I'll be honest: my main reason for getting the game was the ship designer. It was creative and fun to experiment with, but the campaign and battles really fell short for me. They felt poorly designed and unfun to play, which made it hard to stay engaged with the game. On top of that, the way the developers handled feedback and criticism from the community was pretty disappointing. While I’m not particularly upset about the studio being shut down, I do genuinely hope the developers can land on their feet and find new jobs to support their families.
Yeah, exactly this. Although I will say that the video that convinced people to buy into the early beta had movable hull sections, which they then scrapped, even though that's at the root of a lot of other problems with the designer. It always felt like you were trying to shoehorn your components onto a hull, rather than design a hull to carry your components - especially the ones with stepped decks or immovable parts you have to awkwardly work around and still keep your ship balanced. As I understand it, the reason they killed a feature that they sold to players was because the AI designer couldn't handle it. Frankly, the AI designer couldn't handle shit, and after many, many years it's still not much better. I recall starting a very long-running Clown Car thread of awful AI designs on the forum, which apparently pissed Nick off so much he actually locked it at one point. That was the problem with this game in a nutshell. Many people were suggesting from the very beginning of open beta that they move to a pre-designed, fixed set of templates for each hull, which the AI could choose and customise to a limited extent without placing everything itself. Instead the devs chose to stick with a broken system and throw the players under the bus. And it wouldn't be the last time a feature got canned or compromised because the AI couldn't handle it. Look, the game industry is in a shit place right now, and I do hope the devs who've been laid off find places to go soon. But I also hope that they might learn to shelve their egos and recognise a little more the value of a community that's desperate to help them.
If only we can start modding new features in. A task force designer at the start of Battles and better control over what the country actually does is SOOO NEEDED.
One of the things holding me back with UAD is the fleet organization / encounter system. But it does seem like it would be a can of worms to try and mod that. I would love to have designated and named fleets and squadrons that stay together, more or less.
A real shame about the studio, definitely did not enjoy reading that. It didn't feel like the game was truly where it needed to be. I look forward to what the modders can do. If anyone remembers that game, Stonehearth is in a very similar situation where the devs said "we're done! Take it or leave it." and pushed out a version of the game with a lot of features not implemented and modders formed the ACE mod to bring it to where it should have been and they are still at it, with the last github update to the project being today. I really don't want this game to die and I wish all the people involved a quick improvement to their employment situation.
Not entirely correct about Stonehearth - the team behind that game were bought out by another studio and told you have 3 months then you're all shifting to this new project - off you go. So they crammed as much as they could in and some of that old team are still supporting the ACE crew as of recently. Not sure if thats changed.
I'm just happy this game saw the light of day at all, knowing the player base and modding community will keep it alive is even better. Shame about the studio however...
But without being able to make new hulls and parts, does the game have a future? Since there's alot of historical hulls and parts that ain't in the game, like Victoria-class pre-dreads, Yamashiro tower and stuff.
I haven't poked at it in a long time now, but I think it's fairly standard unity-esque so adding new models shouldn't be impossible - possibly even fixing existing meshes too. Adding or changing game modes or bugfixing interactions is another matter - not actually impossible in Unity but as the game code was obfuscated ( unlike say, From The Depths which you can just read :p ) then unless they give us all a debug version as a going away gift, injecting new code is going to be a nightmare.
During holidays I had lunch with a mate and conversation somehow got onto RUclips creators who play games, and how stressful it must be to choose which game to focus on - if the game is super popular and everyone is playing and creating on it, you can get lost in the crowd. If the game is not super popular and / or an indie project, it can suddenly go away.
Can't wait to see what hulls modders will come up with. Will we finally get to create submarines or aircraft carriers? Will modders build in a rudimentary aircraft system (not flyable but pick your patrol area and type of plane and *click*).
Funnily enough, every year around Christmas for a couple years now I get the craving for some shippy goodness. This year was no different, and I started a vanilla campaign. It was ... not enjoyable. Then I reverted to 1.6 and gave the DIP v3 BETA a go, and am currentl much happier. The only thing I noted is minor factions being an absolute menace (I play as the German Empire, and was able to get a piece of Norway after it collapsed. Now Sweden CONSTANTLY tried to invade that region, although we're neutral, and I have no way to ever strike back. I can only see my army strengh go down and down and down due to repeated invasions). I'm looking forward to a "classic" version, as each turn takes the better part of 3 minutes, almost all of that time is spent on trying to design new ships and failing, only to try again next turn and fail again. And more factions, makes this take even longer. Would be nice if shipbuilding had some ~3-5 month timeout per faction, just to speed things up a little bit.
