- This might have been my favorite landscape photography trip in recent memory. In this episode, I explore abstract landscape photography with my telephoto lens. I also shoot the incredible Utah Badlands from an aerial perspective with my drone. I really hope you enjoy the video! This place is truly a playground for photographers and intimate compositions. Great work at the Factory. It is a magical place at sunrise. Drone work is actually way better than down to Earth camera work in that spot.

The drone shot panos are my favourite images. The telephoto shot with the pronghorn antelope looks great as the animals give it scale and a sense of context.
The abstracts are good to look at, the patterns are interesting and make me think about how rugged the landscape is there. It's a dry area so must be a lot of wind erosion. Very beautiful place for photography. Thanks for sharing your lovely images.

In the photograph at 8:56, I see houses, mud huts and Scottish castles with lots of turrets. All formed out if the ridges and disproportionate in scale to each other. Some really nice images in this video

I love the first drone abstract shots and the ones of the side of the mountain the most.i love the way you find patterns in the most normal, day to day scenes. I try that a lot myself too
Thanks Tessa, its one of my favorite things to do! Also many trips I do have clear or overcast days. I actually have a new video coming out soon about taking photos with blue sky days.

When that happens I tend to go for abstract or reflections. Just landed in hanksville and took my first trip out to see the butte and scout and blown away! can't wait to see what i can shoot here.
Fantastic images, Michael! As a Utah native now living in the Northeast, these images made me very homesick. As far as my favorite image is concerned, it was difficult but I have to go with the pronghorn antelope shot. Great composition and lighting.
Wow! Love all the images in the video, but the last one is my favorite! The western USA and Canada are on top of my travel list when this 'worldwide situation' ends... hopefully next year!

That was indeed incredible! Gorgeous shots! I tend to favor the vista pano shots from the drone, but some of those straight down shots and rock wall (especially the one with faces) were just... gorgeous!

Beautifully narrated Michael! Love the drone shots but the level of detail and mood of the telephoto shots does it for me. Gorgeous! would be interesting to see some BW conversions and play with the contrast and D&B some of those ridge patterns in the rock.

I've recently being getting a bit burnt out on the RUclips photography scene so it's nice to find a channel that focuses on the abstract side of landscape rather than the usual sunsets, mountains n rivers n stuff.

Great video, Michael. Loved the photography and the location. For 12 minutes, I forgot that I was stuck in the snow at home. I bought a Mavic 2 Pro almost two years ago now specifically for photography. I've amassed maybe 20 minutes of flight time with it. Videos like this keep me from selling it (though I really need to practice using it or it doesn't matter).
Wow, that first drone pano was a jaw dropper!!! But I pretty much loved all the images. The pronghorn shot was a bit different for you and I really enjoyed it.

The drone footage is simply intoxicating. (Of course your stills are outstanding, as as always.) I acquired a high quality drone four months ago but got quite busy with commercial photo work and it has been sitting here since, with just one first time effort to take it up. Went into the desert across from my place. Hardest aspect is seeing the camera's view using my phone in bright NM sunlight. Haven't worked that issue out yet. Thanks for this great vid.
