Scrub Tactics 101 - Street Fighter 6 - Dealing with Akuma's St. HK Spamming

  • Hey folks, today we will be focusing on one of the most oppressive moves in Street Fighter 6. Yes, as you can see from the title, it is all about Akuma's St. HK.
    Handling this move might seem daunting at first, but over time, you will realize that it is not that scary.
    Take the time to mix in all the options in responding to the St. HK because it is important to be unpredictable in both offense and defense in Street Fighter 6. Once you play this game long enough, you will figure out what I mean.

    Punishing this move alone got my secondary character to Master lol. I crouch block a lot and realized it was a free punish pretty quickly. It helped that EVERYONE was playing Akuma at the time. Then after a while I realized it was always a PUNISH counter and that really upped my game because I could optimize my combo to use less meter, get more damage, and better oki. I didn't realize it was -13 though, I could be optimizing even more....

    Crouch blocking is number one; overheads are always made to be reactable, so especially against Akuma you should always default to crouch block so this move becomes a huge risk for him. It's important to learn the other options like delay tech in general, and know your options when you DO happen to block it standing, though.
    Keep in mind that you do need to block the first hit crouching for the second hit to whiff; switching to low guard after blocking the first hit standing won't cause a whiff.

    That’s great stuff. The issue is that once they recognize what you are doing they can start the unreal fireball game, they can go into the demon flip options, they can start the air fireball, vs OD fireball vs a normal jump in and try to mix you up with that. They can manipulate the walk speed to dart in and out and disrupt your distance. They can use the adamant flames and be plus on block, they can throw the standing heavy at a distance to stay safe, and they can throw in a teleport throw once or twice a match in the midst of all of this. He’s just an amazing offensive character and at times a great defensive character as he can literally walk out of pressure or teleport out of it.

    • @LeeZard27
      @LeeZard27 Месяц назад +1

      Guile is super well equipped and masterfull at smacking him silly if you're a bit ballsy and know what you're doing. You can shut down the ground fireball game with Guile's own set. You can eliminate the demon flip with any anti airs if you read correctly. Shut down the air Zanku with FKs or well timed medium/OD sonic blades (the still versions just a bit outside of mid range), or a well timed slow outgoing one if gou are further away. His floating state on recovery guarantees he will always fall on them. You can troll harder by pushing out an OD sonic boom/sonic hurricane if you have the resources and the timing down. There is also a perfectly timed jump in that allows you to avoid the downward trajectory of the fireball (as long as it's not OD), and catch him on landing to smack him stupid with a combo of choice in a punish counter state. It took me some time and lots of beatdowns to figure out how to litterally troll this asshole, but I've eventually come out to make it a science! Cardinal rule when playing Guile is: No mashing! No Yolo! Figure out their grooves and paterns (you'll be surprised to see that outside of pro players and Master Rankers, they all do exactly the same things the same way), vary your own options so as not to become predictable, then send them packing.

    Practicing this is great and all, but the problem with this move is part of a larger reason as to why SF6 isn't a great game. No special move should have plus frames. If I block a special move, I should always be able to punish you. That's the drawback of having your move block.This game makes basic blocking irrelevant. You will never consistently be able to defend this move in battle. It's still Akuma's turn after you block it and that's the problem.