Thanks for the update, and thanks for the reassurance of continuing campaigns from you. I have no idea how I would get through a night at work if I didn't have a Brother Mundo video to watch.
@@BrotherMunro that would be great from scratch. I followed the video but still have never been able to get it to load. Many times it tells me the network update needs to be installed that you linked but even installed or repaired I get the same error.
I will continue to watch your development of DIP and your RUclips campaigns with eager anticipation, much as I have for the past 2+ years. However, I will also evidently be one of the few people left who will continue to play and enjoy the vanilla form of UA:D...I put in over 13 hours in the past two days alone. I love this game!!!
I've been following this game since 2019, while I never got to play it, UAD had a special place in my heart, and if this truly is the end, it's borderline somber, here's to hoping the modding community will keep it alive and well.
At this point, I really wish someone would make a game that takes all the good stuff from the various naval games out there. I really just wanna build my own ships and fight other nations’ ships, while making it so that I don’t have to play an excel sheets
What I would love to see is essentially a combination of “War on the Sea” and UA:D, combining the best of both, though I don’t actually expect to see that happening.
I stop playing a year ago when it became impossible to recreate a Iowa class BB without it ending up as a 150K ton BB and having half the historical armor thickness.
It's nice to know that the modders have a bright future ahead... I worry only that modders may not be able to implement carriers in a smooth, stable, and widely agreed-upon way... Not that I don't think they can make them, but that we might end up with multiple competing systems, or have one reach popularity because it was earlier than the rest, rather than the best option. It feels... Perpetually incomplete without them. An evolutionary pressure is absent. A wraparound map though... Yes. YES. Playing as Japan or the US and having to do anything in the Pacific is UNENDING PAIN having to scroll back and forth and back and forth, and it's been driving me insane!
I'm going to be completely honest, I was a late comer to the game (around 1.3) and gave some feedback on the Steam forums that I feel was ignored 90% of the time and the remaining 10% whatever feedback I gave was begrudgingly listened to and I managed to seemingly annoy Nick into permanently banning me because I adopted a negative outlook on the game's development. I am sort of glad that development has ceased for now because I really don't like how the game was constantly tweaked and rebalanced seemingly every week in addition to breaking saves.
Oh, you're the same Kabob in the discussion? I think you're the one who tells how to capture enemy design. Until they patched that out. Kinda wonder why you're not around anymore haha.
@@edhikurniawan It's because I said something that pissed Nick off, specifically in one of the threads where people were asking about the spike in negative reviews around September. I just told people that there's a lot more unaggregated Negative reviews than Positive ones around the time I looked... That's seriously the post that got me a Perma Ban, honestly Nick must have been utterly MALDING at that. I'm banned from the whole Community Hub.
I am glad I clicked this video. I love this game, I have tons and tons of hours into this game. I was always looking forward to what was new. Glad to hear UAD will live on.
Honestly just having a stable game that isn't broken every couple of weeks would be great. I had several good campaigns killed because of how they updated things, and I suspect I am not alone in that
This is kind of what happened to the War on the Sea game, the devs left it (Granted im certain Dreadnaughts & WoTs are very different situations) and now its just left up to the modders to keep the game alive, witch im sure will keep Dreadnaughts living for quite some time, and btw love the Dreadnaught vids hope you can keep em up!
Hey, hope ya had a great holidays, thank you for the update and hard work! I'm enjoying the great game currently! If I could make a request, could ya make Canada its own minor Nation, we did have the 4th largest navy at one point and shouldered a lot of the Convoys in WW2!
@@kylegillard3343 In fairness with Canada as part of the greater British Empire you could roleplay a RCN within the greater RN by designing and building with that in mind and basing certain ships only out of Canadian ports.

Love your work and your vids. Thanks for all you do. I have been sticking with 1.5 vanilla, but there are a lot of aspects of your work I would love to add. My big wish would be for some kind of options menu to toggle adjustments on or off, or a package of small mods to pick from ala carte.
