What kind of people witness a 3 year old child alone on a wilderness trail and just let him keep on going on by himself?

What really angers me about this case is that the fishermen allowed a small child to walk away, with no sign of anyone with him. THAT in itself is odd and makes me wonder about their possible involvement...

What kind of people see a 3 year old walking in a remote wooded area, all by himself and do nothing to stop him? How closely did police look into these men? That is not the way most people would have reacted to a lone, wandering child. Not even in a public location, much less a forest, and raises red flags.

I can't imagine seeing a 3 year old walking alone in the forest and not try to return the child to their parents. There is no way I could do that. How can an adult not know a 3 year old child can't take care of themselves, anywhere, much less in the woods?

hi my name is Tony I am a veteran of 30 years military service, so over the years I have see and witnessed many, many unreal sights. Not service related. The one I cant forget is, while on exercise in Norway winter training, I was setting up an OP in a Mountain region, I cant give you the areas as they are still used today, loose lips etc. As a hunter you have witnessed winters, a normal winter in Norway is as you would expect 30 foot snow drifts, access by ski and snow shoes only, short days and long nights. and after 13 winters in the area I was I thought winter trained. So the area was rough and hard going and from the drop off point to the OP was around 6-10 klm depending on the rout you planed to take, I had already conducted a recce, previous to the move so I was quite happy that I had selected the best rout for my team. We had to go through a woodland area followed by a steep incline across a small plateau and up to a rocky outcrop overlooking a valley. As we arrived at our Op we started to get into a routine, set up op Rv in rear sentry locations etc, I was then informed that my radio operator left the spare battery's at the drop off point, after telling him what a bad radio man he was I had no option but to go myself and retrieve them, so I left them with tasks, and being the most experienced in this arena I left. Making good time down hill I followed the tracks to the woodland. When I moved through the woods I came across this clearing that was not there when we came through a few hours earlier i looked behind and the ski tracks of the team were evident, so i was on the right track, BUT the clearing was bathed in sun light, not a flake of snow, but the grass was the greenest I have ever seen and the trees were perfect, beautiful flowers every where, I took my skis off and I had to sit and take it all in, there were goats white as snow with bells chiming so sweet it was hypnotising just grazing as if I was not there, the birds were cheeping at a volume that was so intense that I really felt at home. I was blending in to the clearing I have never felt so at peace before or after that event, ever. I just wanted to stay, I knew this is where I was meant to be, I had no fear no real feelings just a cool calm restful peace coming over me, the a goat bleated and shook me awake I stood up and walked slowly out of the clearing and back into the snow. I retrieved the batteries and made my way back to the Op the more direct rout as I was only carrying my survival pack and the batteries, I arrived at the Op in record time as I wanted everything set up ready to go, the team looked at me and said where the fuck have you been we were just about to report you missing, I sat and told them what had happened, after a fit of laughter and a lot of piss taking I said well look at this, I took my face shield off and my gloves, and the laughing stopped as they saw my tanned skin, I had by my timing only been about 3 hours, as I later found out it was 5 hours, so the rest of the exercise went on without any other incident, and all I wanted to do was show these ass holes what I was talking about but as you have already guessed, used the same trail but no clearing, Also allot more piss taking, can you or have you heard of any other experience like this. I hope you can tell my story as I have a theory that this could be the reason people never return from outdoor walking and camping as in the missing 411. Ta Tony.

+Super muscle... any group of adults doing this, would have been guilty of very irresponsible negligent behavior and they should be charged as such, cause they did not have the father's permission to go on the trail and they should have been holding the childrens hands
to make sure they did not get lost

The fact that you guys found a Rubik's Cube in the area is slightly terrifying. Since its debut in Hungary in 1980, the Rubik's Cube has permeated Western culture in more ways than just as a popular puzzle game. It has become a symbol...the symbol of a puzzle that appears simple until you try and solve it, whereupon you discover it has unexpected complexities and hidden shapes concealed within it.

If I were the fisherman or one of them as I am a fisherman. This beautiful little boy would of never left my side. I'd let him hold my fishing pole while I gathered up my tackle and everything. Hopefully Jaryd got a good bite because I would be right there to help him reel it in letting him get the feel of catching a fish. Then we would go to find his folks. I'd never leave him. It makes me feel sad because I only wish I could of been there for Jaryd!!! I'd never let a child run off from my care in the wilderness or anywhere. My understanding is the caretakers of him were not his folks or relationship. They should of been held accountable and locked up for a good long time!!! Just makes me sick!!!

