We finally figured out that the Marine who ordered the Chinese food unintentionally gave them the wrong barracks number. No one answered at the restaurant, as they were closed. Sadly I can relate to this sentiment….😔. My wife is constantly amazed that I do not remember to celebrate holidays, including birthdays. I remember being dumbfounded when in the middle of a crisis there was a bill on the floor and Congress just went home for their scheduled 3 week break. Not a holiday, not a shut down, just time off while their constituents suffered. Like, wtf?? You have one job. You can't just leave in the middle of it.

I had Asian bosses. The grandpa would stand at the door to greet the employees, one min late he points at his watch and the employee, “You late! Good attitude. It’s true. Discipline is king. Learning from harsh taskmasters, with the right attitude, is basically weaponizing your resume and future - nothing stops you. Most people can’t take it though. They think their bosses have to be their friends. Fuk that. Make your own friends on your own time. You work for bosses who know their shit and can teach you something so you can make yourself better. If you happen to get along that’s just a bonus, but completely unnecessary. People don’t get that though, most think it should be the other way around, boss needs to be friend first then about work. But that’s messed up.
In some cultures, if you show up on time, you're seen as a wannabe bootlicker. Normal people decide to get up and get ready for work at the "start time" 😅

@Dapper Canuck I would not compare Trump to anyone with nuanced ideas. I have some fundamental disagreements with Andrew Yang and frankly disagree with his ideas on a Universal Basic Income. However, the republican party had no one better than Donald Trump, who advocates for extremism to nearly the fullest extent on the right. So, naturally, the left won and we're stuck with Joe Biden instead of someone like Yang or Tulsi Gabbard. Of course, it extends further back to the Bush administration in many ways, but a center left or center right candidate with some of their own ideas would have been a real breath of fresh air.
My Caucasian-American wife and I remark on the state of affairs like this semi-regularly, especially when it comes to restaurants and food service businesses. I've always argued that if you can put up working at a Asian restaurant, you'll be able to make it in just about any other profession in the world. I think that it's a tie as to what's scarier: A sergeant who's got a live side arm when you're presenting to the military as an undergrad researcher or the owner-wife-lady of a restauant, constantly yelling at you about all of the things that you're doing wrong or aren't doing things the way she taught you to do them. American/Western businesses and bosses are all about not making you feel bad. As an Asian, I'm always all about "what can you do better next time?" Kaizen that shit. My supervisors at work have told me, explicitly, that I am always harder on myself than they will EVER be of me. (I work for an American company.) We have been getting nothing but bad options in every party since Obama. Why does American a superpower keep getting bad presidents. There are countless things that need work in our country. Our economy, prison, laws we still have a lot of stupid laws though most of them are not brought to court but still, there should be laws for all different situations, pay gap, health care, insurance, minimum wage should be raised because the cost of living just keeps getting higher, human trafficking, the cost of home have gotten way too high, adopting a kid costs way too much to the point most people can’t even afford to adopt, foster care, and more.

So Asians need the systems developed by the US to prosper!
You support unhappiness this mans a slave for his dollars and you eating this up just shows how ready you are to have a man talk down to you while you serve him 😂 everything he talks about has nothing to Do with happiness. Freedom doesn’t come from money it comes from being self efficient. By self efficient I mean growing your own food feeding your animals ect. Everything you can do for yourself but you guys are so ready to go serve other men it’s embarrassing. 😂
Governing based on logic and results instead of agendas makes sense, but that has nothing to do with being Asian or not. All I have to do is look over at Asia to see where I don't want to be, and I should know because I emigrated from Asia to the US! Japan and South Korea specifically seem nice, but that is at least partially the result of American influence. What we need here now is real Americans--of any race, I don't care--in government instead of all the wannabe authoritarian commies there now.
I did my best to support Asian restaurants in 2020 with my gig delivery thingy ... The food gets done ON TIME and I GOT TIPPED WELL as a result. 👍
As an immigrant whose parents run an Asian restaurant, thank you guys so much and I hope we also get to a point where delivery workers are also treated well.

LOL!
Yang lost because he didn't know how to push back against all of the anti-Asian attacks. I know how he can do it. Yang needs to be far more vocal in his criticisms of Red China and also criticize all of the politicians, and others, acting in Red China's interest. Yang can run as an American Nationalist for the 21st Century. Yang should be giving speeches about how Bush and Hank Paulson are stabbing Americans in the back with Free Trade, and he should blame the NBA for inciting lots of attacks against East and South Asians because many of them criticize Red China.

"Working on Christmas" that is so true. I'm in a IT support job for the last 20 years or so, during my early career days, last two week of December and first week of Jan, we almost had zero or very very few calls from customers. But it slowly changed, now we get almost regular amount of calls during Christmas and new year Eve. 99% callers are Chinese and Indians based out of western countries.
And the best part is they don't mind working during holidays, they are much relaxed as boss is on holiday.
Christmas being a christianity festival is actually not a holiday in China. The real ‘christmas’ Chinese people celebrate is the Chinese calendar new year which is in February. Chinese don’t work on holidays they just work on your holidays…
well screw them.
Agree it used to be dead around Christmas time but India has more holidays than then the US. Seams like every-time they have a Holiday when I need them. Not as many as Argentina but still a lot.
We Indians have so many holidays that the government had to limit 10 holidays for a financial year. But the sad part is we have to work through our holidays because the western countries are working.
because they they weeks off in Chinese New Year. During that time you may get all calls from non-chines countries. Thinking logically!
I remember a Chinese company that was constructing a road in my country (rwanda) in 1995 when war was still ravaging. Some Chinese got killed. They burried them on site and work continued.
These guys will never stop for anything. They're my heroes.
Sad a lot of people in the west don't realise how much China has done to assist African nations over the decades. Mainly due to media bias reporting because it will go against the narrative, as western government interests has always been against African long term prosperity by sustaining conflicts for profits. China is like, if no one will truly help you out, I will.
@@TheAverlorn that's true. Westerners suffer from a false feeling of entitlement and an illusion of grandeur. Some of them are out right ignorant and believe in the propaganda propagated by the media.
@@TheAverlorn @Faustin The propaganda isn't that wrong either. China does help out African nations but only for the end result of expanding their powers. The heroes spoken in stories usually are severely underpaid and heavily exploited; those gigs are probably their only way out in life. I'm just speculating but given the way they treat the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities, I don't see why they wouldn't do it.
You guys gotta remember that the fault hardly ever lies with the people; it's the governments. They have a guy who made himself president for life. If that's not a red flag I don't know what is.
@@vdinh143 Well duh who doesnt know that but the Uyghurs aren't the overseas professional engineers or builders. They are stuck at the camps.
