Marcus had a hell of a childhood. most of the album 'alien' is about it. He said in an interview that members of his family fell out with him because he "aired the dirty laundry" on his upbringing. Its a wild ride
Watched Northlane in a little club in my howetown two weeks ago and off to see them again today at Good Things festival in Melbourne. Headliners are Korn. Stoked.
Such a powerful video. I can't help but tear up. I'm about to have a daughter and really want to do everything I possibly can to give her the best life possible
I legit thought about requesting this song but never did cause I didn’t know if the video would be too much lol Northlane is a great band all around and I’ve always related hard to their lyrics especially the ones from Marcus’ childhood experiences. Glad you guys liked even though it is a hard watch!
its so sad that Marcus had to go through all this garbage when he was a kid, this entire album is pure pain, i highly recommend "Sleepless" from the same album, really depressing song but has such a good sound
loved watching this through your guys' eyes. I haven't watched the music video since it came out and I'm reminded that it's definitely a hard watch. I'm not 100%, but from what I've gathered from the lyrics from the last couple albums from Northlane, I think Marcus the vocalist received a lot of backlash from family regarding his lyrics about his past with them. sucks that that family who've scarred you that deeply can't reflect on their actions even through the therapeutic lens of his music but I guess that maybe shows how far gone they are in terms of accountability. would love a full journey of this album one day because it really lives up to its name "Alien" lol
He said in an interview, that the reason why this Album is called Alien, is because this is how he felt when growing up.

Absolutely ❤🖤 Northlane. Their music is amazing and they can invoke any every emotion within the same song

Ah nice! I also requested this, but just in the comments. This album IMO is their best work yet.

Many of the songs Marcus writes about are his childhood. I don't know if these exact things happened, but I know that he had a hell of a childhood.
Marcus is awesome. Should check out talking heads song next I'd havent already. Northlane's alien album is so so good