Bigfoot or not, I dont consider the woods a safe place for small children.
A little thirty pound kid makes dinner for the bear, the wolf pack, the cougar. etc.
Even a smallish animal could do it.
There are hundreds of dangers out there, Sasquatch is only one of them.

As soon as i read that Jaryd was found 500+ feet above where he disappeared, i got a flash in my mind of a documentary i had seen about snow leopards and how they drag goats up near on sheer cliffs more than 500 feet alot of the time, so i thought ''well it must of been something similar to that involving a mountain lion'', but it just does not fit, the only thing that does fit with that is the possible tendency of the cougar to drag the kid up to higher ground for safe keeping as it were, however many things just don't add up such as:
Mountain lions almost always attack the neck of its prey but for that kind of wound there should be at the very least a little blood of the boys sweatshirt which for the picture we see just isnt the case and they tend to leave claw marks on the front or back of their prey which also cannot be seen on Jaryd's sweatshirt, they are also crepuscular, so not out of the question but makes this more unlikely that this was a simple cougar attack. Another strike agaisnt them is that they have a learned behavior called prey recognition which means they do not see humans as natural prey and will not generaly attack unless of severe starvation or in cases where a cougar habituates to humans. With all of these things and more not adding up i just find it impossible that this is a case of an cougar or even bear attack, as for what did happen, well im not in the business of speculating on if there are monsters or aliens stalking people in the parks, i will leave that up to others, but what i do know that this case and many others like it have very strange circumstances surounding them that can not be explained away as regular occurrences in missing persons cases and it is great to see somebody doing some real work on this extremely interesting subject, good on you David and team.

It is surreal to finally see the actual places to the stories I first heard through Mr.Ballen. With this footage the whole storie seems more comprehensive to me as a viewer. Your pictures paired with Mr.Ballens story telling would be hugely popular and could help in terms of attention. I am dumbfounded as to how some theories ppl have come up with despite knowing what this trail/place looks like and demands from hikers. And I think the ppl he came across should get some form of punishment in terms of neglect. It is so sad, poor boy and his poor family...Thank you for doing this Mr. Paulides 💖

It's sad but there are people who do not care enough to get involved. I found a three year old standing outside a video store on a busy Seattle street and there were a group of women close by who did not bother to ask him if he needed help. They were on their lunch hour from work as I asked them do you know this child. They said no and said they wondered about him but did not approach him or talk to him. I went up to the child and took him back in the store and asked clerk to call the police. I explained I found him alone outside on the sidewalk. They refused to call police. I kept asking them as I did not have a cell phone on me. This situation ended in a positive note but there are those who do not care enough to help a lost child.

I remember watching the search going on at that time and the sheriff would call the search teams back at dusk. And I literally cried thinking of that little boy up there alone in the dark. I think quite a few mistakes were made in the rescue operation of that boy. They could have called in the Army " National Guards if they had really wanted to for that search.

That poor little boy, he reminds me of one of my sons when he was his age. I read the case in the book, and seeing and reading this again is more troubling than the first time. Someone or something robbed that little guy of his life. Shame on the authorities who continued to do the wrong thing. Certainly they weren't qualified to be in the positions they were in, and worse case is they were covering things up.

  • @Gallop4Me

The questions in my mind are . . . what is in the parks that is taking these people and just how high does the cover-up go by the parks service? If not for David, none of these disappearances would have been exposed. Money talks (or in this case, it's maintaining silence) and if the public knows about these occurrences, how much money would the parks services lose?

Gotta keep the little ones close when out in the wild *and* in the public..they need us to watch over them closely since they naive to *all* the dangers lurking down the path or around the corner. I feel for the parents, they leave their only child in the care of another adults supervision and they fail to do that one simple little thing.
He was 3 yrs old...every parent knows how toddlers can be. I always kept a close eye even in our own house! They love to investigate, explore and get into things they shouldn't.

Thanks for your making these videos David, and I hope that you continue to do so. One of the most astounding things about these missing persons cases, _is how the general public remains unaware of the huge numbers of people who go missing in the wilderness in similar circumstances_. I myself was unaware of this phenomenon until just one month ago.
The mysteries surrounding these cases are chilling and fascinating, but with the mysteries aside, there is a very real need to educate and inform the public on this issue so they can remain vigilant and aware while hiking in the wilderness (especially with young children).
People need to know what is going on, and take the proper precautions to avoid similar tragedies in the future. Thanks for all the great work you do, David. You're a remarkable guy!

This story makes me so upset. 1st....why the hell would you let someone take your child let alone a 3 year old in the damn wilderness. 2nd ....since his father did why didn't he have someone assign to look after that baby? 3rd why didn't those men fishing stop and call the rangers saying they found a little boy and finally 4th why the hell wasn't the "Christian people" held accountable and 5th I would have called all those church all of the ungodly names I could think of and put hands on them but them again his father needs to hold some type of accountability too for letting his child go out there!

