    Thanks! This is all so confusing. I've asked these questions in guitar groups but sadly many guitar players in these groups either don't want to help or they just want to show off how much they know while speaking in overly-technical terms. This was at least simple to understand.
    One remaining question is, can you recommend a good mid-priced (under $500) 1x12 or 1x10, or 2x12 or 2x10 cabinet that would be good for blues, rock, and metal?

    I have a Randall RH100. Which has an output of 8 ohms. I have 2 Peavey 5150 cabinets both are 16 ohms.
    There is no switch of ohms except a knob with LIFT om the left side and GND on the right side. And it has 2 outputs next to that.
    Off course I should put 2 cables in it 1 in the left and 1 in the right. But on what side do I have to put the switch? LIFT?Or GND?

    Hi, what would be the advantage of connecting two single speaker 16-ohm cabinets in the two 8-ohm input jacks vs one single speaker 16-ohm cabinet in the 16-ohm input jack. Would you gain or lose any volume or maybe get a fuller sound. Thanks for the simplified explanation of how to figure how to properly hook up speaker cabinets.

I have an old 70's Traynor Head (only has a single 8 Ohm output) What are my options connecting to a 4x12 Marshall cab if I want to get full use out of it? Is there a safe selector/input combination on the cab to get usage of all 4 speakers? Or is my only option to either re-wire or load with speakers that will total 8 Ohms? Thanks in adavance!

    • @mikemack413
      @mikemack413 2 года назад +1

      To add some more context to this question... I know that as is I can place the selector on stereo and only use either side at 8 Ohms (2x12 at once) giving me 150 watt overhead. My amp head being about 100 watts I know that is more than sufficient. I am really just interested in (safely) hearing the tonal possibilities of all 4 speakers firing at once even though I am nowhere close to the 300 watt overall rating of the whole cab :) Additionally, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always been told it is "okay" to have a higher wattage rating on your speakers, but not the other way around (example: head cranked at 100 watts and speakers only rated at let's say 50 watts. That would blow the speakers and potentially kill your transformer(s)) Is this correct?

    • @RDamps
