Honestly, I'm surprised the EV manufacturers don't require the battery packs to be returned to them to be properly refurbished or disposed of. The battery packs have become one the most dangerous and destructive components in the automotive industry!
Owned a wrecking yard for many years. (Before EVs were common.) First thing we did was pull the wet cell batteries out. We would palletize them and haul them in weekly. With the dangers associated with these new EV batteries, I wouldn't want one sitting in the car while in my lot.
I am really looking forward to your insurance auction vid. I have toyed with trying to get an auction car for rebuilding. But the auction fees and then the hassel of registering a rebuilt car just keep lurking over like a dark cloud.
Then that means you need chemical fire retardant to deal with lithium fire. Or sand. Water from the fire department will be quite literally feeding the fire.
When people buy an electric car, the only thing they think about is how cheap they are to run. They don't take into consideration the cost of replacing the battery pack when it gets to the end of its life and needs replacing.

The insurance companies will keep doing this until a major lawsuit has settled. It’s a game of numbers for them.
that front drive unit looks small enough to fit in the classic mini you got a while back (I hope that is the other project)

Good morning everyone Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
When that happens, lift it up a bit and slide fast food trays under the tires. Comes off the truck real fast. Lol
This will continue until there is a law in place about it.
Yea fires happen after the car is picked up the wrong way....
Love your builds Dave! Can't wait to see what you throw this in. Hybrids are super cool.
nice work, looking forward to seeing more!
That Tesla sure was mangled. Hope you got enough parts from it to make it worthwhile buying it.

my first thought - where's the car? ;D
Is there another video about this project? I looked and don't see anything on the x.