That's why I dont use the DIP. I just play random battles with shared designs testing concepts against each other because I love that, never touched the campaing
What makes me concerned is the developers left this game, half finished.... what does that say about anything these people do with their next titles? They will randomly leave a potentially good game, half finished, over and over again? If that is the case with these people, I think they will fit in good with Ubisoft. point made.
I've always wondered why modders have never made new hulls for the game? I'm not a modder and I have no idea how hard it would be to actually add them into the game but I would just like to know why.
I've sunk about 300h into the game and had lots of fun. Yes, torpedo spamming was annoying, the battles were, too many and too uninteresting in the campaign. The lack of options to task force organize my fleet got, i.e. build squadrons etc. got on my nerves. And, and... but boy, is developing and upgrading your fleet over decades fun. I will continue to play the game and look forward your further content.
I just bought the multiplayer for me and my bf it better not shut down. It's sad for the development of this game but I hope it turns out kinda like star wars empire at war kept alive for a long time by her modders.
One positive to really take away with no more updates his you can put big amounts of time into mods and not have to worry about them breaking like you could really make the mod you wanna make and know that it’s gonna work for hopefully a long time
It sucks that UAD was so horribly mismanaged. Because it’s so unique and had a lot of potential from the start because there aren’t many games like it! But I wish them luck. It IS a great game and I love it but I think it gives an opportunity for someone to claim the game, buy the rights and continue development if they decide to. Also CAN YOU DO AN OTTOMAN CAMPAIGN?!
Not that unike. Like 20 years ago we had Naval Ops: Warship Gunners for Playstation 2 and we were able to make our own ships. The graphics were poor (as a Ps2 was) and we hadn't that lot options like changing the beam and draught and maximum tonnage but you could put up to 100 itens on your ship. There you also had Aircraft Carriers, something at this game is missing.
@ I’ve been around for 21 years and I’ve NEVER seen a game like UAD. So for me it’s really unique. Also this game doesn’t have Carriers for the simple fact it’s based around Battleships
Is there a way to change the model of turrets placed on a Destroyer in-game(while designing)? Instead of a 4.1" turret on my vessel, I could choose the Cruiser and BB models for the German 4.1" gun that looks more badass. (This is more of a question if it is even possible in the game)
Forgive me if i misunderstand how this works and this being a relatively minor thing, but how likely/possible is it to rescale/port turret models to be able to more accurately recreate ships? For example, the L-class destroyers by bringing the secondary mark 5 5-inch british models to be DD main guns, or the Tribals by rescaling the mark 5 3-inch secondaries into 4+ inch DD main guns, or the KGVs by swapping out the later british 14-inch turrets for the spanish 14-inch. sorry for the paragraph and my lack of understanding how modding this game works
Maybe this time when I try to download a mod it will work (comma separated excel file system messes up and ends up with the mod not showing up on the game for some reason).
Once the mod and it's forks are more final we could send in ship designs for all the nations and tech levels for shared designs for the ai to go against. Just have to make sure there aren't any nonsense designs like in the past when people snuck in designs that were just for tonnage, with no guns for example.
oooo three versions of DIP v3? I'm so down. I'm definitely interested in Minor Nations and The Great Game, but more options is never a bad thing. Now I just need to figure out how to have multiple installs of UA:D on the same machine at the same time 🤣
I haven't actually looked into any of the internals, how much can actually be done? Can big UX changes be made in the campaign? Like diplomacy and interdictions and home ports and stuff... Or like in battle, can torpedo runs actually be made to not be mega finicky? Or in general, controlling large numbers of ships feels awful right now, IMO.
Honestly as much as I loved the game in concept and in many ways, I lost interest because of the rapid updates and honestly the lack of sandbox/cheating. One of the main draws for the game was building hyper battleships, cruisers that could show up on your doorstep in under a month, destroyers with more torpedo's than even what the Japanese managed. But the rapid updates made modding, getting trainers, and just in general playing the game a hassle. There were other things like the fleet organization always being a mess or the strange way that ship movement was handled by numbers of men instead of hull count but I could work around those. I hope that things will settle out eventually but at this point I'm half out the door at this point.
