Have you tried oil painting yet? How was your first oil painting?

I found the oil 10 times Easier than the acrylics. You got to be genius to blend with Acrylics LOL

:D I definitely would't like to use Acrylics without a good amount of drying retarder medium :P

I also came from the watercolors corner and the (mental) approach in oil is sooo much different and less stressful, because you know you can heal every brushstroke and tone. This might be the most important advantage for beginners. Also, the color on you palete looks almost the same on the canvas, even when fully dried. As a watercolor artist, you have to think: that's amazing! Why did I voluntarily make my life so difficult? :D

@@masterjeffrey87 so true 😄 still there is an immediacy to watercolor I really like. How quick it can be and the beauty in seeing water and pigment flowing together. Especially for quick sketches it's unbeatable.

@@robdomeart yes, for sktetches watercolor/gouache is unbeatable. For example finding a good composion or a light/shadow-concept of a new project. Combining all these approaches is amazing.

Yes I remember the first I was a teenager. Already this feels like a different type of story lol. No but seriously your painting is far better than my first and it was a landscape. Understanding mediums in oil is something that takes time more even than cleaning up. I went from oil to watercolor. I think you will enjoy working on a gessoed surface much more its easier to move paint and make alterations. I would say just make sure to get a fairly good quality gesso or it will be a lot like latex. Good luck and your portrait looks great especially for first go in a new medium.

Thank you! Interesting, I'm basically doing the opposite, from watercolor to oils :P, even though I love watercolor and definitely make more videos on it. I'm going to try to paint on gessoed canvas, I spent 2 days sanding and gessoing 😅. I read somewhere to use non absorbent gesso but all I could find in art shops was semi-absorbent, hope I didn't just waste money and time lol. Thanks for watching.
