so funny, growing up, my dad hated explicit rap and would sometimes take me and my brother's albums away and not give them back... Years later, cleaning out the family garage, and my dad had a Too Short album stashed away, rofl. Album was "Short Dog's in the House". I think out of all rap albums I have, that album has the word BITCH the most times in it rofl. Anyways just cool that my dad was a low key Too Short fan. hehehehe

Well what the heck happened to Jon Connor then? He was one of my favorite rappers to listen to during the first half of the last decade. But then he got with Dre and it seemed like his style just completely changed. Then he apparently fell all the way off the map. Don't get it wrong though. I've always been a fan of Dr. Dre, but it was disappointing seeing an artist that was putting out so much good content all of a sudden disappear just as it seemed like he was finally about to make it big and possibly blow up.

That's not the reason it hasn't come out lol... Trust me, if the album was "supposed" to come out anytime from 08-12, it's not getting vaulted because he thought a divorce was on the horizon within 7-9 years.
Multiple musicians who worked on it, and multiple who are still close to Dre, or were close to Dre, have all roughly given the same reasons. He is his worst critic, he has to live up to his reputation and track record, and he is essentially now forced to deal with an unreasonable expectation, and he likely fears it's not reachable.
It's kind of like Andre3000, he took a break, and now he doesn't want to put something out, because the public is going to expect some god tier shit and he knows it. He still writes and pens shit out, but we will never see an album from him/Outkast again with equal contribution on his part. There's a couple RUclips vids with him, Rubin, and em that explain all of this better, but they are essentially prisoners of their own mind, and the public expectation is at the absolute maximum.
That's one of the reasons why both Dre and 3K have said em is insane for still making full albums. He truly loves it, and every single album after 08 is held up to to his previous work, which is a joke as he is in a different state of mind, different time in life different environment, and the average listener has wildly different views on rap, add that all up with the automatic hate he now gets, and I'm surprised he still puts shit out.
Detox will only come out if Dre has a complete change of mind, or if when he passes, he doesn't have it blocked in his will from ever being released.
Plus there's at least 30 different songs that people have mentioned that were possibly for detox, from all sorts of rappers, not a single person knows what Dre picked or would pick for the track list. We are never seeing that shit come out.

It's so good that he had the opportunity to work with and be broken down by Dr. Dre. The irony is that the public hasn't heard the dopest verse he claims he ever spit. I don't even care that it was only dope because dre kept breaking it down and putting his flavor on it. Truth is, if dre held my hand through 16 bars I could do the same. All in all I'm just disappointed that no one has heard it. It would've been dope to hear short actually spit 🔥.

i remember travis scott saying he was the king of hip hop drums, i then listen to one of his albums and that was just generic drum patterns with generic drum shots, another auto proclaimed genius that got kids believe it lol. He got dope visuals for his music though thats the placebo effect for most of this new gen rappers, dope visuals, and less than mediocre music
