Hi folks! This project was a real challenge considering I had to deal with such a nasty crack. Cast iron isn't easy to weld, it is probably the most hostile material when it comes to welding, but I managed pretty well; it could look worse, and I'm delighted that it passed the test, almost 90kg; that's a huge thing! I hope you will enjoy the process, and if you have any questions, please feel free; I'm always responding to all of you! Cheers! Johnny 🥰
You did a wonderful job restoring it!!I would have put that seam in the chrome ring around the dial at the bottom not at the top where it's seen every time
@dougallmctavish8113 that had a purpose: to be able to film while I hop on it. This cannot be a pity at all, especially when we talk about four screws to put it whatever side. So, from all the videos this is the single thing that made you comment, that's a pity... Cheers.
Imagining the amount of feet this scale has seen, just before seeing it thoroughly cleaned (and sterilised) with a laser, is the most satisfying thing ever.
I wonder how many people this scale has weighed who have walked out of the doctor's office happy! Very nice restoration! (The thickness of the glass protecting the dial is impressive!)
I have to say you have some very critical followers! I think you did a marvellous job of the whole thing, including the welding. I love your videos and eagerly await new videos. In the meantime I re-watch the old ones! Cheers from Australia. 🤗🇦🇺
Thank you so much. Yeah, some are critical because they don't know how cast iron is behaving or how difficult it is to weld it, especially to keep 80+ kilos. I'm very proud of this weld job and of how the project went. Frustrated guys will always exist, or the ones that think they know better, so I just get used to it. Anyway, most of my followers are friendly, and they genuinely appreciate my work. 🙂
👏👏👏 Incredible job on the restoration! The attention to detail and craftsmanship is simply outstanding. It's evident that a lot of love and dedication went into bringing this early 1900s cast iron Alexanderwerk doctor scale back to its former glory. The end result is truly stunning and a testament to your skills. Bravo! 💪🔧💜
Very nice and accurate work. I wish you progress, success and sustenance. Greetings. I wish you a good day and safety and security Abdullah from the State of Kuwait
Because cast iron is nasty, the carbon can migrate if you try to weld again, and when will get cold, you will get a crack 🤣 Cast iron is the hardest thing to weld. For me, those pits were perfect because i knew that they could be worse. And the fact that it survived a 90kg test is something extraordinary. Try to see on RUclips guys welding cast iron (at 40kg, the weld is broken), and they are still happy! Cheers! 🙂
It's not the first time, but cast iron welding isn't the easiest thing and doesn't always look perfect. I have 90 kg, and this welding job kept me there are guys with 20 years of experience who are amazed by having a cast iron weld that holds 40 kilograms. So, I'm happy with the result 😀
At 7:03 lead test is taken and the swab is red which means that the paint contains lead which isn’t good. That’s why the old paint needed to be removed before laser cleaning.
Is it just me or was the dial face facing the feet when it was unboxed then facing out when restored. Why? But great work definitely will be watching more
Thank you. You are right, but there's a reason behind it. I mounted it that way to be able that someone else to film the test at the end while I hopped on it. Cheers!
Great restoration. Just a question: the paint was leaded so paint stripper was a better way to go to get rid of it. But then you use a laser cleaner and vapourised the rest of it? Hope you were in an extraction booth when doing it!
Thank you. I have a well ventilated area and i always wear my mask. Anyway, that amount of paint that remained after paint-stripping was pretty insignificant to be able to contaminate the workplace.
Thank you. I needed someone to film me hoping on the scale at the end of the test. That's the reason for installing the dial in the opposite direction. Good observation, though! 👍
Zauważyłem jakby Pan tracił cierpliwość do nagrywania z biegiem czasu. Wszystko fajnie, daje łapkę w górę, ale na sam koniec strasznie szybko wszystko się wydarzyło. Wg mnie mniej drapania farby a więcej naprawy renowacji i montażu. Choć lasera zazdroszczę;) 😊
Subik i łapa leci zostaje na dluzej i czekam na wiecej a sama waga przypomina mi produkty z NRD lecz nie wiem czy one mialy jakas tabliczke znam czy nie
Thank you. My focus was to keep myself over 80kg, and I succeeded. Cast iron will never be perfect anyway, only if I will be weld off-camera for one month. Read about. Cheers
I'm surprised the other side wasn't also cracked near the attachment point. Very bad design. I thought Alexanderwerk stuff was supposed to be better than that.

Brilliant video again my friend and a beautiful restoration again. Until next time brother. Sending massive love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Thank you! Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 ❤️
Really nice job 👍 I could watch that laser rust remover all day long. Turned out great. Well done
Thanks buddy! ✊️
Outstanding Job ! Very good work with the Type 2 Phaser to clean off the metal. 😁
Thank you! 🙂
@@rustyshadesrestoration Your Welcome !! 😃
Never seen laser paint removal before. That was kewl!! Love your videos. Keep them coming!!
Thank you for watching my videos! 🙂
That's a fine example, and the dial is now the right way round...great job, as usual...dgp/uk
Amazing restoration, another piece saved from the scrap heap👍

Another gorgeous creative 👏👏

What a great way to remove rust, excellent restoration I might add.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

Another great restoration, good job man 👍👍
Thank you! 🙂
Nice work. It actually looked to be in fairly decent condition. And now it will be well looked after. 👍
Thank you! 🙂 I'm glad you enjoyed the transformation.
Much applicable that you block the welding light most RUclipsrs don't & it makes it hard to watch them !!! 👍
Thank you! 🙂
Beautiful restoration and color 😊
Thank you Andrew!
Thank you that was interesting.
Thank you for watching! 🙂
Interesting packaging 😮😂
And great work😊
Thank you, Alexander!
Amazing job as always!
Thanks bro! ✊️