I am and will remain (for the time being at least) a vanilla player, however I do like to watch your campaigns mainly because they keep me interested in the game itself. Maybe, just maybe I would be interested in the DIP if it were just a case of clicking on a steam link like so many other game mods and it just works but in it's current installation mode I am not interested. No more updates? That's fine with me because it means no more interrupted campaigns.
Will we be able to get the Dreadnought Improvement Project without using Nexus? Nexus doesn't allow downloading without an account, and I haven't been able to log into Nexus for years.
It's an unfinished game. Can modders improve how land combat works? Can modders change the moronic map with weird borders and zones? Can modders remove the mines/submarines or fix them?
Land combat - maybe Map improvements - again maybe, will need us to get deeper access Subs and mines - if by ‘improve’ you mean ‘remove’ it’s one of the first things I did making the Dreadnought Improvement Project 😂
@@BrotherMunro That's the thing, if deeper access is needed, that may never come... Some games aren't made to be modded from the start. At least the worst cancer is gone with subs and mines. I absolutely despise RNG mechanics that can ruin your game with no player input. Also the ship selection for combat needs to be reworked. All the way back in the 90's there was this awesome game called Great Naval Battles, where you could form taskforces that would engage enemy taskforces together. Imagine, you could actually dictate the composition of your "unit"! You could even direct the taskforces to go to a certain location, instead of a half of an ocean. Madness. Ships really sail randomly in a sea zone and just happen to congregate on a location to have battle. Because why not.
Can I ask and I hope this doesn’t come across as me be demanding or being rude is there a way to add ship models if someone makes them can they be put in the game especially with no more updates that could just make them not be compatible with the current version
Dreadnoughts is dead? Long live the Dreadnoughts. Honestly when I heard the news back last year the second thought that came to my mind was: Finally I can start playing long campaign after the last patch comes because nothing should add game breakers after it.
there was an old mod back in the day made by a person on the forums who made a mod that basically did that. Its been abandoned since v1.09, 2 years ago, and the download link and forums post is gone now that the forums shut down. i might still have it on my old pc, but i probably dont.
@@magnum6763 its sad to hear tbh. My only problem with this game is that shit on mark 4~5 guns. I dont mind a 203mm gun with like 250mm pen at like 15km, a heavy cruiser should take care of a heavy cruiser after all. I just found ridiculous how can a 18 inch gun have such a long barrel that you can shot at 70km away (and even hit). I had this problem on a fight where the AI designed a paper thin battleship with three twin 18.4 inch guns with like 72km AP range and that shit had like 38kn top speed
@@magnum6763 I may have actually used that mod that you are reffering to, as I did play a version about two years ago. The part that came to bite me was...gun advancements... Most Mk-3 and 4 guns will go from rounded turrets to square ones.. and then won't fit about 2/3 of all pre-dread designs... The perfect version of such a mod would give all the bonus of Mk3+ turrets, but never have their shape change.
I enjoyed greatly the work on DiP but ever since the Melon loader became a necessity, ive been unable to play. It refuses to be installed both manually and automatically and the forum now seems to be down as well. Or at least the browser complains about ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH. Q_Q
Quite literally the only downside and disappointment I felt throughout my 200+ hours of gameplay are the unplayably unfair 70-torpedo ships for each and every nation past 1930s in the campaign. There are a few of small questions to the campaign itself, but they're not as gamebreaking as those torpedoes. Let's hope that the modding community of this game would make it as best as they could or as the game itself allows.
Well i hope that you do not burn yourself out on ultimate admiral dreadnoughts and i'm curious whether there are any other games you would want to try playing on your channel. I've definitely been enjoying sea power lately when it comes to naval games. Is that doing well on the channel and are you enjoying it?
@BrotherMunro Massive modding potential for Sea Power. The devs need to put more modding tools and ways for importing models in the game and if someone finds a way of implementing proper armour schemes you could literally play in any era with any kind of ship you could imagine
They are honestly leaving the game in a fairly feature complete state, so I can't say I'm terribly upset. It certainly not like KSP 2 where they took it out back and shot it before it could shine.
