BL, you got it going on strong with this podcast... In super stoked you got the call up to go to Paris although I know you'd rather be Tahiti broadcasting. Good up on ya 🤙🏼
Your spot on, and it was nice to see some of the competitors start to take some advantage of that end section in Tahiti. I don't think it's going to take 10 years for it to incorporate some type of are maneuver or big slash big hook turns off the top 🤙🏼
Gabby's performance was something else. That bomb that he didn't make (so close!) was , for me, the highlight of the event even though he fell. He pushed the limit so hard. It was sick! I don't know how there are people who still question his talent.
@@barton_lynch Agreed, but I'd prefer an Expression Session Format like the original Expression Session of '70, '71 and '72 with the surfers voting on who really surfed it best.
Great show fellas! I agree the scoring for WSL needs a little creativity of some kind. They should hire you as a consultant BL to help them develop it! A little "Shootout" style, above 10 mojo infusion couldn't hurt them.
The first wave Gabriel surfed against John is the best surfed wave I've ever seen on the WSL. Too bad he fell off after doing all of the impossible hard work.
@@barton_lynch Not sure why you didn't use the event & the footage to create a longer video. I was looking forwards to your in-depth commentary on the event.
@@BarbarraBay Yeah we shot the Tahiti and Vaihiti episodes at the same time and they were to be 1 episode but in the end PK thought it best we split them so we did but thats the reason why the tahiti ep is a little thin. Thanks mate
Barton, WSL has turned the corner with a revised boardcast commentary that speaks to surfers instead of trying to woe a new audience thats knows nothing about the sport. Talking of judging and deserving scores is entirely why we watch it live, the gag is lifted. Finally. Whilst I've come to accept the mid season cult as a fairer means to allow the cut surfers to equality. The Final 5 hardly rewards the best surfer of the season only that one on the day, and completely destroys the purpose of having a tour. WSL needs to refocus its core vision, it's rescheduled season killed the Triple Crown which was regarded as the Hawaiian Champion and one equal to the World Champion. WSL and ISA have entirely different audience and appeal, and the Olympics at Chopes will transform the sports appeal but only if the wave gods deliver. Holding thumbs.
We got everything crossed for Olympic waves of consequence too mate, and I feel like we deal most days with the impact of WSL's push and selling of surfing to non surfer market but not educating them on the line up etiquette, things are out of control at certain breaks on certain days. Thanks for watching.
Awesome show lads.. keep up the good work 🤙
Thank you mate, appreciate you watching.

Yeah I dont get it either, I am such a big fan.
it would be so good to see the Brothers Slab tour. Jon, Nate and Ivan killing it around the world.
Yeah for sure or even a proper slab tour would be amazing

@@michaelyapp6099 Yeah me too 100% agree on this.

Yeah definitely could do with a revamp and some experimentation around new tech etc, I have a heap of ideas.
To PK: I'd also suggest for us older guys an Arakawa 7'0"x19.5" Stun Gun or 7'0" Rawson HC+. Fast, good paddlers and still plenty maneuverable.
EPIC MICHAEL THANKS FOR SHARING THAT WE LOVE ERIC
Hey PK, stoked to see you getting shacked than you filming others in the green room.
Yeah I was stoked for him too, bit jealous but stoked.
Ray of fucking sunshine
Thank yeeeew
Not into comps myself but is that stokes you go for it. I guess you won't be getting a Manscape sponsorship soon stoked bloke.
haaa no manscaping going on here mate just getting wild around the edges ha, thanks for watching.