Thank you! 🙂
Must admit I loved the original paint, but good work!
Thank you 😊
The paint was so tough it had more lead then pigment! Lol great job!
Thanks!
Ottimo lavoro... bravo davvero bravo !!! 👏💯👍

This laser rig makes sand blasting look like child's play 😮😮😮
😅
I like your work. Nice job.
Thank you!
I think, this scale is perfect for me. I never can top my weight over 125 Kilo.😂😂😂 Very good Job. High decorativ in every Bathroom.👍👍👍👍👍
I lost 45 Kilo. Now I am down to 125.
Good job❤
Thank you! 🙂
Why couldn't welding be done again after stripping? The holes in the crack remained ... They can be seen even after everything.

Jak zwykle kibicuje gorąco . Piękna robota. Pozdrawiam
Dziękuję! Pozdrawiam
OMG scratching the paint with your knife is terrible haha our hairs are definitely standing up, but what a beautiful restoration, wow
Haha, thank you for letting me know! I'll try to avoid that if it is so annoying.
Very good Job 💪👍
Thank you! 🙂
Przepięknie jest ta waga starodawne zabytkowa odrestaurowana Pozdrawiam serdecznie👍👍👍👍👍👍
Bardzo dziękuję! Pozdrawiam 🙂
Was that the very first time you ever welded? All the rest of your work looked really good!

What spray do you use for the rusty machine screws?
WD-40 🙂
Felicidades que bien y bonito trabajas.Dios te bendiga.
Thanks ✊️
The mailman must have thought he was delivering a model of the Starship Enterptise. 😂
I hope he didn't try to fly with it. Perhaps that's how the crack appeared...
😠

Nice job, but why did you put back the white board upside down ???
But the older machine is so much more beautiful!!
What was much more beautiful? I'm not sure I understand you. That scale was broken and full of rust inside....
Great restoration. Just a question: the paint was leaded so paint stripper was a better way to go to get rid of it. But then you use a laser cleaner and vapourised the rest of it? Hope you were in an extraction booth when doing it!

I wonder how many feet 🦶 have stood on that? Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching! 🙂
Maybe they could run DNA tests on the crud in order to find out.
I need to find and remove the spider in my scale! He's has to be the reason it says I weigh so much!
😅😅😅
Why cover the base of the scale in black sand?
To slowly cool down; otherwise, the carbon will migrate too fast and, boom, another beautiful crack will occur 😆
Love it!!!
Thank you! 🙂
¿Por qué el trabajo de soldadura quedó de esa manera? ¿No había una mejor forma para que quedará más pulido?
❤❤ New video😊😊
Thank you for watching!!
At the end, when you said it wasn't bad for an old fellow. Did you mean the scale or your weight? 😉
Hahaha 😁
ficou super legal
Good Job but the Scale 19:00 is wrong sided installed 🙂 Ta-Daah
Thank you. I needed someone to film me hoping on the scale at the end of the test. That's the reason for installing the dial in the opposite direction. Good observation, though! 👍
Piękna robota - wygląda jak nowa. W jaki sposób ręcznie skalibrowałeś i dostosowałeś dokładność pomiaru masy?
Zauważyłem jakby Pan tracił cierpliwość do nagrywania z biegiem czasu. Wszystko fajnie, daje łapkę w górę, ale na sam koniec strasznie szybko wszystko się wydarzyło. Wg mnie mniej drapania farby a więcej naprawy renowacji i montażu. Choć lasera zazdroszczę;) 😊

What scale are the measurements in? Kilos or pounds? Nice job on the restoration. 😊😊
Kilos 😉
Thank you. We are metric in Australia too.
You weren't watching very attentively...the wird 'KILO' is on the bottom of the dial...
Subik i łapa leci zostaje na dluzej i czekam na wiecej a sama waga przypomina mi produkty z NRD lecz nie wiem czy one mialy jakas tabliczke znam czy nie
nice job. But you should have welded the holes up and not put filler to hide them
❤
Thank you for watching, Jack!
So the max weight. For the scale is 275.578 pounds.
The crack could have been seamless( from all us of with ocd) other than that great job
Thank you. My focus was to keep myself over 80kg, and I succeeded. Cast iron will never be perfect anyway, only if I will be weld off-camera for one month. Read about. Cheers
Sorry to say but dial and the needle are upside down. 😮. 😊
No they are not...they were wrong when he got the piece...the dial is for the Doctor's information, more than the patient's...think about it...dgp/uk
I'm surprised the other side wasn't also cracked near the attachment point. Very bad design. I thought Alexanderwerk stuff was supposed to be better than that.
Średnio z tym spawem wyszło...
👍💯
Ну и зачем надо было их реставрировать, если они неверно показывают?
👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏
Thank you for watching! 🙂
I'd have been so pissed it was that hard to get the paint off
Yeah, I struggled a bit, but that's the job 🙂
You know it's a really old scale by the fact it only goes up to 125 kgs😄
you know that you dont have to cover the welding laser its not dangerous for our eyes, because the screen cant create uv radiation
I love mechanics, where not a single gram of plastic.
that tuyet./
I think you could have done better on the weld job.
Hi. Please explain how I could do it better.
Mark 1:15 💌 …The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.💌

Explain the useless thumbnail arrow?????I can see the scale just fine without it!
Red is the clue. Search about it. Cheers!
I already know what the arrow is for, I was hoping you would explain it to the class!