UAD is a great game despite it missing a few features here and there. I wish they had put a little more depth into the diplomacy. It gets quite repetitive when the AI nations take forever to ask for a peace treaty, so you end up having to naval invade every single one of their ports to end the war. I might give the DIP mod a try, although as a Linux user it might be a little complicated to set it up.
@@BrotherMunro I am hoping the company will feel some sort of Scandinavian crisis of conscience and at least try to finish the game. Thanks for the soapbox.

@kurgisempyrion6125 that was overly negative of me, yes. The team wasn't as callous as I described them and did the best they could.
I'm just happy this game saw the light of day at all, knowing the player base and modding community will keep it alive is even better. Shame about the studio however...
So glad you will continue with UAD and DIP, Mods will keep this going for a long time I hope.
But without being able to make new hulls and parts, does the game have a future? Since there's alot of historical hulls and parts that ain't in the game, like Victoria-class pre-dreads, Yamashiro tower and stuff.
Well I think with time we might be able to figure it out. Really all we need to figure is how to import new 3D assets into the game
Very much an issue! I’m extremely lucky my Dreadnoughts content proved popular.
I would sincerely consider giving the community the dev tools for the game, if I were the studio.
Drachinifel should start an crowdfounding campaign to acquire the rights to the game and then get you and the modding guy's on board.
I'm happy to see it not end. I'm still in the Brazilian campaign! I never catch up to you.
Can't wait to see what hulls modders will come up with. Will we finally get to create submarines or aircraft carriers? Will modders build in a rudimentary aircraft system (not flyable but pick your patrol area and type of plane and *click*).
@@darrenchapman2786 Werecat claims to have done so already...
Depends on how much we are able to get into the game's files
So like Rule The Waves, where planes are given general orders and can’t be directly controlled?
NO AIRCRAFT CARRIERS.
@@wierdalien1 aww someone scared their precious battleships will get sunk by a few aircraft :(
Funnily enough, every year around Christmas for a couple years now I get the craving for some shippy goodness.
When you get DIP running on 1.7 will you do an install guide for us newbs that want to play it please?
Such guide already exists
Yes, full proper guide :)
@@BrotherMunro that would be great from scratch. I followed the video but still have never been able to get it to load. Many times it tells me the network update needs to be installed that you linked but even installed or repaired I get the same error.
@@BrotherMunrowhere is it if i may ask? the forums seem to be down...
Well, time to make the switch to rule the waves 3
It's objectively the better game, yet I come back to Dreadnoughts and clock way more hours into it for some reason.
@@connycontainer9459The graphics factor and the immersion it gives. It’s a big thing about Rule the Waves
I doubt that could be a mod though, You'd likely need a new game with those features in mind.
I stop playing a year ago when it became impossible to recreate a Iowa class BB without it ending up as a 150K ton BB and having half the historical armor thickness.
Glad to hear the news looking forward to the future
Honestly, the only thing I want in Dreadnoughts is the ability to construct actual historical ships.
No way we can bring carriers in. At least not with our current level of access. As for a wrap around map it is criminal the game doesn't have one!
does this mean no more minor updates breaking my mods and saves?
For now.
Yup!
Thank god!!
Tbh historical gamer was the reason I looked up and joined your channel, wanted more dreadnought content! 😂
Thank you for the update, I appreciate the work you and the others are doing.
So very happy you guys will keep Modding and am looking forward to the updated D.I.P.
Last couple of months there was a fix pretty much every day...
@@azirus Yeah because every new patch introduced more bugs pretty much every day...
@fanis1414 indeed
I am glad I clicked this video. I love this game, I have tons and tons of hours into this game. I was always looking forward to what was new. Glad to hear UAD will live on.
Honestly just having a stable game that isn't broken every couple of weeks would be great. I had several good campaigns killed because of how they updated things, and I suspect I am not alone in that
Thank you for your support in this great game.
In regards to the future of your channel, I am totally up for seeing other content I think as long as it’s content you’re happy with then I’m here
Definitely going to be more variety, got some sea power campaigns lined up and Manor Lords, Space Marine, & Farming Simulator are all set to return
It is normally but it behaves weirdly so I’m making it part of the British Empire 😂
@ haha I won’t argue that, but there goes my Dream of flying my own Canadian QE2 outta Halifax haha
@@kylegillard3343 In fairness with Canada as part of the greater British Empire you could roleplay a RCN within the greater RN by designing and building with that in mind and basing certain ships only out of Canadian ports.
