! It's not much fun in Australia at the moment. Just about every territory is in lockdown and gigs are scarce at best. I hope things are OK in your part of the world.
@@BrettKingman Well, here in Portland, OR we have a statewide mask mandate and transmission levels are "high" in every county in the state...but we're avoiding lockdowns at this point. Admittedly, even if you traveled here to play a gig, I'm not sure I would have the guts to go to an indoor venue. Such is life in the shadow of covid. Glad to have you on RUclips at least!
Hey Burgs - love your stuff! Any chance of running through your Bronw sounds/EVH presets on the FM9 - any difference between those on the FM9 vs the FM3? Also, have you tried the parallel amp thing yet? Cheers, Doogz
Thanks for this Brett! Just got he preset loaded into my FM9 and it's amazing... Never thought of using a fixed wah to get the Boston honk-brilliant! What are you using for on stage monitoring?
Do you have difficulty reading scribble strips when unit placed on floor?
Awesome Brett! What about harmonies?!!
Betweens this and the gt-1000, I'm your opinion which one has the best sounding amps? I mean, the FX amps is very good and the gt-1000 has A.I.R.D and MDP
Brett, if your place is a mess, mine must be a nuclear blast site!
Do you think the possessing is better than the quad coretex?
I am hesitant to try any Fractal stuff again as I never liked the clean sounds . The Clean amp models just do not sound near as natural or as good as the Overdrive/distorted amps sounds. And the "Compressor' on it just does not cut it country style picking, What was i doing wrong ?? Even in this Video, the cleans sound too digital . I really need a preset that sounds a like pushed fender Deluxe being hit with a nice analog compressor.
Imported into AXE3 with zero fuss and sounds Smokin'
Do you know when it's available I'm on the waiting list. And how much?
Yeah price is what I’m also awaiting on
@@lukeandmelreynolds479 1,599 I believe in US dollars
@@jamesnorton7601 yup I saw that somewhere also be interesting though with conversion rates and tax they put on it sub$2500 would be acceptable
Hi Brett, I downloaded your rig1 from.your live show and it won't load. Any tips?
Got it downloaded, i didn't have 2.0 update, my bad.
Do you know when this is available in Australia and it’s cost please
The preset is available globally and for free. The FM9 is in short supply because there's a global semi-conductor shortage. Australia has been waiting for nearly two years, and there maybe a longer wait yet. Cost will depend on the exchange rate, shipping, taxes at the time of availability...so I have no idea, sorry. You'll need to consult Fractal Audio's Australian distributor, Independent Music.
At first I thought you were Dropkick some Murphys
Dig your videos & playing, but must admit I'm a bit confused as to how you you tubers are getting your hands on these when there is such a waiting list ?
Because he's a beta tester. And one of the best out there! :)
because he reviews gear, has a following, and Fractal Pty wants to promote the product.
So what is the price? I see nothing on their site regarding how much the unit costs.
I believe around $1599
@@brandonproctor3639 Thanks :)
E quelli a cui è arrivata ora la FM3 !!!!!

I have very split opinion about this FM9… In one way, I tend to prefer a rack version to be placed on the desk and be used as main audio interface, which isn’t great with a floor model. However, a Axe FX III mk2 + FC12 is definitely more expensive than this FM9. I would be fine with the power of the FM9, and enough switch for my (home) studio use. However, the US price is great, but the European price is, as usual, horrible since $1,599 = 1,300-ish Euros, even if you add the 20% VAT, it’s still far from the 2,000 Euros G66 is asking for. They always tend to use the worse currency rate and the worse margin for their “services” of being a warehouse to forward orders to European clients. So overall, I don’t know what to think about it… the product looks great; if I would need to pay the big bucks, I might just save a little longer and go all the way for a FX III mk2. If it would be in the $1,600/1,600€ price range, then I would probably go for the FM9…
Anyhow, enough with my rant… thanks for the demo Brett!
Same in NZ and Aussie. We have to buy from the local dealer who has a middle man monopoly and seems to add a big cut. The price is much, much higher than US peeps pay. It is not just Fractal though. Lots of guitar brands are more expensive down under than US peeps pay. Fractal is the biggest disparity I have seen though.
I just play at home these days, so decided to stick with DAW and plugin amps with IRs, while buying another guitar instead of outboard gear. A Fractal unit is just DSP and switching for running algorithms that amount to plugins really. If the signal DAW is getting good due to things like high quality DACs, then any comparable plugin should also sound similarity good. Downside of DAW is it is not portable. Fractal and Helix et cetera is great for gigging.
"welcome to the mess" yea but it's a beautiful guitar mess 😂👍
I just want a modeller that has a few really good amps, effects pedals, IRs and a a knob based interface. I don't want an entire studio in a box for thousands of dollars. Almost nobody needs all this stuff, just more practice.
Check out the Line 6 HX Stomp
@@WhiteWolf-- POD GO is great. Other than a few things.
Things is that the few really good amps, effects pedals etc. that suits you, won't necessarily suit me. So the ability to sculpture/tailor your own amazing sound is possible for both of us, but alas not something usually achievable with other modellers.
then consider: Headrush MX5
There is no denying the incredible sound quality of the fractal gear & you're correct it has a lot of stuff under the hood. If you plug them into a computer, even an old laptop, it's is super easy. Just dragging and dropping the fx/amp blocks at their defaults you will get great tones. I'v seen the FM3 at $999 usually holidays like Labor Day (Monday).
