I'm quite impressed by how the original varnish held up over those 80 years; not nearly as discoloured as I thought it might be, but evidently better for having been cleaned.
What an honour to work on the Hay Wain, Paul. I can imagine a few famous works have benefitted from your skills and knowledge.
I can't imagine what it's like to be fiddling with the surface of one of the most beloved paintings in the country.