How did he become separated from the party he was hiking with? How much further down the trail after he passed the two fisherman? I haven't purchased the books yet and was curious about some of these facts. I am a solo hiker and have put in thousands of miles of trails in ten different states. People have told me for years that it's dangerous to hike alone, and I thought I knew the risks well. After listening to some podcast interviews with Mr. Paulides I'm not so sure...

The boy's death was attributed to a mountain lion attack, which seems more than a reasonable conclusion. I live in a semi-rural area close by the Cascades and have seen mountain lions just trotting up a two-lane road. At a hotel inside the city of Colorado Springs, I pulled back the curtain on my first floor room window and saw a mountain lion peering at it. My point is that these dangerous predators do venture into more populated areas.
The only thing mysterious about this case to me is the two idiot fisherman who saw a toddler wandering in the woods alone and took no action to assure his safety. What could have been more important than a child very likely at risk? I see them as partly responsible for this tragedy as well as the adults who let the child wander on his own in the first place..

    • @canammissingproject
      @canammissingproject  10 лет назад +57

Purri-Let us correct you. In the first hours after Jaryd was found, the sheriff stated he thought it was a mountain lion, that changed quickly. Jaryd's pants were found inside out. Both of his shoes did not show the torment of four Colorado winters. Nobody believed that Jaryd's shoes could've made it up the mountain if he was dragged by a predator (they were untied on his feet). Allyn Atadero took the clothing that was recovered to three different mountain lion experts, each stated that a mountain lion did not kill his son. There was a large number of hairs found on Jaryd's clothing, the Colorado bureau of Investigation could never identify these and then subsequently destroyed them. No, a mountain lion did not kill Jaryd.

Canam Missing Project Sorry, but this one I'm not buying as a mysterious disappearance. Too many adults were too cavalier about a toddler wandering alone in a wilderness area for there NOT to be a bad end to the boy's story. Turning this into something paranormal is a great way to both justify inaction and engage in denial about parental responsibility. I'm sure the parents were devastated, as much for his loss as for their not taking seriously how dangerous was the environment in which they let him go off on his own. I'm firmly convinced this death is the result of a predator (they will prey on little kids, who look and behave like small game). There are other disappearances that are baffling, but this just isn't. You can't build a case on this one.

Because of that, If I ever were to see a small child, out and about alone I'd never ever just ignore it. I can't help but wonder if that cube was left by someone involved, trying to say to authorities or maybe you, that it's a puzzle, and you have to figure it out. David you are possibly the only one person that can. I believe one day you will discover facts that will give many victims families the closure they seek. Everytime I hear of Jarods story, it hurts my soul for his father. I just recently subscribed to your RUclips channel. Do you have an email? I live close to, hike, and hunt Bankhead National Forest, Black Warrior WMA, I would like to ask some questions. Thanks Rodney S.

A rubik's cube? Is that some kind of sick joke? You find the spot his remains were discovered, and "it" leaves a puzzle for you? Is that symbolic? It's as if this evil being is messing with us all even more. Creepier than sh*t.

There seems to be an intelligence behind these disappearances, but it's as if the abductor(s) are ambivalent to their crimes. Anything capable of killing children has no normal human sense of right and wrong. Great observation regarding the Rubik's Cube. Why does it show more weathering than the shoes? It's as if the cube was there first, and the clothes were left later. Weird doesn't even begin to describe these cases.

    • @marcrigor6423
      @marcrigor6423 10 лет назад +9

MyworstEnemy Well someone could have simply left the cube to symbolize how difficult and puzzling this case is; and at the same time also leave a toy for the child (common at cemeteries).

Marc Rigor Good point Marc. I didn't look at it from that angle. Do you have a theory on what or who is responsible for these abductions? My ideas are mostly in vain because I'm not an outdoorsman. There could be a hundred things I'm overlooking due to my lack of knowledge regarding these areas.

I work at big retail store, and I find many MANY little ones alone. Pretty much 8/10 times, no joke! I even carried a 2 year old to our guest services and stayed with him for about 12 mins. A 2 YEAR OLD. What right minded person or parent doesn’t keep an eye or even look for their child in that amount of time! We found the mother and she was super oblivious to what was going on, no care, no worry, no tears or fright. I told my head of security if that happens again, cuz I know it will, I will adopt him. It has happened 2 more times in the last month with him. So how the hell does 2 grown men, in the wilderness not even think, wow where is this kids parents? Is he ok? Or even ask him questions about where his parents are. I hope they feel guilty

One thing that puzzles me is the last people to see him alive did not stop a little boy wandering in the middle of nowhere and they never thought that was not normal, well if that was me somewhere like that and seen a very young child on there own,I would strait away stop him and ask him what's he doing ect, and where he was found he must of been taken there by someone or something,so to me this looks like a murder case and the last ones to see him alive need further investigation that's my bet.or have I got this all wrong any more info on this please tell me.

