Hey, don't make highways, go up into the nether roof, so your middle coordinate is 114 and you'll never have an issue other than lava pockets, and occasionally piglins and hoglins
It is a better idea to build your portal and highways in the ceiling and use blue ice and boats to move without the worry of ghosts and other mobs attacking you
Finally, someone else who thought of this... after months of building stupid little half slab bridges in the Nether in peaceful mode because ghasts kept blasting me off. There are still risks building a high way right beneath the bedrock nether roof, but the risk is so much lower than bridging over a lava lake while ghasts shoot fire balls at you... WHY are there no channels that recommend this

Not really (from Google): If something is flammable it means it can be set fire to, such as a piece of wood. However, inflammable means that a substance is capable of bursting into flames without the need for any ignition. Unstable liquid chemicals and certain types of fuel fall into this category. The opposite of both words is non-flammable.
Wow this really helped after I died today because my game lags and takes forever to load but I can still take damage and i lose all my diamond gear and lost it. So helpful
Pro tip, make your nether highway in the ceiling at about 120, less mobs to deal with at that point. And you can just dig out the material instead of needing a bunch of materials. Once done just add packed ice.
This is how I imagine the Fortresses, being it. When they were first built, but all of the negative and soul energy turned all the bricks red and made Some of it crumbled down into the lava.

Or go at the nether roof, not on it but about 2-3 blocks below it and mine in the direction you want to go and place a portal by mining blocks anywhere you want to. You can also build a railway track there
did something like this in a realm with the bois We made our own rail system through the nether which not only made it easier for traversing purposes but we never really had to worry about ghasts shooting at us considering how fast we were moving
I have a really successful miencraft world on my switch. And created one 2 bases 3000 blocks apart. And I created a nether highway using rails and its so cool.
I usually build these on the roof. No problems with mobs and terrain. Also for builds inside the nether i wouldn't use glass because it's not blast resistant against ghasts.
While a ghast cannot see through glass I would advise on adding a door because it only takes one ghast to see you through that opening and your whole place blows up just believe it or not Cobblestone and glass can still blow up to ghast attacks it's not bedrock lol and also if you're going to do the bridge Highway idea you should Dome off the bridge because again it only take one ghast to blow up your bridge

Sadly, I can't seem to find a video that explains how to do this "portal linking" in a way that my peanut brain can understand... It's always so complicated
Its smarter going to the top, a few blocks down of the first bedrock layer, that way you only going to break easy some netherrack to make your portals zone and don't being exposed to the ghasts and another mobs all the time, and you stay close to the roof of the nether so you can break that bedrock block in top of your first portal, make another portal in top of the bedrock and now you have all the roof of the nether spawnproofed and ready to use as you wish.