Honestly, it would be amazing if darth got involved with GT:civil war and help them with some of their ingame issues plus work on expanding into future. Its a game just like the mod work he did with TW with far more detail. Its an amazing game that could only get better with his help.
I don't know where Nick is off to next but if I hear anything I'll be sure to say!
So in short. I don't need to worry abut updates breaking the mods anymore? That's a win in my book.
Looking forward to enjoying DIP for 1.7 for years to come!
You asked about Campaign ideas BrotherMunro:
Both are Great Game Mod ones...
I feel as if a Kalmar "I.e. Swedish" Ikea Series would be interesting...
Challenge being to use hulls you don't normally choose, w/ lesser loved gun sizes...
1.6 (40mm Obviously!) 3, 4in. (4.5 or 4.7 maybe) light guns/secondaries
7, 10in. Cruiser Armament
12, 13(.5), 15, 17 in. Capital Ships
Also, a Viking Reclamation all their once raided &/or settled lands:
I.e.: Baltic States, Central Russia, England, Northern Fance, Newfoundland, & Eastern Canada
The other idea is the Dutch Pacific Empire!!!
A Dutch Oceania (w/ Australia & New Zeeland), & Southwest Pacific while Continuing to Survive in Europe.
Bonus Round: Conquer India & the Northeast U.S. (I.e. New Amsterdam), & Guinea (Both) in South America
Congratulations on 20K Subscribers, & Best wishes for you (& your Fam) in 2025!!!
I mean the updates were so frequent that modding was impossible - I think the game is in a good place for modder to do their magic
I think that happened because the game was about to be sunsetted. Will take some time to catch up, and then we can properly get to work ☺️
Perhaps now mods can now add in a pre battle ship deployment screen/phase. Its the main reason I struggle to play this game at all.
Maybe? But that’s pretty far away from what we are able to do currently
Well atleast the people who is making the game better is still here
What makes me concerned is the developers left this game, half finished.... what does that say about anything these people do with their next titles? They will randomly leave a potentially good game, half finished, over and over again? If that is the case with these people, I think they will fit in good with Ubisoft. point made.
I've always wondered why modders have never made new hulls for the game? I'm not a modder and I have no idea how hard it would be to actually add them into the game but I would just like to know why.
We don't know how to get new 3D models into the game. What we can do though is mix and match hulls and superstructures to create 'new' hulls
Will do 1.7 Shared Design Ships. We all still love the game.
One positive to really take away with no more updates his you can put big amounts of time into mods and not have to worry about them breaking like you could really make the mod you wanna make and know that it’s gonna work for hopefully a long time
What I don't understand about the game is it introduced 1950 and 1960 into the Custom Battles and yet no missiles? For 1960 Era warships
Would like to see a British campaign, but this time...its on a budget, legendary difficulty, no battleships
A big question I have is will designing ships become less frustrating especially when you want to make historical designs?
Do you know of any modders working on adding some kind of terrain to the battle maps?
A Viking campaign next? aka the Scandinavia nation.
Its interesting that all this repeats the pattern of UADs ancestor Fighting Steel.
Is there a way to change the model of turrets placed on a Destroyer in-game(while designing)? Instead of a 4.1" turret on my vessel, I could choose the Cruiser and BB models for the German 4.1" gun that looks more badass. (This is more of a question if it is even possible in the game)
Does this mean it will be easier to install the version that opens up the minor nations and will more minor nations be opened?
Install process is going to require melon loader
Forgive me if i misunderstand how this works and this being a relatively minor thing, but how likely/possible is it to rescale/port turret models to be able to more accurately recreate ships? For example, the L-class destroyers by bringing the secondary mark 5 5-inch british models to be DD main guns, or the Tribals by rescaling the mark 5 3-inch secondaries into 4+ inch DD main guns, or the KGVs by swapping out the later british 14-inch turrets for the spanish 14-inch. sorry for the paragraph and my lack of understanding how modding this game works
Rescaling is doable, and something Rocket has undertaken it’s a bit of a Herculean task though!
@@BrotherMunro Rocket has my utmost respect
Maybe this time when I try to download a mod it will work (comma separated excel file system messes up and ends up with the mod not showing up on the game for some reason).
