INCREDIBLE how closely the tone of the JonBenet Ramsey ransom note matches the tone of this part of the movie. Terrifying in how close it matches the wording of the note. Absolutely tragic the case couldn't be solved for poor little JonBenet's sake.
Danny Devito is SO good is this. What is amazing to me is his ability to play a really great heavy despite his diminutive size. (He's like 4' 10") He just commands the screen with the sheer force of his personality. You never doubt him for a second and he pulls this one off wonderfully.
Judge Reinhold is one of the funniest actors ever. Since seeing him in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, his comedic incredulousness always put me in stitches.
I need to get this movie! The look on Danny's face was absolutely priceless. He's a man who wanted to kill his wife... but then some kidnappers decide to hold her for ransom. The look of 'holy shit! I can have my wife killed AND completely get away with it!' on his face is the most priceless thing ever!

""Don't try to grow a brain" was from the movie Speed. The other two phrases I'd have to look up from Dirty Harry and the movie Ruthless People with Danny Devito.

Someone who wrote that note knew this movie well. The note started out "Listen Carefully" and it went on almost just like the movie clip here!

Many years ago, I had a boss who acted and looked exactly like DeVito in this movie. It actually was pretty freakin great. (Did I fail to mention that if I had my choice to have a freebie with any celebrity, Danny DeVito would be it. No question.) He is gorgeous in this.
Don't you notice that Bette Midler always did Movies where she had Bad Husbands. This Movie, and The First Wives Club not to mention The Movie with Woody Allen. Michael Douglas also had bad relationships and marriages with Women.

god the cast in this film was perfect. Watching DeVito's face start to glow when he realizes that he can get rid of Barb is hilarious!
I love the subtle change of expression on Danny's face as it dawns on him that he won't have to murder his wife.....