Dr gunsmith , it wasn't the adults fault , there is too many cases and very mysteriously . I would like to contact david and let him know what I saw in the skys of iran when I was 10 years old and I should it to my aunt who was a docter from Germany and my mom too , we couldn't make out what it was , like a black dot in the sky , it wasn't anything recognizable and we didn't know what it was , and the sun was setting in the after noon . it was still day . I am talking about 40 years ago before any Hollywood films , when not too many people even had color tv . I know what I saw .

They say there is no Bigfoot sightings in Hawai'i but I was born and raised for 23 in Hawai'i and tend to disagree. A friend of mine works for the Park Preserves out there and doesn't even like to hear about Sasquatch, Bigfoot or KAUPE. Kaupe is a half man half dog and you can Wikipedia this Dave P who lives on Oahu and whenever I mentioned Bigfoot or asked my buddy if he's seen anything while alone at night or during the day he would throw salt and wave a ti leaf. He said yes but refuses to talk about it and said just talking about Kaupe or hearing about it can bring him about. Then he said Everytime bigfoot, Sasquatch or Kaupe is even mentioned he would see shadows in his periferial vision while on duty. Kaupe is Half man half dog who was a cannibal in Hawaii and people till this day claim to see him. He claims it's a Guardian of the forest.

I'm an enrolled member of the Lakota. In our hills, we have tall man roaming our reservation. I ran away from him in the bottoms when I was 14 & he grabbed me, but only grasped my head/hair as I swooped up out of the bottoms. Where he grabbed me, I have ONLY grown WHITE hair there since. I'm now 47 & have dark brown hair with a white patch in only a teeny tiny little spot.
On another note, since I was little I knew my people are star people. Since our earliest ancestors, our people have ALWAYS known WE-our tribe- come from the stars. Our beliefs are based upon star knowledge. We came from the stars and emerged out of Paha Sapa, the Black Hills.
I can tell you all I personally know Skinwalkers, you know...shape-shifters...but WOULD you believe me?

RIP Jaryd. I live in Denver and remember this most heartbreaking case. It was suspicious that it was so readily accepted that a mountain lion could've possibly taken Jaryd that far. I never bought that.
I remember feeling angry that a group that large could've let a little boy out of their site. But even more incensed to learn two men had an encounter with him, & thought NOTHING of stopping a little boy in the mountains alone and rendering aid to him!!

Can you tell me more about the star people? It would help me a great deal in understanding a dream I've had. I have searched for a long time and can't find anything. My paternal ancestors were native american but an east coast tribe. I've had several mythical dreams that involve natives and native myths (their epic in nature) and cannot find one that fits. 'star people' is intriguing because my dream involved a father or God figure who in fact came from the sky. he was a star and huge\giant like warrior. I would appreciate any help. I've had numerous other dreams with the same epic quality but this one fascinates me.

+tammy w Come on Tammy, everyone knows this is a fabricated story and the reason the fishermen have not been investigated is because law enforcement and rangers are involved in the cover-up. It's amazing that no one has published their names, and even more amazing that anyone believes them and hasn't bothered to investigate their backgrounds and day-to-day lives. There's a cover-up, it's ritual murder and it goes right up to the puppeteers that control the US government and to whom the control of the US military has been lost.
      Just sayin' ;)

and a side question. I'm not sure if it was ever asked or answered .
has anyone ever checked into the victims blood types? are the RH neg or RH positive?
also those who returned, where in society are they today? working? productive? married etc. and lastly, have they ever exhibited strange behavior? odd habits, strange cravings ect?

Definitely strange, so unfortunate and disturbing. A remote area which is extremely difficult to get to, and yet there are his shoes, in good condition. Nothing adds up. A predator would mean shredded clothing and no shoes, possibly just one shoe. Bone fragments, something, there would be evidence. Could it be hermits in the woods doing this, I don't know. If this was some unknown savage beast (werewolf/angry bigfoot) there would still be evidence of that, they wouldn't carefully put his clothing there. The rubiks cube suggests that that particular spot may be a dumping ground for who or whatever is collecting the items from the victims. 24-7 audio recorders and cameras should be watching that area.
