I'm also a black photographer and it has crossed my mind that a cop or racist lunatic might mistake my camera for a gun. It's an uneasy feeling knowing that my skincolor has unconsciously been weaponized by others.
Love this. It's so important that we capture these moments, our culture, our essence. Gordon Parks was my favorite photographer growing up, a legend. ❤
More please. America- the rug that history wove. As an artist who studied art history- the people who owned the ink, the churches. Then the people who owned the presses and controlled what was printed- the rich and the elite- they controlled what was shared. Sure I am making sweeping generalizations about news and what “the real people” (as in the working poor) see. Thank God for this lovely artist who is capturing truth. The world we live in now- the very rich and us... barely making it- pay check from paycheck. I would love to see more artist who are out there- - doing what they do- cause they are creatives. Creatives make art. I am glad to stand next to this wise photographer as an artist. CBS- please let’s change the political future- please let compassion and love flourish. Don’t let the present administration choke the truth from your news. Please. Praying for our country to prosper and flourish. A 60 year old MFA just trying to get by.
As a black postgraduate student, I’ve picked up my camera again after years of not taking pictures because of Andre D. Wagner. I’m currently shooting daily in Subsaharan Africa.
Absolutely awesome! This is why I am a black photographer, to tell our stories that otherwise would not be told. God bless you son on your journey.
His art is amazing. I have always loved photography. I really like the use of Black and White for images. Stunning.
Mr. Wagner is one of the best photographers in America right now. Thanks for shining a spotlight on him.

The big industry does not give black photographers a chance
Because the only way the police will ever tell the public "Don't shoot" is when they are holding a camera.
