Hey, great video I just got this cage for my A7Siii, but I have one issue with it. My thumb does not fit underneath the cage to access the star/stop record button What do you do to start/stop recording?
Thanks! It wont fit from the rear, but you can get to the Rec button with more room from the front. I use my index finger to control the button that way, but you could also program the Shutter button, etc. to control recording if needed.
@@andrewsaraceni Yes but more towards the front at the battery door. The cage has a pin that the depth can be adjusted with the provided tool. I had only found it when I could not get the cage to sit flush with the camera.
Small rig actually updated their half cage to include the side securing point. I have it and it works pretty well. Only complaint is that it is hard to find the right Arca clamp; a lot of the options look a bit flimsy and do not have single-action securing. Also they do not offer a plate to convert the side of the plate to the same dimensions as the bottom to get profile shots with the same quick release clamp.
Yeah, glad to hear the new half cage design is working well. To your point, I think the Arca Swiss mount is convenient for the DJI gimbals since it's built for it, but otherwise I still think standard Manfrotto plates (either the 200PL, or 501PL) are a better fit for most of these cameras.
@@andrewsaraceni That's what I am going to put on the left side, I'll use the aftermarket because it is black and won't stick out as much and attach an arca vice to the 200pl on my monopod so both sides are single action release. will just have to removed the arca to stow the camera in my pack, but by then I'm already done shooting at that spot. Adult legos :)
Nice video. After owning half cage for A7s2 and full cage and L bracket for A7c, i am looking for something for my A7 iv. Brothers me a bit, that it don't have a Nato rail on the top. Definetly a con. Tilta cage has it. And Falcon cage is also interesting. Tnx for the review
Thanks Rajan! The 3667B is newer, basically it uses a single, dual sided strap mount for different camera types, vs. two separate pieces in the 3667. I talk about this a bit in my a7R V rig build video: ruclips.net/video/9YTd-0xfEK0/видео.html
@@andrewsaraceni thanks for your reply. So the 3667 B is newer and has two cold shoe mounts on either side. (3667 has cold shoe mount on left side top and right top has mounting screw holes?) It also has additional securing screw to tighten near battery door. Right? Rest of the details are same. Is there a seperate and exclusuve clip for Sony A7RV to be screwed through neck strap ring connector? Thank you so much
@@RajanLakule No problem, yeah that's a good summary of the differences. The clips in this video and the rig build one are the closest I have to showing that.
Great question - my friend has one for his a7R V, so I've used it a bit. Basically the same exact cage, other than the additional shoe mount over the shutter button, and the all-models-in-one side screw piece. My rig build video talks about it a bit more: ruclips.net/video/9YTd-0xfEK0/видео.html
A noob question I want to ask. I have Sony A7iv and a Joby 5k Gorilla pod. I wish to buy a Full Cage for my camera but will I be able to use it together?
It should have a 1/4"-20 mounting screw for the Gorillapod, so yes, you would just screw that into one of the 1/4"-20 mounting points on the bottom of the cage.
My big issue with cages is they release a model when camera is released. You spend the money and after 6 months or so they the cage you really want, like this one 😄.
It doesn't have an Arca Swiss mount on either side, so technically "no". But, obviously with something like a ball head mounted to the bottom, it'd be fine.

Great video but missing adjustment of the locating pin near the battery door
Thanks, do you mean the one on the bottom right near the memory card door?

No problem! There's a lot of a7 IV cage options to choose from, but it's definitely a model worth considering.
Hi Andrew, nice video. What is difference between 3667 and 3667B? Which one is newer? Thanks

@@andrewsaraceni The a7rv has a center lock button for the PASM dial. Does the cross bar of the cage hinder the turning of the dial?
@@stkuj No, you can still get to the center lock/dial without any issue, the crossbar basically sits in front of it.

haha For sure, yeah it's a waiting game with cages to end up with the "best" one for any model, usually.
I Have The First Original A7 Will This Cage Still Fit ?
No, the older bodies are a fair amount smaller. You'd definitely need a specific cage for that body style.
Is this cage can be mount vertical? Cant find the answer.

@@andrewsaraceni its for a RS3 gimbal portrait mode with the A74, so the half cage will do then, thanks
Hey, I enjoy watching your videos! Are you in audea btw?
Thanks! I'm not currently.
Sony 7s3 small ring case suitable for 7m4!??
Yes, it works fine with both of those cameras.