Once the mod and it's forks are more final we could send in ship designs for all the nations and tech levels for shared designs for the ai to go against. Just have to make sure there aren't any nonsense designs like in the past when people snuck in designs that were just for tonnage, with no guns for example.
I just wish they’d given it steam workshop support so installing mods could be simple and easy.
oooo three versions of DIP v3? I'm so down. I'm definitely interested in Minor Nations and The Great Game, but more options is never a bad thing.
Now I just need to figure out how to have multiple installs of UA:D on the same machine at the same time 🤣
That's actually pretty easy, copy the game folder and paste it somewhere else! :D
@@BrotherMunro does that work with Steam? I assumed it'd get all fussy about me doing something like that
@@harjutapa you still need steam open to authenticate, and you can only *run* a single copy at once but otherwise it has no issues at all
I haven't actually looked into any of the internals, how much can actually be done? Can big UX changes be made in the campaign? Like diplomacy and interdictions and home ports and stuff...
Or like in battle, can torpedo runs actually be made to not be mega finicky? Or in general, controlling large numbers of ships feels awful right now, IMO.
Mr Munro, is there a place where can support you in your efforts into this game?
Absolutely! ko-fi.com/brothermunro
That's fine with me because it means no more interrupted campaigns.
this game will survive off mods as life support
Will we be able to get the Dreadnought Improvement Project without using Nexus? Nexus doesn't allow downloading without an account, and I haven't been able to log into Nexus for years.

Can modders improve how land combat works? Can modders change the moronic map with weird borders and zones? Can modders remove the mines/submarines or fix them?
Land combat - maybe
Map improvements - again maybe, will need us to get deeper access
Subs and mines - if by ‘improve’ you mean ‘remove’ it’s one of the first things I did making the Dreadnought Improvement Project 😂
Great work!❤ i like your videos
Honestly modders taking over might get me to play it again
Can I ask and I hope this doesn’t come across as me be demanding or being rude is there a way to add ship models if someone makes them can they be put in the game especially with no more updates that could just make them not be compatible with the current version
We haven’t found a way to do this yet, but now that there’s no one to object to poking of the game’s code maybe we can figure it out
I wish we could play as literally any nation, even if that means no more minor nations, i want to get strong as a small insignificant country!

All I want.. is a mod that never makes hulls obsolete… and never adds hulls past proto dreadnoughts :3
I would love a mod balancing the big guns lol nothing should have more than 40k range and the big guns should not have 2000mm pen at 1km
there was an old mod back in the day made by a person on the forums who made a mod that basically did that.

@BrotherMunro yes, that one. Nexus got the updated file but not the updated address.
Wish they didn’t remove ai cause I liked watching my ships fight
Loving sea power! A lot of me ‘playing’ it is making mods and scenarios though 😂
Yeah the KSP 2 situation is wild. Looking forward to Kitten Space Program though 😂
The first playable version should release by the end of the month.
A Dutch campaign, please.
Guess this means i gotta get DIP once its updated
UAD is a great game despite it missing a few features here and there. I wish they had put a little more depth into the diplomacy. It gets quite repetitive when the AI nations take forever to ask for a peace treaty, so you end up having to naval invade every single one of their ports to end the war. I might give the DIP mod a try, although as a Linux user it might be a little complicated to set it up.
I think melon loader is only a little bit more complex on Linux to install, they have a guide on the website
Ultimate General American Revolution certainly appears abandoned by Still Front unfinished, buggy and with a great many buyers in the lurch.
Yeah UA:AR is probably the hardest hit of all the game labs library
@@BrotherMunro I am hoping the company will feel some sort of Scandinavian crisis of conscience and at least try to finish the game. Thanks for the soapbox.

Sadly not going to happen now
@BrotherMunro yeah kinda expected tbh but itd be cool if modders like you guys could get your hands on the multiplayer code and maybe modify it for campaign but i know the work involved for that would be immense but it think itd be a really cool addition to the game and would make good content as well.
Couldn't the publisher Microprose get involved in acquiring the IP and support the devs?
Dreadnoughts isn’t published by Microprose, although they might be interested in acquiring the IP they tend to prefer having a dev studio do that and then acting as publisher
