The beginning year, when the bombs fell, is 2077. The show's universe diverged from ours after WWII. The asthetic is basically retro futuristic. In other words, it looks like what people in the 50s imagined what the world of tomorrow would look like.

Your editing was spot on. You caught all the highlights. On par with other fallout reactors.
The gun that was used to shoot the baby doll leg at the end is called a junk jet. It's from the game. You basically load it with any ol' junk you're carrying :-)
