I've only tried it a couple times, feels really weird grabbing for the head. If you have any other tips to help with the entry that would be very helpful.

It’s definitely a learning process. My best tip would be to drill the entry but focus on developing your base from there. It can be tricky. Base is going to be the most important thing

Hi Professor-We miss your videos! Hopefully you will be back soon. I have a question on the butteryfly sweep. I am somewhat tall - 6'3" - and when I get 1/2 butterfly, I am having trouble finding the "sweet spot" of when to sweep. For example, when the person is sitting a little back, or when he is smashing me, I am not sure when I know if I am deep enough under his hips to try the sweep. Many times, I try it and I don't have the leverage to lift him or I am too far "away" and it is easy for him to "ride my leg." Do you have a recommendation of a good "trigger"? For example, what should I feel or what should I look for in terms of body positioning? Is there a "spot" where I know I can launch v. where I should know not to sweep? THANK YOU!!

Hey man! I will be back soon! Promise! With that said, you ideally want to sweep him when his weight is over head if you’re being smashed. His butt off of his heels. If your opponent is more upright you want to sit up into them and do a more traditional style of butterfly sweep. Hope this helps!!

Do you find that drilling on the Smarty or just dummies in general over the years has made it easier for you to pull off these moves during your rolls?
