    (Information in this video and other videos comes from the Denver Airport website, Wikipedia, Flightaware, Airframes.org, Planespotters.net, Google Earth, Airline Route Mapper, and other sources.)
    Here is a tour of Salt Lake City International Airport's 5 concourses. The mountain views outside are amazing -- the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen outside an airport. SLC may look very different in 10 years as they're planning to largely rebuild the airport, which means that many of the current concourses (or all of them) may be demolished. Hope you enjoy!

      Look up Provo Canyon videos on RUclips and it will take you on a Scenic drive of our Stunningly Beautiful and Gorgeous Mountains here in Utah... I was born in Salt Lake City Utah
      And Provo is about 40 miles away...
      I think you'll enjoy the video

    Went to fast to really read the words
    plus enjoy the video..
    I have not been to
    Salt Lake City International airport
    since 1979
    I was a frequent flyer from 73 to 79 to visit my Grandmother in Canada
    In the Summertime
    for a couple of weeks each year
    and it looks like the airport has really changed in some ways
    and not really changed in others
    Thank you for the Video

    I flew IAH-SLC-TUS for a Christmas visit to see family,my CRJ-900 arrived at the B gates and I transferred to the E gates for my CRJ-200 hop down to TUS--during my walk to my connection,I too was awed by the mountains and surprised that apparently is no shuttle bus between the concourses at opposite ends.

    The airport was built in the 60's but has a 80's-90's vibe to it. It's definitely outdated, and I'm glad they're building a new one. But, I'll definitely miss this one.

      I flew this airport 40 miles from my home in the 70s when I was 12 years old
      until about 1979
      it was such a fun airport but that's than you used to have to walk out onto the tarmac to get up on your plane
      especially Western airlines which I always flew which is now Delta
      it was at the end of the seventies that they let you walk out on that accordion type hallway to get on the plane
      I think it was funner to go out and climb the stairs to get in ur plane...now it seems so frightening with all the troubles in the world but I hope to fly again someday

      I took my first flight at 12 years old flying to Great Falls Montana on my way to Canada to stay for a couple of weeks each summer I was scared to death but the people were so very nice I would say just get there early that's the keyand talk to everybody you can along the way that works there that pertains to your flight and ask questionsI'm sure it has changed so much since 1979 I really wouldn't even know where to begin to advise you how I would like to say is enjoy your flight it's been forty years since I've been on a plane

      Terminal 1 formerlyconcourse A and B are mostly for United,Southwest,American,Alaska. Terminal 2,gates CD and E for exclusively Delta and KLM. There is moving walkways between the terminals. There is a light rail that can take you from downtown to the south edge of terminal 1. The redevelopment of SLC will be completed in about a year from now.

      Thanks for watching! Quite a few folks have asked me to do a tour of BOS. I basically just try to get a video of each airport I visit, and I've only been to Boston once in my life. If I go back I'd certainly like to make a BOS tour! :-)

    • @Theyoshifan200
      @Theyoshifan200 9 лет назад

      How do you make these tours? Do you have time in between connections? Or do you just enter very early into the airport before your flight leaves? I'm curious.

    • @KBurchfiel
      @KBurchfiel  9 лет назад

      I generally do them on a connection. In SLC it only took me about an hour to visit all 5 concourses. Otherwise I like to get there early. Sometimes I like to do a tour after I land, but only if I don't have any bags to check.

    • @Theyoshifan200
      @Theyoshifan200 9 лет назад

      That's cool! I still hope you can try BOS.

    • @Pilotwill56
      @Pilotwill56 9 лет назад

      The problem with touring BOS is that you would have to leave the terminal and then go through security each Time you change concourses because there is no tram connecting the terminals

  • @bobbypaluga4346

    I thought I had entered a museum to 1960’s-1970’s aviation when the cab dropped me off but a cop reassured me that while SLC has no amenities and hasn’t been upgraded since the early 1970’s, it is in fact Salt Lake City international. I know Utahns are notorious for their cheapness, but to let its competitors PHX, DEN, SFO go through a number of modernizations while they just got older, afraid to spend a dime on the state’s greatest source of income seemed nuts. They have had many new airport renderings that went no further than the planning stage, we can hope that they are serious with the latest plans

    • @KBurchfiel
      @KBurchfiel  7 лет назад +3

      Hey now, who needs a modern terminal when you have those gorgeous mountain views? ;) On a more serious note, Wikipedia reports that SLC "is financially self-sustaining," and that it's "the only major airport in the country with no outstanding debt." So that deserves some respect. Thanks for watching!

    • @bobbypaluga4346
      @bobbypaluga4346 7 лет назад +1

      Of course SLC has no debt, they haven't spent a nickel on any upgrades in my lifetime. BTW- What's wrong with debt? If improvements more than pay for themselves in new revenues, the debt load in these days of 1.5% to 3.5% municipal bond interest rates, your'e follish not to improve your airport. Do you want to get into the new DEN and the semi-new PHX comparisons with the old worn out shoe of US airports, SLC? Do you think either city regrets building infrastructure despite the additional debt?

    • @KBurchfiel
      @KBurchfiel  6 лет назад +1

      It's ultimately up to the taxpayers of Salt Lake City and/or Utah. They'll be paying for the improvements, not me. And honestly, I didn't think the terminals were that bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • @travisdejong2354
      @travisdejong2354 6 лет назад +2

      Everything you see in this video will be demolished to make way for a brand new airport that taxpayers will not have to pay for because the airport is sitting on so much cash.

      JMMT7022801 you're sure about that? i guess our airport is kinda boring but the entire airport will be gone by 2020, part of Concourse and much of the roadway has already been reconfigured. one parallel terminal with two large concourses (.9 miles each) separated by the airfield
