Hi folks! After almost one month of working on it here it is! This vintage scooter has another life! Thank you so much for watching my videos and for your support! Cheers!
Hey - if you use a new pair of gloves, and apply the metal putty with your finger, you can fill the holes and not leave all that extra stuff that has to be sanded off.
I had same scooter back in 1960s. Given to me by my father in Russia. Watching you restore this scooter brot my childhood memories. Excellent restoration. Thank you for the video 👍
When putting the grips on the handlebars . . . a small amount of liquid soap helps get them on and when it dries, it acts like glue to keep them in place
You should consider removing the tires from the rims and installing a rim band (thin strip of rubber that goes around the inside of the rim) so that the spokes won't puncture the tube. That's why all spoke rims, including these, have that band.
Qué hermoso, me encantó.
@@rustyshadesrestoration any longterm experience for the rims? i like your work, good job all in all but i would feel save with the rim repair, so it would be interresting to know if they hold up, everything else really nice!
This was great! I like the way you structure your videos, with some disassembly, then restoration of those parts, more disassembly, more restoration, etc. I prefer it to complete disassembly, then restoration of everything and then re-assembly. It makes the process clearer to people like me, with little knowledge of the steps involved (plus, I don't forget what a part is for as easily!).
Absolutely beautiful -- both the restoration skills and the end result! True craftsmanship -- great use of so many different techniques that were so well executed.
Hi! ✌ What a marvelous beauty you've re-created! I can't get enough at looking at the finished scooter. I love the close-ups you give us at the end; they show how perfect you made everything that was almost destroyed. I remember this scooter's time and the popularity of them among the young boys. I know there were millions of memories created with these. And I loved that you went with the original colors. What a knock out compared the that green. 😩 Thank you, thank you, for giving us insight into this beautiful piece of the past. Blessings, and take care. 💟
A magnificent restoration of an ‘urban mobility tool’... even before the concept was invented! Hats off to you! (I have to admit that when you tackled the wheels, I thought it was a goner!)
Thank you, David. I found a photo with this scooter and the wooden foot stand wasn't painted, that's why I choose not to paint it, but yes, black could fit well though.
@@rustyshadesrestoration We still have the scooter but there is no brand on it that I can see. It would have been something either Australian (where I live) or British, I think.
I had one very similar but the mudguards and wheels were chrome, the Scooter was a much brighter Red and handle bar grips were white. Also running board had a grooved rubber mat so your foot did not slip off.
I love oiled wood. But in this particular case, it was better to paint the wood. Nevertheless, a lot of work has been done and done well. I was intrigued by the through holes in the rims, but you solved that problem too. Of course I like your video.
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. It was a lot of work indeed, but when you like what you do, you don't feel it so much. Cheers and thank you for your time!
Woah a very impressive video, I really like your video. You give such amazing detail. You take off each piece and fix it one by one. Awesome job, bro❤🍻🍻
This is one of your best restorations so far, the rims came out awesome! 🤩 Also the eyes on the vacuum cleaner at 3:59 😆😆😆 It looks just like a platypus 😆
Great job as always. And I think you are just messing with us. TA DAM Is actually TA DAH here in the West. I think you spell it the same there? Anyhow it did not matter. I love your work and thanks for the sub titles for us to read.
Very Nice. How did you make the New brandi sticker. With mirror effect paper. It's look like very golf quality. I must make à New one for à 70's bicycle
Because the fenders had 2-3 layers of paint, the sandblasting media will get bad immediately, and it will take a lot of time to clean it. Stripping some paint will make your life easier.

I didn't know this technique. Thank you!
Even better technique imo: use compressed air. Shoot it underneath the grips while sliding them on, much less mess. Great video
I will try this too. Thanks for sharing and watching! 🙂

Now is this going to be a display piece? Is the rim repair strong enough to ride it? I love watching old things get restored.
Thank you. It will be only displayed, but the repair, I think is strong enough to ride it by a 10-12 yrs old.
Fantastic job 😊

Hi. Because I don't have such a big oven to bake larger pieces. Thank you! 🙂
@@rustyshadesrestoration Perfect thanks for answer me ☺️☺️☺️☺️

When bluing do you have to let sit in oil or lubricant afterwards or is just bluing ok?
It is good to let it for at least 8h in lubricant, otherwise some oxyde can appear again.
For the best result: cleaned well, acetone, bluing, lubricant/oil.
Gees-o-petes... how many layers of paint were there? Lol
Hahaha 😁
Do you think everyone has a chrome bath in the workshop? I tell you that no, so I did what was possible. 🤦🤷♂️
Easy to comment around, hard to make stuff 🙂
Why didnt youbsandblast the fenders from the start and you used paint stripper?
Because the fenders had 2-3 layers of paint, the sandblasting media will get bad immediately, and it will take a lot of time to clean it. Stripping some paint will make your life easier.
Very 👍
